  1. Could not agree more, I have never had such an appreciation for instruments before getting into Klipsch Heritage speakers!
  2. I've never personally had the pleasure of hearing K-horns but from what I hear they are absolutely breath taking and I certainly believe it. I'll just say that when I was in the market for speakers I went to bestbuys magnolia theater to audition some speakers, they had Martin Logan, Bower and Wilkins, Difinitive Technology and others. The guy played me a pair of B&W's that went for 4k a piece and I have to say I was not that impressed, I think my Chorus's outperform them without breaking a sweat so I can't imagine what some K horns would do! I am yet to find a speaker that brings out the amount of passion in people as the Klipsch heritage line especially the K-horn and La Scala I have read reviews where people say they have literally been brought to tears by how great K horns sound! It's definitely my goal to one day own a pair of those or the La Scala's! Just a side note all the guy at bestbuy was doing was bashing Klipsch and saying their products are sub par and there technology is old and outdated! Haha I was tempted to really start in on the guy and tell him how my "30 year old speakers" were better than anything he had in the store but I decided to keep my thoughts to myself.
  3. I have been trying to get ARC to work on my LG 55UB8200 tv all last night my brother and I were working on this and for the life of us couldn't get it to work. We tried different HDMI cables thinking maybe the one we are using isnt compatible, went through all the settings with a fine comb and nothing seems to work. The receiver is a Pioneer Elite VSX-90 ARC is enabled in the receiver and on the TV. We are using the correct HDMI output on the TV that says ARC and tried them all just to make sure. Through my research the only thing I saw was that some people said you need to enable SIMLINK but that seems to be isolated to TV's with WebOS which mine does not have (2014 model) I checked the menu several times for SIMLINK and cannot find anything like it. I found a similar thread on AVS forum but the person that made the most got no responses so I figured I would give it a shot and see if anyone here might know a solution. I am absolutely clueless, my brother has a Sony TV and uses ARC flawlessly.
  4. Well I had been talking to the guy earlier this morning and he was responding pretty quickly but when I asked for pictures of the rears and serial numbers he just stopped responding so I guess that pretty much gives me my answer. I appreciate everyones input. I had a feeling I should stay away from it as soon as I saw the pictures and the way the AD was written. I feel very fortunate to have found this place! This is hands down one of the best friendliest most helpful forums I have ever been on!
  5. Yup thats exactly what I told him in the email. Good thing he's not out for blood. I'd hate to see his blood price... Thats right, when I read that he wasnt out for blood I thought he may ask like 600 or so but I was amazed at the 2500! Ya, I will email him and see if he can give any more information or pictures but it's funny you mention the spelling errors and grammar because that's exactly what I was thinking. You would think with such a high end sale that he would actually put effort into the add. Also, his emails are even worse than the post in terms of grammar and spelling. I have actually thought about the fact that these could be some home made fakes myself. I will ask for serial numbers and pictures of the rears and if he sends more pictures I will post them here!
  6. Ya the guy is saying he wont take a penny less than 2,500 truthfully it sounds like he's full of crap saying he's had tons of hits and offers in the 2,000 range on them and they've only been up since this morning which I somehow doubt given the shape that there in and knowing how hard it is to sell even mint condition audio equipment on craigslist. I think this is one of those things where he thinks by saying he's had tons of offers I will jump on it. The guy that sold me my Chorus's had the listing up for over a month and said I was the first person to respond to the ad and those are mint. When I was thinking of selling my brand new RP-450C I listed it on craigslist and didn't get one hit and when I tried to sell my fully working JBL studio speakers the best offer I got was like 50. I think you guys are right, stay away from this one!
  7. What do you think their worth? I was thinking of offering like 6-800 considering there not even working They are certainly not worth 600. Too many unknowns and too many things that need to be performed on them. I would at least ask for a picture of the back so you can see the mid driver and crossover on both cabinets Thank you! I was thinking that myself. These look almost as if they were hand built to replicate the K horns. Do you guys think I should even bother with them?
  8. What do you think their worth? I was thinking of offering like 6-800 considering there not even working
  9. I found someone on Craigslist in my area selling a pair of K Horns I will post a link to the thread. I have been in contact with the guy he said he will get back to me on what he is asking but I want to know given what they look like and what he says about them what do you guys think. Are they even worth it? How much would you guys pay for them? Are these things even real? I've never seen a Klipschorn that looked like this. He says there from the 70's I appreciate all the help! http://hartford.craigslist.org/ele/5519681456.html
  10. I dont understand why if someone wanted them shipped you would bump the price all the way up to 12,000 from 2600. Would it really cost that much to ship them?
  11. We have the same year Toyota Rav4, and I totally agree. With tone controls flat it sounds like a severe smiley face EQ, bass and treble too hot. I have the bass and treble turned way down and the mids flat. It sounds better but not real engaging. We have an older Mazda 3 and that stock stereo sounds great. Up the bass one notch and you're there. Ugh that sucks thats definitely a big fear of mine! I've invested tons of money into my system over the years.
