  1. Well you certainly have a point that is well shown in the pictures. From an engineering point of view I am mindful of the fastener holding the driver end of the horn to the case. This makes the force direction at a right angle to the screws which is a strength direction.
  2. They work 100% as best ears can tell. I leaving for 8 days will get pics when I get back but they look new, not even dusty. I have the Crites speaker boxes to ship them in. I have an 84 tscm set and an 85 set. Different crossovers and different K55s [V vs M] So I did the natural thing; I changed all 7 speakers so I could be sure the two systems are identical. Already got rid of the k55 and k79 so these are the last. They are fully working k33; as best as I can tell they are identical. I get back I will simply dump them on ebay to the highest bidder.
  3. $ 150 any one? Hate to have to use these as boat anchors.
  4. One more thought... The crossover of the '84 consists of 3 r-c filters; almost absurdly simple. The 85 has something like twice the number of parts including diode protection for the k78s.
  5. Here is a really good picture of the '84 compared with the '85+ TSCM tops. Count the screws. http://www.tmraudio.com/product/xx-618
  6. Removed from a pair of TSCM where they are sealed in. They are not even dusty. Turned out my problem was a couple of bad crossovers but not wanting to go in twice I just replaced them with the new cast frame Crites speakers. No idea on age but my guess is mid 80's. I was told they sat in a garage in PA for nearly 20 years so I suspect they have had light use.
  7. Matched pair of Pristine k33 15 inch woofer for various Klipsch bass horns. Thinking $200 plus shipping. Any offers? I am in North Dallas, TX
  8. Kal: Changes can be good. Actual measurements of the K77s show some drop off as low as 15 KC. I changed mine and based on my somewhat unsophisticated audio response measuring my before and after 5 db down response went from about 16K on the 77's to something just over 20K on DE 110s. I used the DE 110 because there was no room in the TSCM cab for the larger 120. Actually I have replaced all 7 speakers in my TSCMs. I installed the Crites' cast frame K33 woofer, Selenium 250's for the 4 k55 squawkers and DE 110s for the 2 K77s. My two Klipsch crossovers were radically different [ and 30 or so years old ] and the two speakers had about a 6db volume difference so I installed ALK steep slope crossovers. The change was so dramatic that even my tone deaf wife said "Wow!" My good neighbors who had heard the speakers before the changes sat in to watch Phantom of the Opera in blue ray Dolby 5.1 surround sound and then asked if I had replaced the speakers. The fact is I changed everything but the Bins. I have limited experience with expensive top of the line speakers but I seriously doubt that due to limitations in my old, high frequency challenged ears that I will ever hear a set better than my TSCMs. They are so smooth all the way to the top and I am able to point at each sound source; fabulous stereo effect. Again I will say to anyone who will listen: " Long live the TSCM!"
  9. Next to last report: Theater in and all finally working. [ Two bad connectors, a defective $100 HDMI cable, a Direct TV decoder that did not work with HDMI and a war for control between my projector and my AVR not withstanding.] As part of the process I changed out the tweeters with B&C DE110 speakers, the woofers with Crites cast frame replacements with new ALK steep slope 400/5800 crossovers since the two cabs came with radically different crossovers. Turned the auto-former connections for the Squawkers for an additional 3db loss to get a bit of more low end as compared to the squawkers. The result has been nothing less than spectacular with respect to both low and high frequency response and as to stereo effect. Long live the TSCM! Think I will pass on going to double speaker bins as I think these things are now better than my ears. Give me a month to recover and I will assemble the TUBA speaker I acquired in 50 pieces back together again with a new B & C amplifier and woofer. Not as big and bad as that monster above but usable audio down to 25 cps.
  10. twistedcrankcammer Would love to have a set of the doubles. Should you run across a set I am in the market! Do you know if there is an inherent bottom to the TSCM bin that would keep a lower resonance driver from lowering the frequency coverage?
  11. Best offer? Otherwise I throw them away on the 15th.
  12. RIVERNUGGETS: Do you know if Dean G still does RC-7s ?
  13. Add a good center and these are fabulous for music. I also like the sound better than the Cornwalls. I find it hard to believe some addict has not bought them.
  14. Magnets on E-bay; just search "small magnets".
  15. New price: $ 90.00+ shipping for the set. [$75 now]
  16. Can't find either the PM or the email but then again this machine has become almost impossible. Will look again. Note the new price tag. Sorry got confused about the mail. Have a good day.
  17. Yippie: Use it for Blue Ray sometimes. TV is so bright even though I turned the brightness down that l leave the front sconces on full and the over head lights on but dimmed. Grizzog: I have heard a set of upgraded Chorus with a RC7 center and it was spectacular listening. I suspect your '64 is just as good. Have your good day.
  18. As to the magnetic catch the are remarkable. They are polarized and automatically position the cover. Neat... Less than $5.00 for the 8.
  19. Well it needs a little oil and a bit of TLC but it still sounds great. I had always intended to upgrade the tweeter and the crossover but never got to it.
  20. Pics; not very good but the best I could do . . .
  21. Yes: 90". Love it... more pics.
  22. Up date; Tried to take pics. They do not really show the defects hardly at all so I made a thorough inventory. 1: Has a couple of what look like light scrapes perhaps almost 2 inches long that have apparently been blacked to match. Did not see them before but on careful look they are detectable; I have no explanation for them as they were there when I got it. 2: The top has a small [1/8] hole that I have no explanation for; it was there when I got it. 3: Both copper woofers look good from about 3 ft but both have several small marks. They do not effect the working as best as I can tell. 4: I have had the unit for about 2 years and it sounds really great. I have not had it open but I was told by the guy I got it from that it is entirely original. 5: The cover had a broken fastener so I modified it [ neatly by way ] to magnetic catches. Should have come this way! It ain't perfect aesthetically but you have to do a real close inspection to see the faults. For example I had not noticed the darked out scrapes until today. I have watched Ebay and Craigslist for a month and seen nothing under $350. If you can find one better than this one for the price buy it! It took me a year to find this one and I paid $300. My feeling is that if some one wants it at $250 fine; if not I will just keep it as my living room center. It is in operation so anyone local can hear it in operation. Have a great day.
  23. New price. Now $140 plus shipping estimated less than $20. Will consider any reasonable offer.
