  1. Ok...I will bite. The Reference 7 series Klipsch speakers are the best non-Heritage speakers that are produced today. The Yamaha RX-V3000 is enough to drive them louder than any sane person would want. However if you are insane like myself it has pre-amp outputs that you can hook a larger amp to. I hope this helps.
  2. Bose suck! My wife likes them because they are small. She has a co-worker that has them for her "home theatre". Oh and get this! My wife then tells me the other day that when "Tracy" wants to listen to music she uses her "other" speakers. Can you say DUH!!! The fun part...we are real close to buying a new house. It has a 19 x 21 rec room that is slated for a 55" HDRP and my KLF-30's, KLF-C7, Heresy rears, and a SVS 20-39 CS+. My wife is going to want to have her friends over for dinner. I can't wait...another Klipsch convert!
  3. I am using AudioQuest Indigo Bi-wires. I have't played much with other wires because I was missing my jumpers for my KLF-30's. I got them in the mail today so I will try them sometime without them. I have a Yamaha RX-V2200 and it sounds good to me. With some cd's it will shut down at high volume (-25 db). When I turn the receiver back on the display says check speaker wires.
  4. As I said the ad was misleading. The picture was not the Heresy. He sent me pictures of Walnut Heresy's.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1515831464 I found this was a misleading ad because the picture was not HWO's. I e-mailed the guy and he sent me pictures of pair of Walnut Heresy's. Nobody has bid on them so maybe they could be had for $200. Not affiliated, yada, yada, yada! I would bid on them but my wife would ask why I needed two pair of Heresy's after buying the KLF 30's and KLF C7.
  6. When I was in Senior in Highschool I had a 68 Chevy longbed with a camper shell that was a little taller than cab. It had a boot instead of back window and was padded and carpeted up to top of bed. To make a long story short I used to put my Heresy's in the back and hooked it to a Sanyo 50 wpc amp driven by a Alpine under dash cassete deck. It was vey loud and was a big favorite for lake parties. Those horns would really reach out! I used to get invited to all the keg parties. LOL
  7. My new to me KLF-30's caused a green tinge on one side of my Sony 27" Vega TV. I placed the KLF's in same place of my Heresy's and one speaker was at most about 6" from entertainment center. The tv was not centered in cabinet and if I tried to move speaker farther away it blocked hallway. Anyway I was toast if I could not make it work without a major re-arrangement of living room. I cut a piece of 14 guage steel the size of the side wall of tv enclosure, placed next to tv, and problem went away. This is just a temporary fix because the wife and I are house hunting and she has very high on her list of priorities a HT/listening room for me and her a formal living and dining room. I bet MY room gets more use than hers!
  8. Buy her a cat and order the SVS as a scratching post.
  9. I used my Hersey's for the front with a KLF-C7 while I was waiting for my KLF-30's to arrive. IMHO it sounded good. The Heresys can be hung from ceiling with some cable. Seen it done a while back. Used to hang out in a club that used Heresy's hung in ceiling everywhere. The dance floor had 4 LaScalas hanging in each corner with a pair of the big concert style Klipsch bass drivers stacked on each side. They had a second floor pool hall with windows overlooking club. They had a bunch of Crown amps and they broke a bunch of the windows when they tested the system at full volume.
  10. I bought some Audioquest Indigo Bi-wires for my KLF-30's. I have tried the Monster cables and the Indigo's seem to be better. Since I have had the speakers less than a week it would be unwise to use that as a scientific analysis. Anyway the company has some interesting theory on speaker wire www.audioquest.com Oh by the way...I paid $87 for two 7 ft cables. Seemed cheap compared to other cables. 11. I just got my KLF-30's and KLF-C7. I had to wait until wife went to work early this morning to try them out. So 5:30 am I am playing Alan Parson Project Best of CD with the power meters hitting 200 wpc on my Carver M500t. I couldn't tell if the lights were dimming or a optic nerve was weirding out. Anyway these babys are loud. I am glad that I got them. I plan to use my Heresy's as rear surrounds. Still need a sub though...
  12. Hello Neighbor! Are the two LF-10's not up to par? Have you been to Hifi buys on Nolensvile Rd. They will have the Klipsch KSW and RSW series (not sure on price but they will haggle some). They also sell M&K's. They sounded good. Audio-Video Connections near Cool Springs Mall sells Paradigm. The PW-2200 also sounded good to me. Most everyone on this list seems to like the SVS series (www.svsubwoofers.com). I only wish I could hear them before I buy them.
