  1. Sorry to hear about your back and that you have to miss the concert. Maybe you can catch them next year. They may do a non holiday tour over the summer.
  2. Trans Siberian Orchestra The Lost Christmass Eve CD This is the latest release by the Orchestra and the third in TSO's Christmass trilogy. Another masterpiece of incredible musicianship and angelic vocals. This is the way holiday music was meant to be played.

Christmass Vacation What's Christmass without the Griswalds?
  4. We need to start mass emailing the TSO to do a live DVD+CD
  5. I will also agree with the third album being quite fantastic. I just love cranking it on Christmass Jam, track 11.
  6. Ticketmaster still has some seats available for the Indy show. If I wasn't feeling sick I'd drive up and go to the show. But I think I'm catching a sinus infection or something .
  7. A TSO show is one of if not the best live show I've seen. And I've seen just about every major show to come through Louisville. Yes you should go see them live. I would suggest you get Christmass Eve and Other Stories first. Their holiday CDs are a trilogy of stories and this is the beginning of the story. Plus it has Christmass Eve Sarjevo 12/24 on it which is reason enough to buy it. Make sure to read the story in the CD booklet and have the system cranked whichever CD you buy first.
  8. I have heard of Savatage but do not own anything by them. But after hearing these guys play, Savatage CDs are on my to get list. Chris Caffery is also releasing a solo album with some of the TSO guys.
  9. You do have a nice system, admittedly better than mine. I'm running the RF3-II package with a Yamaha 5760 and a Pioneer 45a, no external amps. Yes I'm jealous, not of equipment, but that you can recreate the experience of TSO live . I am planning a new system sometime next summer built around RF7s or Heretige or possibly the new THX Ultra 2 setup. Either way this gives me a goal to shoot for .
  10. Did you see the group with Chris Caffery? That was the group we saw in Louisville. I agree with everything you said with one exception. There is no audio/video system or format available that can reproduce at home what one experiences at a TSO concert. It will take you a while to come down from the concert. I don't think I have recovered completely. I'm still playing my TSO cds trieing to recapture the experience.
  11. You should be seeing the same group I saw In Louisville.
  12. Not on the east coast tour but there is another TSO touring the west coast right now. I don't know who is in the west coast lineup.
  13. I almost forgot to mention that after the show all of the members of TSO came out to the lobby to meet people and sign autographs.
  14. I went to the concert at the Palace in Louisville last night. This was one of the best shows I've ever seen bar none. And I've seen a lot of concerts. The CD does not do them justice, they must be seen live to fully appreciate their talent. TSO did the entire Christmass Eve and Other Stories CD with a great narrator telling the story. Then they did some stuff from Beethoven's Last Night and The Lost Christmass Eve and went into a little Zepplin. TSO also played a couple off songs from the album they are currently working on. Every musician and singer in this group is outstanding. The singer that replaces the late Daryl Pediford was very good especially considering the circumstances. The entire TSO has a great time on stage while performing. You can tell that they really enjoy what they do and have a good time performing which adds to the show. They did the full laser and light show and had great interaction with the audience. Edit:I forgot to mention that TSO makes a donation to a local charity at every tour stop
  15. Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmass Eve and Other Stories CD Holiday music with a little more kick. These are some of the finest musicians and singers ever to make music. They put their own twist on holiday favorites and use them to tell a story. the CD is well recorded I can't recomend this group enough.
  16. Nice review. I think it's great when someone finds equipment that he/she loves. And with so many great products available there is something out there for everyone.
  17. Don't always judge by replies. It looks like you had quite a few views. I too would like to read it. and for what it's worth, I don't think anyone on here is a professional reviewer, just some people with a lot of experience.
  18. I'll be at the show this friday in Louisville. I'll let you guys know how it is.

