  1. K-Horns would be incredibly hard to move and set up. If you have the manpower, time and experience you could get two Pro LaScalas and build a couple Cinema F-20 horn loaded subs. Make sure you call the local police and have them clean their uniforms so they look nice when they show up.

  2. Its 50 deg here in Colorado Springs and Sunny which adds another 10 deg of warmth.

The coldest I have experienced was -25f on a ski trip to Canada. It was so cold the air would burn your lungs without a mask or balaclava. We have a diesel truck and I swear it took at least 20 min to get the glow plugs hot enough to turn the engine over.

Check out some of the Youtube videos.  The Star Wars fan base is angry and rioting in the streets over TLJ, and Solo lost money.  🙈

I think Solo is where they came up with the "Get woke, go broke" phrase.

30 years ago i was listening to music through a 40 watt/ch  Kenwood receiver, while reading a book, and a knock on the door revealed two police officers who ticketed me for a noise violation... (it was only btwn 2 and 3 volume out of 10)....  Shortly thereafter i bought a 200 watt/ch amplifier, and a few years later i discovered these Forte speakers.!!  (Paul Klipsch would be proud !! lol)   By then i was living next to the commissioner of public safety in a different town, but with much more room between the houses, i was still able to ROCK !

Now that the neighbors are closer once again, the Klipsch bookshelf speakers are plenty loud !!

I had a similar thing happen to me when I lived in an Apartment complex. It was Saturday and I was watching Gladiator pretty loud through my KSB 1.1 bookshelf speakers. I got a knock on the door and it was a cop who said, "We got a nuisance party call for someone else but when we showed up we could hear your movie from the parking lot."

  5. I second going with floor standing as well. The thing with bookshelves is that if you dont already have something to put them on then you need to get stands and if you cheap out on getting good stands you always have to worry about them falling over. By the time you pay for expensive stands, you might as well just have bought floor standing speakers in the first place. As for amps, I personally think Class D sounds really good with Klipsch. This is an amp that punches far above its weight:

That will free up some budget to get a quality DAC like the Schiit GUNGNIR.

  6. A single Heresy would work well too and fit under a TV better than some other options. You wont have lobing issues that traditional horizontal centers are prone to as well. Its rare to find a single but see if there a a pair on CL. Post a thread seeing if any forum members in your area are willing to split the cost and each take one. You can even find a cheap pair that might be beat up and simply cover the front with acoustic fabric to have it blend into your HT system. In the meantime,  I would go into your AVR settings and set your center to 'off' or 'phantom'. The center info will route to your mains and the stereo imaging will put the voices on the screen, you will actually be surprised on how good this sounds as long as you are sitting between the two speakers.

  7. Like others have mentioned, Klipsch speakers are very revealing and any issues with mastering etc will show through where a cone and dome may hide it. Achtung Baby actually scores pretty high on the dynamic range chart so it might just be that one part of the song with issues. Maybe the speaker connects at the studio had an issue or some other equipment.

That is one fun thing about Klipsch speakers is they bring out little details (good or bad) that make the music that much more real. Little things like the guitar player coughing and giving a sigh in the opening of 'Wish you were here' adds to the emotional impact of the song. There is an old Beatles album where you can hear the AC unit kick on in the background if you have certain speakers but I cant remember which one.

  8. We have a 2008 Honda Pilot and really like it. It has a form of AWD and we have never gotten it stuck. There is tons of storage everywhere and if you fold the seats down it basically becomes a pickup truck. I have surprised myself repeatedly with all you can fit back there.

What Kevin wrote me.   What say you guys?   I think this forum could Def benefit from these type of DIY, SVS forum guys.   Im sure we have several here thay frequent both places.  Lemme know what you think

Honestly, I would tread lightly on this one. The Klipsch forum and vendors have had issues in the past and it may even by a T&C violation.

@CECAA850 From a moderator perspective, what do you think about this?

I have a question, why is the THD so high on that amp ?  I was just reading about it because of price and this jumped out " 2 x 50W (into 8Ω @ 10% THD)" is that a mistake, just seems really high ?

Is like the old T-amps that when you turn them up past a certain point the distortion goes crazy, is that why it measures not so good? I remember my first little T-amp, sounded very good up to a point, then all hell broke loose after that point on the volume knob, downhill quickly.

