  1. I have just recently upgraded my H2's to the H3 upgrade and I have the full set of drivers. I would like to see if there is any interest in buying these items. The tweeters have the crites ti and I still have the original diaphragms. The crossovers were upgraded to sonic caps in 2014. I live in Jackson Mi and if shipped I would pack them into the boxes that the H3 parts arrived in.
  2. I believe that is power consumption of the amp.
  3. I will be in Chattanooga the week of March 1st. I will be passing through on I-75 on Monday the 1st, if you still have them I would love to demo them.
  4. This is exactly why I grabbed a tube pre amp kit from tubes4HiFi, I wanted to use it on my main in's on my Marantz just to see what that is going to do. I still have the desire to build my own tube amp but this, for me, was a quicker way in to use tubes to influence my sound.
  5. So I have a complete beginner question. What is the software package and interface you are using? I am a lab guy but not in the realm of audio equipment.
  6. ERSE Caps, it wasn't the full order but I need more caps for another crossover and parts for another project so I am going back there.
  7. If you want more than one input then the preamp seems to be the thing. I plan to start this as the input to my as receiver for now until I start the next one
  8. I opened up my H2 to take a peek what was going on inside, out of curiosity, because today I found out that there was an H2 to H3 upgrade kit you could buy. When I looked at the crossover I noticed a 10nF cap across the 68uF cap, this is not on the schematic I found, and was wondering this. Would a cap that small in parallel just be there to improve the tolerance of the larger cap?
  9. I grabbed the film caps from them but I did not get the electrolytic, I was holding out for some radial cans but still haven't found them. I found the axial type which is what i will end up doing but since I have to make another order I am actually going through to see what else i will need. I have a tube preamp kit and I will replace some of those caps as well, you know that 25.00 order minimum thing.
  10. I can't make up my mind yet. I am seriously considering the SSE board and build my own from tube labs or the ST-35 board from tubes for HI-Fi. In the meantime, I read enough to know the impact of the Pre-amp on the audio so I bought a preamp from tubes4hifi. It should be delivered today and after a reasonable burn in time will see what the next step is.
  11. Thank you for that update, I will go check them out. Its sort of a dad rule and not making two stops you know....
  12. I thought I could get away with a 3.9 and an 8.2, not sure if the voltage drop across the two in series would make much difference for a 5% cap that is off by .1 uF. I punched the numbers in a filter calculator for that circuit and not sure if the 20 or so hz difference matters. However I am a bit obsessive when it comes to these things and will keep looking. At this point it is principle. I do have a cart full of items at parts express so I may just order what they have and sooner or later I will get enough parts at digi key to make it worth my while to order there.
  13. 4,8 uF film or mylar and 24uF Electrolytic. Just haven't found them all in the same place and for small orders the shipping will add up
  14. Just an update, finding a single source for all the components I want is quite a challenge. Crites is winning right now.
  15. I was concerned that they wouldn't fit. The Blue ones are 4 and 8 uF.
  16. Does anyone know what type of cap the blue ones are, these are the 4 and 8 uF. Are these film, mylar, or what type of film.
  17. I can test the caps but I have to unsolder them and remove them. I may as well replace them if I get that far. 3 caps won’t be too bad and I’ll go ahead and order the tweeter upgrades. I’m going to shop around for caps first to see if I can save some cash.
  18. So I have this thought about this. I am planning on building a DIY tube amp, it seems like it would be a no brainer to just solder up the divider network inside the case and put a line level output on the case. Is this a sensible endeavor or something not feasible?
  19. So I have spent the day with them and after some positioning and appreciation for what they are, they sound a bit different. I do feel like with that 2200 hz crossover frequency there is a big task for the tweeter. I plan to recap, i opened them up this morning and I can get to everything easy enough. I will most likely recap first, give them some time and try the tweeter upgrades.
  20. The age is a big concern for me but I found one that is now 50.00 so I think I will pull the trigger and hope for the best.
  21. I have no experience with these but have read lots of great things and am thinking of grabbing an F-1000b, it looks to be in great shape but have not heard it yet. Doing a search on e-bay and marketplace I see there are many different models and the prices are all over the place. Are these worth it? I am looking for a sealed box, nothing ported, for music only. It seems like a worthwhile venture if it is under 100.00. If I decide to go with Velodyne, are there some models to avoid and other I should be looking for? Any knowledge of this brand you could share would be greatly appreciated.
