  1. Before the game starts I've had time for side one of my new to me and newly opened copy of one of the best LPs from my jr high years. Hit the jackpot at discogs last week when I searched for half-speed masters after the Police came out with their new Abbey Rd. boxed set. Remember where you were & what you were doing in 1977 when you first heard "Barracuda"? I can't type that out here! Know all of you know I like to rock, but my most loved part of this LP is side 1 #2 #3 & #4 Anns voice, the mandolin the moog synthesizer seemingly coming up out of the floor. Wow, it's been since before the demise of my old YAH tt since I've heard it this good....... heck never this good!
  2. Yes the tubes are a buffer, the last stage in this, so probably a no-go for an at heart tube purest. But I think even someone with a gorgeous McIntosh rig could appreciate how this thing makes what comes off the vinyl so realistic! Maybe I need to utilize the familiar terminology here ? Buttery midrange, true and clear percussion, rich resounding bass that can make your skin tingle! The total palate of every instrument is laid out just as in the studio or on the stage with this pre!
  3. Ignorance can be a problem. Very good, (not too) long movie!
  4. @dtel Like the way the reviewer in the above link phonically injects the drawl of the dialect into his write-up of the Ramones trip up the river!
  5. Now I now how the screen name came about. Not suitable for children's ears: "Some people grow up, some people just grow."
  6. Only similarities between the two are the decade they came out in. Kudos for your annual attempt, surprised that you keep a copy of 4.

    The Other Discs

Is it live or is it Memorex?? Not sure if i want to click it this time😜
  8. I've invested in the Type 4 for the Heresy and the Type 8 vertical bi-wire (their name not mine... I know those words trigger some folks) that I had here waiting on my Fortes before I got them. Outstanding DEAD background, clarity, bass response intensified compared to the thirty year old 14G Monster OF cables that I promptly sent to the shed to tie stuff with.
  9. They've now confirmed with their AK6 Khorns what a lot of us already knew about AudioQuest cabling. The solid copper AQ use makes a big difference.
  10. You could not see the sarcasm in my post. Aerosmith = first favorite band Rocks definitely first favorite record & first time I saw them. Zep is iconic and so is that particular LP to me..... Get It? ** you see that the Museum AK6 are out?
  11. Not a problem here, My first favorite band & my first favorite record...... Nobody's Fault...... But Mine
  12. Josh Homme - vocals, guitar John Paul Jones - bass, keyboards Dave Grohl - drums, vocals intense attitude, good mathematical bearings from the drummer, singer is goofy but that's just his style, he wears it well. side three has a song about those lemmons before the studio of the above jam session This kind of music works sometimes, only this stuff is from the 90s not from `71 with JPJs first band
  13. Great bass in that one Mike, and I know you know it with those LaScalas you're listening through! Went in the right side of the cabinet, found a hair band with that certain failed NYC opera singer lead, kinda Iron Maiden like guitar sound in some stuff. Haven't had them out in a while. They had a unique take on some of their thematic LPs like Operation Mindcrime. The good sound quality video I found for one of the tunes has the dam* lyrics splashing over the screen. Anyone know why some folks do this? It's infuriating, I have to put it in another tab when they do this to music.
  14. If you're a SS guy or gal and wondered what putting tubes in the path of your records could sound like....... I did and this preamp makes LPs the star of my rig. Vocals come alive, string instruments sound like you could smell the resin, bass response you can feel in your gut, electric guitar distortion that can shred your spine. Need to also mention the absolute depth and the quiet background in the sound reproduction. Everything that you have read about the "tube sound" is real and tangible. Used this for a year.. since Oct `17. Like new condition >50 <100 hours on it. Absolutely nothing wrong with this phono preamp, I've succumbed to upgrade-itis like so many of us. Two 12AX7 ECC83 Golden Triodes make the magic here. Have the original packaging material and paperwork, it comes with it's own power supply. This has been connected through a good power conditioner/surge suppressor its entire time of use. If shipped I intend to put that box inside of another for better protection. $270.00 Paypal + shipping to the contiguous USA. I will be able to get it out by next Friday 2/11 at the latest, I think.
  15. @joessportster Did Dr. Kwon in Clt do your fusion? He is an absolute top notch person and doctor, in case you aren't aware. Did it for five vertebrae for my mother in about 2008. Unfortunately when two more discs had degenerated one above and one below she declined another operation to include those. It would have been a much more intensive operation to pull the rods out and put in new longer ones. He's on Randolph Rd. with all the other pricey docs towards downtown. His reviewing your info and advice would be well worth your time and money. When her condition prevents her from being able to perform the post-operative therapy... she considers it a partial fail. After that it's to the pain dr, only now he's an "addiction dr" knows full well her condition and cut her Rx by one third and notified us it was only the first reduction. He's a rude, cold hearted politician. Hippocratic Oath seems to not hold sway over lots of those as$h*les in the last decade.
  16. Bet it's been a month since I've seen the sun come up around here. Got to see it a few minutes ago!! It's cool out there but it will be nice if we ever dry out....even just a little. Looking around soaking up my first cup before I pull up the game from last night. Got a doe out there hiding from the breeze in the back. So nice to have good coffee again after getting stuck with a bag of stale beans for a week!

