  1. Last hour??... No!! (lol). Run Lola Run is the type of movie that by its very nature, for the full impact of the approach (almost requires) watching it in order, from the beginning. But glad you caught it. The high energy, frantic pace of non-linear storytelling, combined with a pulsating soundtrack makes for unique viewing. I actually originally watched this at the Theater (when I still attended the Theater), & with subsequent viewings on DVD. Having it on Blu-ray is a treat. Catch it again... from the beginning. Doing so, will add to the over-all concept.
  2. I think I heard Derrick watching San Andreas.
  3. Welcome to the forum! Great setting info for those with ICE & PSA featuring the room control feature.
  4. Good info. Provides additional adjustment & control (if needed) for various situations & preferences. Thanks!

Most excellent choice Jeeves. Non-Victorian options are a bit too austere for my taste. Especially since Black & darker colors are absorbing & thereby counter intuitive.

White is "reflecting"... so, for this application that's a good thing. =============== Nextgen... your ceiling height would be an effective environment for either add-on modules or in-ceiling speakers. Any progress with AVR selection?

    Atmos News

Now this is multi-channel music. The first Blu-ray Audio disc authored in Atmos: 1615 Gabrieli in Venice. http://www.whathifi.com/news/dolby-reveals-first-blu-ray-audio-disc-atmos?utm_content=buffer26e1c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Blur-ray Pure Audio Discs have been available for some time now, remastered with uncompressed 24bit/96k audio, including The Stones, The Who, Supertramp, Diana Krall, Vivaldi, Beethoven & many others. But all previous offerings were mastered in PCM 2.0, Dolby TrueHD & DTS Master Audio. I hope the trend continues with Atmos Blu-ray Audio with more mainstream releases moving forward.
  8. You should be fine with whatever you choose...based on the commercials, all of them have the basics bones and power of a race car. They also can weave through all of the traffic with ease, and can avoid it by using their proprietary GPS to find a street that has no other cars on it. If anything, you chould now be able to get to work in far less time than you ever did before. Plus, if you buy a truck, it will be able to drive through fire, tow the Statue of Liberty up a 12 mile steel helix ramp, and beat the school bus to the school. A win-win, if you ask me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gg0n1wOl8Q
  9. We might get some initial impressions or mini reviews. Klipsch will be showcasing new Commercial Speakers at Symco in New York today.
  10. All my subs were sent back (or packed away), new ones aren't here yet. So something straight forward tonight that the towers can handle. Always love this one, haven't watched it in awhile. Great energy & fresh creative approach. Could watch it over & over & over again.
  11. Its even more ironic than that. Basically its just a Chevy... hiding underneath the high priced Denali trim package. The big wheel spins, hair thins crowd the Denali is marketed too... forgets they're hiding (a Chevy), it's a put on.
  12. The new GMC commercials. Every time it comes on I grab the remote to hit mute. It's ruining Eminence Front.
  13. I agree, keep them at small. From time to time (depending on content) I'll throw the RF-7's on large just for fun. U2 Rattle & Hum (an older 5.1 disc) has some extra punch when set to large, but it can tend to get muddy in parts & lack precision (when compared to small). Nothing permanent, just mixing things up.
  14. The PC-2000 design that stygz is getting, used to have a plate underneath.... while the current design does not. Very similar to the (cabinet/box) downward-firing subs I have incoming. Their original design also had the plate, but the current version does not. It now only has extended feet. I was informed the plate offered no performance benefit. But it did add to production & shipping costs... so it was eliminated. No worries over which approach is better/worse. Good to know straight from the source. These cylinder subs pack a lot of volume with a small footprint. Now I'm curious to hear one myself. stygnz should be getting his soon.
  15. That is so lame. Virtual poking the stick. Normally I just ignore you, sadly yesterday (against my better judgment) I sunk to your level & actually acknowledged you with a response. Sorry to disappoint you, but it is impossible for you to insult me via a keyboard. (it wouldn't even work in-person) Your words are just not as important as you think are. Now, I'm going to go back to speakers & audio related topics... you can troll, insult, or whatever it is you do best. I do not care.
  16. The Isolation feet are pretty sturdy & robust. They are about an 1-1/2 tall, that must be a similar distance with the plate versions.
  17. Thank you. I'll look forward to input on the top mount ATMOS. I saw them but was concerned about the reflecting concept for the higher frequencies. Welcome to the forum glad to see you've put together a great HT setup. Aside from the subs & DAES (Dolby Atmos Enabled Speakers)... we have the same speaker combo. Your room is long... at what point in the length of your space (or how far back) is your MLP? Dolby has calculated the best angle for the upward-firing element based on where most people place their floor-mounted tower and stand-mounted speakers and based on standard ceiling heights. Since it includes reflection angle when using upward firing modules, that also would include a recommended position (distance) of your MLP. That distance from your R / C / L front mains could impact what speaker choice you select for Atmos; in-ceiling or DAES.. Same with the height of your rear surround (RS-7), it seems like Jay L has