  13. I don't have a sound meter so I can't give a db reading but I can tell you that my Heresy's make my hair stand up real good when the power meters on my Carver M-500t hits around 200 wpc. Tomorrow hopefully I will try this with my new to me KLF-30's!
  14. I may be jumping the gun here but a house my wife and and I are considering buying a house that has a unfinished bonus room above the garage. It has walls, ceiling, subfloor, air conditioning vents, electic outlets, cable, and some insulation. With part of walls pitched to meet ceiling it still has a repectable 14 x 20 ft of usable space for a HT/music room. My question is would it do better for sound with carpet or hardwood floors. It will have a fairly tall ceiling with some angle at top of walls. It now has some steps going down into it so I could use a tiered floor with different levels of seating. Well anyway I just was wondering what would sound better. Thanks
  15. Having listened to both the RC-3II and the SC-1 with the SB1,2,& 3 I would also pick the RC-3II. I don't think that the SC-1 sounded bad at all, I just liked the RC-3II better and it did sound good with the SB-3. I ended up buying a KLF-C7 because I was able to find some KLF-30's. UPS delived the C7 and one 30 yesterday. I hooked up the C7 with my Heresy's as fronts and watch Tomb Raider last night. Wow...I am getting antzy for the 30's.
  16. Plan on a good DVD player and also don't forget patch and speaker wires.
  17. I may have been a little gruff on my previous reply so I must repent my evil ways. I have recently (they shipped today!)purchased some KLF-30's and a KLF-C7. The 30's were a trade-in on some new Montana's so I got them at half of list and the C-7 was new in box. I had the dealer put in a new pair of 7 ft bi-wires in one of the boxes(not free). I ain't going to know what they sound like with zipcord wires. I am just going to assume that they sound better than my Heresy's(they are getting demoted to rear surrounds)because of the new wire. LOL
  18. I always get two reciepts. One that my wife sees and the other one stays in a file cabinet at work. LOL
  19. I did a quick search on the internet and came up with this solution. RF-3's,RS-3's, and RC-3 from www.supplymyhifi.com for $1122 plus $103 shipping. This leaves $775 for sub which the SVS 20-39PC is $749 plus shipping. If you can get it shipped for $26 it is in your budget. Now Rock ON!!!! Michael PS...no affiliation Yada Yada Yada!
  20. Contact Kevin McGuire. His websight is www.thesoundstation.com . His e-mail address is listed on webpage. He will give you a fair price and does work over the internet. I don't know for a fact if he will ship overseas but he may. He is closed on Sunday-Mondays. Michael
  21. The only advantage I have found for my monster cable is that it will survive cat chews and the occasional vacuum cleaner attack. I didn't hear a difference in sound. I'm no scientist just a System Analyst. LOL This message has been edited by Michael Greenway on 01-14-2002 at 02:23 AM
  22. No affiliation but this place has them: http://www.supplymyhifi.com/klipsch.html Michael
  23. Thanks... It had me confused. I at first put them in parallel and used them as my center until I get my "new to me" KLF-30's and KLF-C7. It didn't sound right and so I measured the resistance and it measured <2 ohm's. I hooked in series and my Heresy's actually could be noticed. They actually sound good. A sub is on the near-future wish list. These speakers will probably end up in the garage or maybe the back of my FJ40. Right now the room is too small to use the Heresy's as rear so I'm using the KSB 1.1's. I hope to get the KLF's end of next week. I think the wife is gonna kill me when she sees the 30's! L8R Michael
  24. I just bought some of those cheap new in box KSB 1.1's from UBID. $39 each plus shipping. Measured resistance and I measured 3.9 ohm each. They sound ok for surrounds but they where supposed to be 8 ohm. They where sealed in box and had serial numbers so I didn't think they were seconds just over stock. Anyone else bought any of these? Anyone else measure the impedance of their KSB's? TIA
  25. I would try the RC-3, RS-3, and the KSW-12 or 15. As far as the Reciever...I like Yamaha. I would give the RX-V620 a serious look for extra 20 bucks. Its amp is power rated at 20-20khz vs 1khz for the HTR. Find a local store and ask to bring your Heresys in and try different combos. It may be that the SC-1 and SS-1 may suit your ears. Bring a favorite CD and DVD. Michael