    The Other Discs

Just discovered... if I don't watch the `canes play from start to finish they win . Happened twice in the past week. Listening to the new lp that just came in, then other stuff, dam# no fun to watch if you already know the score. But geeze they need the points, have to turn off the NHL app on my phone so it won't spoil it and watch every game like it's a left coast game. Alright then, if they'll keep winning I keep my end up!! nice cd this cover has some good sax through it, and through the horns here.
  18. One Tall Tale: or maybe not?
  19. Nothing like breaking the seal on a forty year old, never opened LP. Especially one you know well and your copy isn't the best anymore and the new one is a CBS Mastersound copy. So the seller and the market up there....lets just say north of the Mason/Dixon line must not recognize the value when I paid less for this than a new reissue costs at one of the online record shops. 6:30 left in the first period and the Hurricanes are up on Columbus 2-0!!!!! CDB: and even if you don't dig them you would appreciate the sweet, full sounds coming from this new vinyl..... had to blow off some of that extra vinyl that is sometimes on new ones.
  20. Again, not what my "E" showed. Stay strong and we're thinking of y'all.
  21. 🤣 cheatin pats always deserve to lose. gotta love those dolphins! Especially loved it the Sept after they beat us in the SB, 100+ degrees downtown. Peppers was still here think big Maake Kemoeatu was here. The third time brady went three and out right below us we intercepted it and ran it to midfield. Know it was sweat, cause the bleachers had emptied 70k to the mezzanine at halftime but looked like tears streaming down his face. got `em that day, got `em good
  22. Dang! Guys you Know the proverbial they, them control the schematic for all of it. Strength of schedule, W/L, market size, regional bias all play into it, always will. The really powerful will wield their clout if allowed to. But the stuff recently here sounds like rationalizations. A month ago I swore my Tigers could beat Alabama. osterine happened. Our recent best defender is out for the biggest games of the year. A lot around here think someone introduced that substance to those fellas environments somehow....... ever seen a corporate espionage movie or read a book like that! So the field has been leveled, "Any Given Sunday"
  23. I'll say: While I understand the reasoning behind looking at it that way, I'm not so sure. My problem affected my $ through lost work. Affected friendships to ruin, even when some made an effort to help me. The pain I attributed my usage to wasn't physical but it became so, much worse than I could ever imagine later on. Years into it forced into rehab, it got through to my block-head that I was addicted. It starts with a particular personality flaw or type that does not sound like you here. Now mine was an addiction way before I considered it as such, but looking in hindsight I'll say this. When what you're habitually doing affects other facets or maybe all aspects of your life in any way that's an addiction. You're using this drug to help you not hurt physically. If I read into that correctly I wouldn't call that addiction. You also sound headstrong enough to prevent yourself from getting hooked. If the doc thought you were taking too much he would not write the script. Believe me drs are taking pain medicine away from people with an actual documented physical need for it because of the polit-bureau crowd in our former USA. I live with and take care of one of those people, and I'll stop now before I start ranting and railing about it. Good luck with this Joe. & borrowing trouble (worrying) won't help anything.
  24. I got two different groups of stanzas from that excellent guitar work as ring tones or alarms on my phones that I found years ago!! One of my half speed mints looks like it will get here tomorrow!
