  1. introduced her to her twin last night. (well sister maybe) Dang these sound good.
  2. 99% (just ran out of screws for the trim)
  3. The car or a small horse? Either way is impressive. When he gets to Clydesdale or Chrysler Imperial, you will have to start being nicer to him. The good news is that he will be better than original equipment after the surgery. Not may injuries have that luxury. If he plans to continue playing ball, it will be a good thing. It will suck during rehab and missing a season, but....... I know a few that have had it done, all with good results. I specialize in knee surgery like Carl.
  4. Got my new caps in! Looks like everything fit too. Taking a break now, just to chill. Something I ain't good at. pls don't comment on the caps used. I am matching an existing speaker and was happy with the result.
  5. If the question was "is your system better than your hearing"? I would have put 100% too.
  6. I went with the 80%, it seemed to cover me. Would have been a little more accurate it it mentioned "wild hair" in the description somewhere, but was close enough.
  7. I like the oxidized look!!! Now shut the ----- up! It's all about musical reproduction, not aesthetics.
  8. All buffed out and ready to finish up this weekend. New caps in the x-over tonight, mount the drivers tomorrow and then rock n roll.
  9. Either way, if I go to SWAG, you and your THTLP are going! Back to HIP: Welded up on the corners, still need to buff the welds down, but glad I was forced into doing it.
  10. More key variables to be considered: The audience is typically old men with a certain degree of hearing loss. We sit about 50 yards away sitting by a bonfire drinking moonshine. Plus, we have also been drinking all day. Are you picking up what I am putting down? We are usually asleep by the time the police find us.
  11. Don't start laughing yet! high priority on portability, so I will grade on a curve. Speaking of curves. This is the model for this driver using 600 watts (which I already have) in the small ported cabinet I will be building. Lay that curve over a LS and it looks very good (music only). There are also two of these, but they will be trying to keep up with 4 LSi's!
  12. I was actually excited when I saw it on! I only pretended to be avoiding the extra work. I am actually a workaholic. If that wasn't enough to get the ol' mojo back, USPS found my lost package with the final pieces and parts!! Out for delivery. Subs wont start until next week!!
  13. that might be why they have the screw go all the way through the front of the 1/2" front panel with a washer and bolt on the back side of the horn. The 1/2" wasn't strong enough to just use wood screws from the back side. The inside clearance for the totally enclosed section is the only reason I could come up with. Just a guess, could be wrong.
  14. I have seen four pair of LSI splits and all had 1/2" ply for the front of the top hat. First I heard of that was when I made a new panel of a member and I thought he was crazy, turned out he was right. Good thing he stopped me before I cut the wrong thing. I think it has to do with closing in the back side and making sure the K400 plus the driver would fit.
  15. I hate it when Carl is right! Fortunately, it doesn't happen often! Sure hope he's wrong about my subs........
  16. That driver works for many TH designs so the cash wasted will only be a sheet of plywood. Wait, have you seen the price of plywood?
  17. I still have @codewritinfool 's THTLP here. We can do a side by side experiment. He can be the judge. If it is that much better, I will go that route and sign up for a group rate at my chiropractor.
  18. Code has been here several times, but he was invited. The creepy: you have a call from "Carl........from the Forum" on line one......still haunts me.
  19. I was trying not to overthink this. Now you (and Carl) are pushing me to work harder than I had planned. He did the same thing when I mentioned doing a simple ported sub. Having the guys in the shop do it puts me over budget with having to buy beer.
  20. I have a dozen guys out back that I would have do this for me before I would do it myself. I am not awful but they are very good.
  21. Stop coming up with more things to do. Some of us work for living.
  22. Ok, did weld up a couple pieces of scrap. I buffed the weld off one edge to compare. I can leave the weld or buff all joints smooth. OR just leave the mitered joint. Please no comments on the weld skills exhibited.
  23. Your design and wheel were handy when I moved them around my shop! When I got them on the flatbed, they were awkward to move and lay down (stood up in transit) ond the limited area on the bed. I'm building two 15" subs using pro driver (Eminence LAB15) in a small ported enclosure. (just under 4 ft3) I already had a Crown amp with DSP that I can do a bandpass x-over and pump 600 watts to each. May or may not do the trick. We will see.
  24. I am starting a sub project very soon. When done, we can set up and compare your THTLP to the ones I do. As much as I enjoyed your speaker (which I plan to give back some day) I wanted something a little easier to move around. I ain't getting any younger and this is for my "mobile" set up. I'm doing two much smaller than the THTLP but together should hold their own. If your's blows these away, I will have to build one and buy a back brace. I almost dropped yours off the flat bed a couple of times. I wasn't going to tell you, but.....
  25. I put the first one to use as a makeshift center in my basement. I put this ensemble together a little while back, again cuz I was bored and had all the parts and pieces. It was more fun putting it together than it is using it. I rarely sit still long enough to watch a movie and hardly ever watch any TV. I have watched a few concerts on dvd that were fun, but only a couple times during our negative degree days a few weeks ago.
