  1. Listening room is finished basement 20X 30. Was only gonna use pro amp temporarily til I can afford a better integrated amp from the list above. I just didn't want to damage the drivers by overpowering them is all. Thanks, J
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. I have requested more pictures of the cabs etc. The Seller has yet to respond. What's the difference in the k-55 and k52 drivers? Also what is power handling on the Corns would 200+ SS watts be too much? I ask cause I only have HT recievers and a pro amp at the moment. I will eventually get a new amp/integrated sometime afterwards. what are thoughts on cheaper integrateds such as: Creek 5350 classic, Prima luna models, bel canto s3001 & vintage mcintosh 6100/6200. If you have suggestion in this range pls fell free to add them. I have tried a jolida 102b (with decent tubes) with my rf3's, didn't notice any special jump in performance over the SS amps I had at that time. Thanks, J
  3. Hi There, Been away for a while, but back with questions. I'm considering getting cornwall cwo from local ebay seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230041921262&rd=1&rd=1 I guess if memory serves cwo is either cornwalls in oak/oil finish right? I emailed the seller back to try and get the serial numbers to try and help identify the production year. The drivers from the pictures looks either really dusty or in bad shape. The seller says the the wood is in excellent condition. Any opinions on these, should I go for em? Vintage Corns usually sell in the 700-800 dollar range right? Thanks, J
  4. If that's all your looking for?? Try a decent 120-200 watter from Rotel, B&K, Mcintosh, ATI, or Bryston etc etc...with Cheap Creek OBH- 12 or a Parasound 850 Preamp. You'll be amazed at the spl's you'll get then. Not to mention the extra BASS and Dynamics. I've thrown several Parties with mine (Mostly House Parties, One Block Party) Very Good Loud Sounds for the money!!!! On the other hand if your looking for "Audiophile Type" sounds you may need to audition some......and look at better source player. Good luck
  5. Sorry to Butt-in, Are there any other post with "reviews\first imprressions" on the Blue Berry, Besides the " Thanks Mark" Post?
  6. I too can't wait for results from the shoot-outs involving the Sony Es players and the Ah! I've been saying for a while now, that "IMHO" The ES Players are some of finest players you can get in their price brackets. Even simular Units from Marantz, Rotel & Arcam (sp?) couldn't cut it. Something about the systems utilizing the ES's just sounded so right for me. If my moneys were different I'd definely have one in my system.
  7. Great write up(s) guys...... I guess when I can muster up the coinage, I'll be getting one of those AE-3 DJH's Thanks alot, Jalen
  8. Sssweet!!!! See some of you guys round here have to be "Da Man Next to the Man" In the Microsoft or some darn Company. It's Hard Trying to keep up. Does Your AE-3 DJH have a remote???? J
  9. Oh, Now Here You Guys Go!!! Just when I was getting ready to Try something from A.E.S. in front of my system. You Guys turn and shoot them down. Is A.E.S. gear any good or should I look at something Else? Any of you ever try any of the Rogue Audio Pre's 66 or 99 Magnums??? How do you think they would compare to the A.E. Gear Pre's? Thanks, Jalen
  10. I for one am very happy for you Gary. I can't wait to get my systems kinks worked out. Cheers, Jalen
  11. By The Way, DeanG just picked up a 9000ES from http://www.audiogon.com . You may want to ask Him for his thoughts on the Player? Good Luck, Jalen
  12. Yeah Dean, I hang out at The "Gon" regularly. I just picked up My Mcintosh 7100 from there a few months back. I've seen those 9000es there quite a few times both moded and original. For Myself, I think that getting Amps, Pre's and Speakers are fine from the used markets. But, For some reason I'm a bit skeptical about buying used Cd players. I think I may just hold off and buy a new near top of the line Sony Es Model when we get back State Side In a few years. Thanks, Jalen
  13. Minn_Male: What Source (CD Player) Are You Using Now? I Bet that adding a good Cd Player to the mix would get you on the right path. I heard a few Marantz, Rotel's and I own A Cambridge Audio D500se. But, IMHO none of these units compare to a Good Sony ES (777es, 9000es, 555es) Model. With the Sony's at work, the Cd's I brought sounded more like real music. Soundstaging, Airy Highs, Decay notes and Piano's had real weight to them etc etc......Of course the 9000es model from above is only avalible from the used markets now that it's discontinued. May be worth a try. Note: I Beleive The 9000es didn't do cd-r's Take your amp to your nearest Sony ES Dealer, and give some of their higher end models a listen. May turn out to be just what the Dr. odered.... Jalen
  14. Yeah Dean, Those were my thoughts exactly, when demoing those ES players. The 9000es even in the unmodified state was very Airy and had huge Soundstage. Just sounded right for some reason. Man, I wish I had've gone for one of those instead of My cheaper Cambridge option. But, Live and Learn. For now on when demoing gear and it sounds "Right" I'm going to shoot for the whole set-up. Jalen
  15. You Guys are obviously not too concerned about multi-channel playback (DVD-A\SACD) with your Tubed CD Players in place. Just curious, have any of you heard an Sacd demo on players like the Sony ES models or The New Philips 963? And what were your thoughts? From what I hear alot of these models are pretty smooth with "REDBOOK" playback as well. My experiences are only with the Sony ES Models (SCD-1? - 222ES). IMO, they were all pretty solid units on mostly REDBOOK, with an Outstanding demo of DSOTM on sacd thrown in. Any thoughts about how these or other "quality Sacd Players" compare if at all to your Tubed Joints? If you haven't figured it out by now? I may be in the market for new CD player as well, is the reason for all the questions. Thanks, Jalen