addressed that placement. As far as the upward firing add-on modules (RP-140SA), you actually want the reflection, it is a required function. The higher FR of the RP-140SA conforms to Dolby's patented treble curve & proprietary directivity standards. Reproducing the height plane is vital to Atmos (via ceiling speakers or DAES) but another benefit of note, an Atmos mixed track is not exclusive to (or limited to) just the overhead or height speakers. An Atmos track will change the experience with all your speakers, & that starts all the way back to the authoring process. Since Atmos is Object Based (each object has its own panning path, left-right, right-left, front-back, overhead, etc), the information & content is sent differently than traditional channel based content, And because the content is not channel based, your AVR manages object based audio (via the Dolby Atmos Renderer) to take full advantage of both the number and placement of all your speakers—including your front L / C / R & subs etc. Thanks for ALL the great info! My MLP is 16' from screen and R/C/L speakers. I am *thinking of the CDT3800's to angle down to the MLP, set directly overhead and slightly behind and the front set equidistant from rear overhead channels, distance TBD. Nice room & nice speakers! Since your room is long... the choice of wide dispersion in-ceiling speakers would be a perfect option for placement & coverage. There are quite a few members who have in-ceiling options for Atmos, I'm sure they will chime in with their impressions.
  18. Based on previous activity... I never once thought that the HT section was exclusive to Klispch (see my above post). I just thought it was kinda crazy that even ML was launching modules. Didn't think for a second anyone would buy them, didn't think for a second that it would steal a Klipsch Atmos customer away. Heck... most members don't even want a Klipsch Atmos speaker. It was just that with all they naysayers... here's yet another big name speaker getting into Atmos. Nothing more. Its all good. I only want a horn loaded tweeter with my upward firing modules. Zero interest in the ML offering.
  19. lol... There are all kinds of threads, discussions & posts on the HT forum for: Onkyo Pioneer Speakers Sony Play Station SVS Subs JBL ODS Audio Speakers Emotiva Marantz Denon Oppo Outlaw Harman Kardon Sound Bars Realistic Mach 1 speakers Scrappy... you even created a thread on this HT forum for Reaction Speakers: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/158355-man-this-company-might-be-on-to-something-here/ Metropolis just posted about SpeakerCraft Atmos speakers. Don't recall anyone crying about any of those non-Klipsch threads. But no biggie. A mod can move the thread wherever they want to, if it even needs to be moved. I just thought, dang, didn;lt see that coming from ML. btw, still not an Atmos rep. Not even sure what that is... or why I would be on a niche site... long before Klipsch even announced Atmos was a product line. LOL
  20. Just gonna set in my corner table, mind my own business & watch this tonight. Love the movie, glad to see Denzel back to good form.
  21. This thread need a good laugh. But this thread is soft fuzzy bunny compared to the "New Hardware" thread. Wow.
  22. If I'm undecided or unsure... I'll post this:
  23. In the future... if I like a particular Blu-ray or something Atmos related, I'll just post one of these:
  24. It's more like non-Atmos, Atmos is pretty cool but there may be bigger priorities, and one super Atmos fanboy. See there you go (as usual) you gotta (try) and insult me. Shows where you priorities are. btw... not insulted & never implied I was the only one who.... whatever you said attributed to me above. This is a speaker forum, the Home theater section of a speaker forum. Atmos is fantastic. Who would have thought one couldn't express that.
  25. Valid points K5SS. I get long with Scrappy, at least I thought I did. He & others like to throw down a bit & engage in harmless trash talk. A lot of stuff comes directed my way, I'm a big boy, I never took anything personally, never offended. Just natural back & forth with differing points of view (always good-natured & nothing serious on my part). For me Atmos is a big of a leap as going from DVD to Blu-ray was. Back then, I would never hesitate to pass along positive info on Blu-ray & in doing so would not disparage anyone who has not yet made the leap. If I point out highlights or positive aspects of Atmos tracks... it because that's how they play in my space. That is intended to provide quality info from personal experience, certainly not intended to insult anyone who doesn't have Atmos. In the future, I'll try a different way to describe the contrast (pro & con) between channel based & object based formats. Not sure what that approach is... I don't think anyone disputes the performance of Palladium or Cinema gear (at least I never have). However, those options are not practical for most due to size or cost. Atmos is new tech & there's plenty of room for information on the subject.I try and post as much info as I can so others can mare their own informed choices. Some here still think Atmos is a gimmick & only sends a little audio bouncing off the ceiling. That is misinformed. From the authoring process, software & adaptive rendering.... Atmos places & moves up to 118 individual audio beds throughout all of your speakers including subs. Atmos is not limited to only overhead content, but that myth still continues. An Atmos set up is very accessible for the average enthusiast & can be a cost effective route when the upgrade itch strikes. There are lots of options for every budget & space. Everyone recommends all kinds of gear, I can only recommend what I enjoy. I guess I could post with less enthusiasm & less information.