I've got to have that!" And for the first time in my life, I tried to talk her out of a piece of A/V equipment by saying it wouldn't fit the TV opening above our fireplace. She asked Mark for the dimensions, he told her and she said, "SEE??? It'll fit. I've got to have that!" I must admit, the image was outstanding. And I'd really like to buy her one. But DAMMIT - I want my projector first! Tom ---------------- I wish I had that problem
  20. I would love to, but I'm in Lou.,Ky. Maybe if we ever get out that way on vacation.
  21. I would love to hear a 3802 paired with a B&K 200.7, I'll bet it's awesome. Like I said I will never knock Denon. In my room with my gear and to my ears and taste the Yamaha was better. I've come to be an accuracy and detail fanatic. And the Yamaha excels at detail. I love that on the Corrs In Blue DVDA you can hear the singers breathe between vocals. Call me a geek. P.S. I got the 5760 so cheap I actually sold my 3802 for enough to cover the cost.
  22. I'm not a professional reviewer but I will write this the best that I can. I have lived with the 5760 for 2 weeks. It replaced a Denon 3802. I picked up the 5760 for $369 shipped from J&R. My other equipment is as follows. RF 3-II RC3-II RS3-II Synergy bookshelves for surround back duty diy sub-Dayton 12" DVC with 250 watt Parts Express plate amp Pioneer Elite 45A DVD player Samsung 30" wide screen hi def TV Nothing I say here is meant to bash Denon in any way as they make an excellent product. I bet by reading that you can already tell which one I kept . First off the 3802 outweighs the 5760 by at least 10 pounds. this was painfully noticeable changing out receivers. The first thing I did after making all of the connections was to run the ypao. this did an excellent job of setting everything up. Probably as good as i could do with the Radio Shack meter and tape measure. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it set the crossover at 160. I just went in and manually set it to 80. The 3802 is rated at 110 watts/ch 20=20 and the 5760 in the manual is rated at 95 watts/ch 20-20. The 5760 is advertised as 110 watts/ch but this is rated at 1khz. At least Yamaha puts a truer rating in the manual. With that said the 5760 is easily 30% louder than the 3802. This was very surprising considering the weight difference. I rechecked the speaker level settings to be sure that I didn't raise them accidentally. One other thing I noticed is that the 5760 runs a lot cooler. Now for Music. I run my mains as large through the elite DVD player and play all music except concert DVDs through the 6 channel output. The first thing I noticed on 2 channel CDs was the imaging and sound staging was much better. Then I noticed that there was more detail revealed in the music. The sound was also a lot smoother in the 5760. This caught me off guard as I was expecting the sound to be brighter than the 3802. It wasn't any brighter at all, just smoother. I hit it with all kinds of CD, SACD, and DVDA and it kept putting a big smile on my face. I was happy to hear new details in music I've been listening to for years. It's been a long time since I could just sit back, close my eyes, and listen to the music. The 5760 does a better job of making me forget about the system and enjoy what I'm listening to. Time for some movies and concerts. I watched a lot of movies and concert DVDs that I own to hear the differences. Details details details. I heard things in movies that I have watched on this system many times over and never heard. Some of it subtle, but still never before heard. Again the Yammie does a better job of making the speakers disappear and me being drawn more into what I'm watching. Concert DVDs are incredible. First off I like to use Metallica S&M because there is a lot going on in the front 3 speakers. One thing I discovered switching from Synergy to Reference was in the opening during Call of Ktulu Jason Newstead's bass is all in the center. Before I could just see him playing, then with the RC3-II I heard every note he played distinctly and now with the 5760 I can hear it even better. Then throw in the Corrs Live in London and Diana Krall Live in Paris and WOW. TV viewing was not really fair as the 5760 has the new PL2x and the 3802 was just PL2. The 3802 did good with TV material but the 5760 blows it away. Which it should with a new format. The biggest surprise to me was the total performance of a receiver that only list for $499. While the Yammie has the latest bells and whistles, that has no bearing on each manufacturer's distinctive sound. and I find that I like the sound of the Yamaha over the sound of the Denon.
  23. there should be a 5 ch stereo setting

  25. Dream Theater Images and Words CD This is a masterpiece of rock music performed by some of the best musicians ever to play. As a musician friend of mine once said of this band "these guys must have come out of the womb with their instruments in hand." If you want to really test your system play track 5 Metropolis part 1 really loud and hang on for the ride.
