I was able to play with the system a bit and run audyssey and a huge difference it made.  Still need to learn some stuff such as running both subs independently and also try to see if I can run a 2 channel format with subs.  Room is still a mess and under construction,  but hopefully by summer it's setup correctly.

I run my audyssey but when I use it I chose the "Flat" setting.

    Just for TV and Movies.

  2. So I bought a pair of RP-160M's, nice bookie.

I moved these into the Main Speaker spot

and use my Tektons as the Center with the F20's as surrounds.

As some of you know, I always advocate for the best speakers

    as yer center channel.

I really like this set up.

The sound is Much Cleaner because the "Boom" is gone.

The four woofers in the Tekton cover the low end very well

and since in HT the mains ans surrounds are basically effect channels

the Klipsch do an outstanding job.

there is more Tone in the sound than Boom, more realism.

I have the 160M's sitting on top of the Pendragons.

Everyone in the house agrees that the sound is better.

  3. Do Not let the AVR set yer levels.

Set the center channel volume, set it to what you normally listen at.

Then set the other channels while watching something that has sound effects,

such as explosions and movies you like.

It's the center you listen too the Most.

    That's the Main Channel.

After it's set, Then set the others.

That's why you want the center to be

    a Very High Quality Speaker.

The others are mainly sound effect channels.

Instead of turning the center Up,Up,Up,

    Turn the other channels Down.

Thanks Wuzzer-looks like I'm going to have an extra klf-20. 1st world problem for sure!

I don't use identical speakers or even the same brand across the front

and it works out fine for us.

rebuy: My sons living room has very tall cathedral ceilings, but yours is pretty similar with that fireplace there. His wood shelf appears lower but, pics you know can be deceiving. I have seen nothing in person as he lives in Ohio now, us still in Montana.  He is going to have his room finished up next few weeks. I will post a few pics then. Thank you! 👌

I run my centers through an amp hooked up to the Marantz

since the center only has one output.

I just moved the RF 82II's to the center position

because they're less Bassy. The sound is dead center

from the Klipsch as center. Sounds a Lot better than a

    Center Speaker also.

    I'm onespeaker short...can I still chime in?

A little background: I have a temporary home theaters set-up jammed into a less than ideal space, as my regular one turned into a play area for my two daughters.  I know.... priorities right???

I have two RF-82 II's as my front with an RC-7 in the center.  For surrounds I an using four RF-62's.  I am actually using the RF-62's as surrounds only because there is no decent area to mount my RS-62 II's  It's less than ideal, but it's only temporary...I hope!

The sound is decent, but the RF-62's are way overkill.  All surround content can be handled by decent small surround speakers with at least a 5 1/4" driver handling the "low" end.  I never understood why people are using KLF 20's, Cornwalls, etc for surround duty.  I can see if you're trying to fill a 2000 sq.ft. home theater, but anything other than that it's a waste of speaker and space. (I think your 15" Cornwall woofer will feel neglected and lonely!!!)  I know people swear by having all of the same speakers, or at least the same tweeters and justify it by claiming that everything is timber matched. I have tried it both ways and my ears cannot tell a significant audible difference if I use all of the same for surround, or two and two for back and side surround.  I think this is personal preference as well, and maybe a little bit of the placebo effect going on.... if you think you have all matched speakers then you will think it sounds better.  Just like speaker cables.... If I spend money on these super expensive cables, I must hear a difference...right?

I use Synergy F20's for surrounds and there is plenty of Low energy info

that a smaller speaker cannot deliver. I happen to like the full range of surrounds.

Thank You billybob. (and everyone too!) We discussed this (son) some time ago because I have 2 Heresy II's I was ready to give him. The problem with his 'new' house is that it too is the typical fireplace on the middle of the wall where the 'system' should go, or the only place it would have even worked at all in a living room including nice large windows. He's having to place his large panel tv above it. Seems a trend that sucks for this. He has a thick, real wood shelf above the fire place and will be putting a smaller center on it and directly below the bottom edge of the tv.  Luckily, the shelf is not all that high above the fire box, sure have seen much worse for this. The tv much lower than most, but still safe from heat and of course fire. He ordered the new Forte 4's recently and man they sure are purty! Distressed oak with blonde grills. He has ordered among the new line of Klipsch in black for the center and rears. Larger bookshelves and the center as large as he could.. Going to take some adjusting for sure.  We just hope close enough~  Hope all is good with you and yours billbob~👌
