  1. So i have a jubenstein with K402 uppers and jbl dual 18" bassbins for lowers.  I was originally using a custom tube amp for the uppers but i have since purchased a McIntosh C2600 tube preamp and want to pair a good SS amp to drive the uppers.  Obviously a McIntosh stereo amp makes sense but I'm looking for a more affordable option for now (under $1500).  Was looking at the Schiit Agear want to know other options that people have actually heard and would recommend.

    Thanks you Chief bonehead

    I am old too.😃

I will really try to find a preamp with tone controls like the McIntosh.

I have bought a dayton audio dsp-408 but he is noisy on my la Scala. Perhaps a problem with my actual preamp or bad wires.

From my experience the "affordable" dsp solutions are way too noisy for high sensitivity speakers.  It wasnt till i moved to the xillica 4080 before it all just worked and sound awesome.

  3. Ok I'll bite.  I would counter its like the religious people that dont believe in modern medicine and keep their kids from getting basic medical care.  This isnt birth control or sex reassignment.  If you can trust a 16 year old with car and all the decisions and responsibility that comes with it then you can trust them with a vaccine.

  4. Specs are a funny thing.  I run my Forte III's currently off of my Marantz receiver and I can drive everyone out of the house without much of a challenge, and the sound quality is excellent.  With the Cornwalls I'm guessing the crossover is sending most of the power to the LF driver anyways.  I would recommend just using the Marantz to start, my guess is you will be more than happy, if not, grab a Mac amp after that.

  5. Just my 2 cents from my many experiences with my changing Klipsch speakers and changing components.  I've narrowed it down to Marantz and McIntosh gear that sounds best to my ears.  If you are looking at mutli channel home theater setup get a high end Marantz receiver and call it a day and save thousands of dollars.  If you MUST have McIntosh gear somewhere for the looks put a nice Mcintosh tube amp off the preouts on the Marantz to your Cornwalls. The sound quality difference is negligible at best. (For my hearing)

  6. Both purchased new and mounted into my rack.  No pets, no kids, no smoke.  The P6 got a ding when I was mounting it on the faceplate (see pic).  Other than that they are flawless.  I have original boxes and parts plus the mounting brackets for rack mounting.  Also selling custom tube amp and Rotel amp and will add those details shortly.  I would prefer to sell these as a pair as they work extremely well together. $2000 for the pair and split shipping to CONUS

  7. Again, hi-fi audio is subjective.  Price may, or may not, play a factor in a persons subjective view of what hi-fi is.  A $40,000 amp that sounds the same as a $500 Chi-fi amp isnt going to qualify as hi-fi in my book.  BUT someone with more refined hearing or younger ears may think that it does.  Or some rich person may feel the need to own something that most people cant and it therefore qualifies as hi-fi to them.

  8. Beyond Burger has replaced all my dietary meat needs other than when I want a legit fillet mignon or rib eye.  Beyond Burger (to me) legit tastes better than hamburger

If you want an option that doesn’t break the bank look at Aric Audio. I just bought his Super KT88/120 SE and it is one of the best sounding amps I have owned. Made in the USA with premium parts and PTP wiring, no circuit boards. Aric Kimball is very accessible and always eager to help. Highly recommended.

I bought one of his custom made line stages about 4 years ago. Was a great tube product. Highly recommend

Thanks for your input.  I'm sure you remember that I'm the one that bought the Belle parts from you...grills, K-500's, AA crossovers, etc.  I'm sure this is going down as my hearing getting worse and I've had other people tell me that they sound great, which supports my thinking.  But, the ads L1230's just do everything better for my hearing as to what I can hear at this point and time plus they cover from bottom to top without the need for a sub.  As much as a pair of Jubilee's would be great, I really don't have the room for a K-402 atop of the bass bins with the way the room is shaped on the short wall.  They would have to go too close together to not touch the slanted ceiling which would not be optimum.  The long walls are 54" tall where they slope up to 96" like many above garage rooms do.  Klipschorns would work 15 feet apart (corner to corner) but I don't care to spend that kind of money on older used models or new models, which I can buy for landed dealer price from many dealers I've known in a 5 state area for 25 years.  I just don't need that much anymore.  Hell, I'm contemplating selling all my LP's off of which some I've had since I started buying them in the late 70's.  It's been 6+ months since I spun an album; I mainly stream Spotify because, again, I can't hear the difference between them and Amazon Music HD, Tidal, or any of the others; which sucks.  Or, I listen to FLAC files from my NAS via JRiver.

Again thanks for your input and everyone else.

Ah yes! Also side note, havent touched my lps in months. Hi res streaming quality is so good and the ease of making playlists and discovering new music just make LP's too much hassle...