  12. When I was in high school, I had a full sized station wagon. Buick Estate Wagon as I recall. I was moving my Electrovoice Interface D's somewhere.... so I got creative and rewired the stereo and plugged them in....both of them. It was pretty cool! I had a pair of ESS AMT's in the back floor as my every day car speakers. (they got kicked out of the house when the LaScalas arrived) Later in college, I dropped the station wagon and had a 1971 4-4-2 convertible. Don't you know that a pair of LaScalas will fit perfectly in the back seat with the top down!!!! Never hooked them up though. That might have been interesting. Haha, thats amazing! I actually thought about putting bookshelf speakers in my car at one point as well because I know it would most likely sound much better than any speakers installed in the doors. My family laughed at me and called me crazy, I also made a thread about it on caraudio.com where they also called me crazy! The thing is though I have a 150 watt per channel amp in there, it could really bring some speakers to life!
  13. Ya I agree I can't stand the rattling either that is associated with having a sub or even having good door
  14. Damn that must have been some system. I'm sorry to hear that you totaled the car, I'm glad your still here to tell us about it though!
  15. I would highly recommend looking into Crutchfield.com While amazon may have better prices on certain items you CANNOT beat their customer service and to top that off, if you put the car you have in they will send you free of charge the dash kit, wire harness and installation book for not only the headunit but for installation of door speakers that you may be interested in down the road as well. I always tell people, order from crutchfield first so you can get all the installation gear you will need free of charge then later on you can order from other cheaper sites if you are looking to upgrade in the future. Also, if you order speakers and they aren't the exact size they will include mounting brackets. Shipping is pretty much just as quick as amazon. Haha, it may sound like I am sponsored by them or work for them, I do not I just know how frustrating it can be to order car audio gear and not have the right stuff to install it. I have been dealing with them for years and highly recommend them to get you started. As far as brands go, I have always preferred Pioneer headunits. I always recommend people replace the headunit first because that will make the stock speakers sound 100% better right off the bat. As far as speakers go I always liked Boston Acoustic, Pioneer, Foal makes a really great speaker JL audio is another really good one. I just recently installed a pair of Rockford Fosgate speakers in my friends car and I was extremely impressed based on the fact that they were only 70 dollar speakers.
  16. Yup same here, there have been times where I have to double check to make sure my center isn't on when listening to music because the vocals sound like they are dead in front of me!
  17. Anyone here into car audio, if so what brand speakers do you prefer? I'll list what I've got to get it started. I've got Boston Acoustic SR-50's I wanted the 65's but they wouldnt fit in my door (too deep) with JL audio 150/2 slash amp powering the comps and 2 Diamond audio d6 12's in a custom box tuned to 35 hz and a Memphis MCD1000 powering that. Headunit is a Pioneer AVH X2800BS. I am pretty happy with it, i've had it for probably around 5 years. Really no plans to upgrade anything. I am way more focused on quality home audio because it's hard to get things sounding the way you want in a car with all the different materials and all that. It took a TON of sound deadening material to get the rattling to stop with the subs. The only thing that I recently did replace was the headunit because I wanted bluetooth. It's too bad Klipsch doesn't make car speakers! I have actually thought about buying the satellites that come with the Pro Media 2.1's and mounting those in the car! May sound funny but I actually heard of a guy doing that on another forum and he said hands down the best sounding speakers he ever had. Of course they would be paired with my subs. What does everyone else have?
  18. I did not know that, thank you for that information! It definitely makes sense though. What about "toe in" do you think that's important, or more a matter of preference?
  19. Tis what they all say....then you'll hear a bigger Klipsch that will make your LaScala sound like a toy... Round & round....it never ends. You may as well just have yourself committed now rather than wait any longer. True, I thought I was done when I first got the Chorus's!
  20. Haha, sorry I guess I miss wrote that. I meant what I am looking to do is have all La Scala's in the front and the Chorus's as rears That's the end goal but will probably take a while to achieve.
  21. That's an absolute wonderful idea! Having the tv on top of the speaker! I had been wondering, if I did use a La Scala as a center how would I work that out! I shall wonder no more!! That speaker isn't that high either so it actually works out perfect!
  22. It's funny I actually LOVE the dated look of the La Scala's and the Chorus's I think they look pure badass! Don't get me wrong the Reference line looks incredible too with the copper cones! I know what your saying but I plan to have a full heritage theater when it's all said and done so if I am to get rid of anything, it's going to be my JBL S310's and replace those with the Chorus's and then possibly down the road if I could find another La Scala for the center I would get rid of the RP-450 which I know wouldn't be able to keep up with the La Scala's I mean it's gotten MUCH better since breaking in but there is a difference between it and the Chorus's. Chorus's sound just a bit deeper and richer so I know it wouldn't stand a chance against the La Scala's.
  23. I actually see a lot of those Altec 19's on eBay, How are they, how do they compare to the La Scala? Personally, I prefer the 19s, but it really comes down to what sound you like. I thoroughly enjoy them both. Both will have more power than you'll ever need in a home and both will create a tremendous soundstage. I am in CT as well. Ya, those are very beautiful speakers! They definitely caught my eye the first time I saw them. Only thing I like about the La Scala's though is that the woofer is horn loaded. I really want to try that out. Another thing I noticed is it looks like those model 19's are 2 way. Is that correct? Ya, I noticed your from CT as well. It's nice to see someone in my area on the forum!
