  1. Mornin' All I wonder what happens to all that daylight y'all are saving. I still think [IF you must have DST] making the change an hour later during the winter is more practical now. I understand why it was done, WHEN it was enacted. not a problem I have to deal with, even if I wasn't retired. AZ keeps MST all year The bar had their "Halloween dance" last night. Sounded like our house band. They're OK/good. The size of town is not indicative of the talent pool. No, I didn't attend. My ears are still ringing from wife's want for loud music. I should have grabbed a hair sample from her .... I do not think that was my wife. It looked like her, but. If this is an indication of how she is going to be when she retires, I'm for it. She needs to be able to let her hair down. Being a teacher is tough. Aside from all of the work, there is an image thing. Can't go to the bar and get crazy, ya know what I mean? ---------------------------------------- Mon AM not too bad out. in the 50's. No dramatic warm up, though. We might get 75`. Back to Peruvian beans. Think I'm gonna have to rustle up some firewood. Because I am not taking a truck and trailer to haul, I can get away with pinching some from the national forest. We are allowed to cut for campfires. The hunt is on. Deer, right now. I think dove season too.
  2. you got that right, Ritchie and add a certain amt of fat hits all the food related pleasure centers. they have it all figured out. I'm glad there are any out here. not for 40 miles for me, I'm too cheap to eat out. I can't help to think that for the price of this burger, I could be eating steak or shrimp or .... at home. I'll wash the dishes
  3. maybe I overstated "bite".... he did nip/snap at ya. And he WOULD grab your hand if you touched his tail. as a child, my folks had a GermanShepard/Alsayshun[?] She kept us in the yard and protected. If we were playing rough with other kids, dog had to be inside. She didn't bite... nip, yes. we have a bevy of feline watchers now. They are very alert to things. Except the deaf our one. She "sees" things beside not hearing much
  4. Usually, when I am referring to "fast food", I am politely saying screaminshitz. the end result of eating fast food.
  5. got a good chuckle. Talking to my sis... she was telling me that a friend of my nephew saw a pic of me He asked nephew, "Is this the guy that invented pot?"
  6. Joke in Box does that for me. I had better be at facilities in 20 min. I am going to the bathroom whether I am in a bathroom or don't
  7. I have books that are over 100years old... Value? In spite of the having to hand set type and all, same price as new, computer driven, print.
  8. Mornin' All wife threw me for a loop yesterday one of those days at work. Got home, no Hi Honey... it was "I NEED SOME LOUD ROCK AND ROLL" The neighbors got serenaded with 70s hair rock at concert volume. I started out at normal "loud" level.... At her insistence, the volume knob settled at 6/10.... She was shouting at me to turn it up. Now, I have a question How many of your "significant others" know how to operated your system? Mine didn't. She does now. by the by She really does like my big black LS. looks, too She has a better appreciation for them after yesterday's "listening session" WAF is a fickle thing
  9. he was a sonuvabich, Carl. I knew he was dying when I could catch his tail and get away. Used to take the shorthair, a lab mix and him for a run. That required me picking him up to put him in the truck. He liked being picked up about as much as his tail being touched. Wanted to go so bad that he would let me. So, I would push it and hold him until he was quivering, lip curled, snarling before I set him down. used to play fetch with the shorthair .... in the dark. That made it more interesting.
  10. terriers investigate with their teeth. We had a terrier mix when I was a kid. That dog would bite anyone [including children] who was stupid enough to touch his tail. And it was a big fluffy one that arched over his back. the shorthair was much more subtle. People would come into the house and he would lay in front of them, looking at them.... watching He near got a cop by the face when the cop poked his face through [the open] front window of my car to look at the dog who was "sleeping" in the back seat. Dog came over the seat.
  11. hit my problem on the head Upgrading the modest [priced] system I have could cost some bucks Thanks, Jim A Danley sub would be cool... $$$$$$$
  12. after the 10 zillionth time, it gets old. I can't listen to it anymore... even if JimmyPage is playing it.
  13. oh... I think I'll leave walnut crushing comments alone why not? How many purchases of audio equipment get blamed on peer pressure? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd pot of coffee going down... and I got up "late", 4:30 I am guessing the rodents are feeling the change in season. Cat's have been busy. The deaf housecat has got 3. Cool, except for that we have mice. She is teaching the kittens to hunt.
  14. I've heard of people putting milk on it, too. OK Corn meal/grits ... the same? I know grits are made from hominy. Does yellow corn meal get the same processing?
  15. I had a GermanShorthairPointer. A 75lb cat. Coyote smart. Behaved more like a cat, when left to his own means. After him [he lived a long time, 17years] I can easily say NO to offers of dog. I can borrow one for as long as I care to pet one. The neighbor has a beautiful hound [of some sort]. She's more white than black. I/we call her Daisy. She gets loose often enough to come visit. Try to confine a hound when they get scent of something. My shorthair used to sit, waving his head back and forth like radar. I knew he was getting ready to go for a run. could not keep him indoors. He would not stay. Had one place with a Beware of Dog sign on the front door. What it didn't say.... the dog was coming up behind you
  16. I warned y'all. It may not have meat.... that's about all you can say. ..... and don't get any in the real meat.... The carnivores will scream adulteration/meat extenders
  17. truth when a buddy of mine was learning to play a trumpet, his folks got calls from the neighbors about a "car horn" honking for hours every day. he did end up making a modest living from playing surprise a yt vid. he's a lot older than I remember Ya don't have to play it
  18. when you realize that the only one person counts in the "likes" ... is you ... and that a sour note only lasts until you quit doing it she dinna pick anything easy to learn. Double reeds [oboe/bassoon] are right with strings.
  19. He's intimidating, Chuck never got any pics of my "guard" skunks. they spoke softly and carried a big stink. Sorry @DizRotus is a bad influence
  20. Mornin' All Well, the party ends. I pick the wife up at 11AM ... the house is pretty clean. Anyone have a sure-fire way to get glitter up? jk jk