I think that is just the max of the amp if you wanted to push it. If you look a few specs past that is says: 2 x 27W (into 8Ω @ 0.1% THD)

I do agree with you on Class D, they sound great until a point then suddenly fall apart. However, with Heresys or especially my LaScalas you are at ear damaging levels before you get to the amp's distortion point.

So if I end up going with the A-100 I wouldn't need a preamp. Would it be a good idea to get a DAC since I am planning on streaming a lot of music? I have heard the Schiit Modi 3 is a pretty good budget DAC, any thoughts on that?

The Schiit Modi 3 is a solid DAC. I am glad the new version has its own power supply as the older versions ran only off the USB supply and Windows would have problems recognizing it.

As for amps, I second Jason on the Topping amp, the Tripath Class D chips sound really good with Klipsch. The Topping amp with the Modi DAC is going to sound really nice and punch far above its price point. The two inputs is nice as well in case you want to run a turntable as well as a DAC.

One thing about rap is if you were to remove 2-3 words they would have to completely redo the song, and the word song was used very loosely.

Is this how most people talk these days, pretty sad if so, just one opinion. Or does those words make you smarter, tougher and cool?

No prude here as many here who have met me know, it just seems stupid to me, it just seems dumb to used certain words in just about every sentence.

Rap is a pretty loose term. There is mainstream garbage like 'gangsta rap' that is morally, lyrically and musically bankrupt is crap they throw at the masses. Underground HipHop is actually fairly sophisticated and deals with stories, politics etc. Blue Scholars (Seattle) and Atmosphere (Minneapolis)  are some of my favorite groups.

Here is a Blue Scholars song about life in a military family and the reality of deployment and what happens to the soldier's family when they never come home:

This is a really good song from Atmosphere talking about the realities of Blue Collar life and struggling to pay bills etc:

Hopsin has some good stuff too. This one is a little rough (language warning) but if you listen to the lyrics its a powerful wake-up call to the younger kids living without any direction other than following the mainstream garbage:

What will fit?  Well, the holes are big enough to accept about 10 gauge or narrower.  Pretty much any banana plug will fit too.

Just buy some 100% OFC wire of the gauge you think appropriate.  Anywhere between 10 and 16 gauge.  Don't go for the CCA copper clad aluminum junk.

Don't use banana plugs unless you have to move your stuff around a lot.  They are only a convenience and serve no purpose other than that.  They will not improve the sound and in fact depending on the design and materials used they can actually degrade it.

    You've got a great setup there...enjoy it!!  👍

I second this. Personally, I like the Monoprice 14 gauge 100% copper wire. Its probably the best bang for the buck.

I bought my wife a Canon EOS Rebel SL2. It's a smaller version of the regular Rebel. It takes great photos and is easy to use. There are a lot of great cameras these days. A nice feature is wifi, you can instantly upload a pic to facebook, iCloud, anywhere you like.

Plus it came in white....she loved that.

I second this. The Canon Rebel series is a really good camera to get into. You can keep it in Program mode to start out and its actually a pretty advanced camera if you really want to get into all the capabilities. There are tons of different Canon and aftermarket lenses and accessories as well which makes it a very versatile option. If you get this camera, I also recommend getting the 24mm 'pancake' lens. It is about $130 and has a really good field of view and a close focus distance. I have a Canon 7D with about 6 different lenses and my 24mm always ends up being on the camera 90% of the time.

If you like to hike with your camera, I also recommend this chest mount. It is much more convenient than having something swinging from your neck all the time.

  15. Crites sells a replacement crossover that lowers the crossover point for the mid to the tweeter, I think its called the A4500. The Lascalas mid horn has issues at higher frequencies but the K-77 is so fragile they had to keep the crossover high. If you swap the crossover to the Crites model and make sure to also get the Crites tweeters that go with it you should hear an improvement. I bought mine with this upgrade already and am happy with it.

Could this law constitute a taking of private property for public use, requiring compensation to the owner?

Its an amendment that states that if your property value is decreased due to legislation or other government action, the government could be held liable for the damages. In normal instances it sounds reasonable but this is bundled in with 112 where it looks like the energy companies are priming to sue the local governments for losses if they cannot drill on purchased land due to the setbacks. I think they are hedging their bets in case 112 passes and the local gov. prevents drilling because its too close to an irrigation ditch etc, the company can threaten a lawsuit to push the well construction.
