  1. Thought these were kinda cool.... http://charleston.craigslist.org/ele/3667321683.html
  2. I've put a small system in my test kitchen on a covered deck in my back yard. I have a few questions.... I have a Denon AVR 1612, Roku media streamer and a blue ray payer in a cabinet on the deck and I'm concerned about humidity, dust, heat and cold. The floor is regular decking bords so there will be air flow from underneath. In SC it gets hot and humid in the summer. Should I construct some sort of box to put the componants in? I'm thinking one with a fan on one side blowing out and a cutout with some sort of filter on the opposite side. Will this be enough to cool the unit when it's 100 degrees with 80% humidity? Should I place a desiccant of some sort in the box to soak up the atmospheric moisture? There is also a 51" plasma mounted on the fireplace. I have the same concerns there. I value you guys' oppinion and look forward to hearing any and all ideas Also, if anyone has some KSB 1.1's for sale let me know! Thanks in advance Tony tonysr61@gmail.com 803-243-1876
  3. Good afternoon all. I would appreciate your help trying to find a manual for a Olson KB-142 tube tester. I have searched Google and emailed a few people but im not having any luck. Thanks in advance!
  4. Quick question all, Which will provide better performance, line level connection fron the sub out or connection to speaker terminals? Thanks in advance!
  5. I am using two different products and ELIMINATED ALL pop-ups from my system. STOPzilla! is great for pop-ups and ApplyIP stopped the IP messages. Try searching from your address bar or from google for "pop-up blocker" and "IP blocker". You'll get a million hits on both, but these two have worked great for me. And like NOSValves said...Stay off the porn sites!
  6. Howdy Greg How much for the Heresy parts? Also, how much for the Heresys? Thanks, Tony
  7. Flynn, I agree, the 3.1's are quite amazing in H/T as well as the music arena. I listen to alot of classic blues and classical music and they just shine. The soundfield was increased dramatically by hanging them from the wall and angling them down towards the listening area, much better dispersion. I live in Summerville, SC on the glorious coast. In fact, we're on the way to the beach even as I speak! My zip is 29483. I can put 3 of these in one box and 2 in another along with the mounting brackets. One carton will be 24"x24"x12" and weigh 40 lbs, the other will be 30"x24"x12" and weigh 60 lbs. These probably aren't exact dim's but they are very close. They will be packed to avoid damage, but I would insure the shipment if it were me. I will ship via the carrier of your choice, but Fedex has been very good to me in the past, cheaper too. If you want to do an integrity check, my eBay ID. is tony0861 and I have a perfect track record. Have a great weekend.
  8. Howdy all It's time to change the configuration of my H/T again. I have 5 KSB 3.1's which I'm currently using in my bedroom system. IMHO, using the 5th one for a center worked far better than the KSC-C1 as far as timbre matching goes. They are soon to be replaced by Quintets (WAF) and I would like to offer them to this forum before they go to eBay. One pair has the heavy duty mounts attached to the back. All are in really good cosmetic condition. One pair is mint, the other three have a knick here and there and they all work flawlessly. Quite frankly, they are one of the best sounding bookshelf speakers I've ever heard. I would be willing to trade these for the parts necessary to rebuild a pair of Heresys (all I have are the cabinets) or K-55 drivers/K-600 horns and type B crossovers as I'm also trying to resurrect an old pair of Corn's. After much research on eBay, I've found the going price to be around $225.00 plus shipping per pair. I'll consider any serious offers. I would also consider Altec 511-B horns and diaphragm kits for K-77's with square ceramic(?) magnets for trading as well. Pictures are available via e-mail to anyone that is interested. These will be going to eBay on Monday or Tuesday if I don't get any response from the board. Thanks and I hope everyone has a great weekend! Tony
  9. Yep, it has gone to auction. that lets me out I'm sure. I'd be willing to bet it goes for significantly more than $150.00. Better luck next time.
  10. Don't burst my bubble Jim! Although you're probably right. I sent the seller an e-mail after I wiped the drool off of the keyboard. I think it would match my Corn's well when I get them rebuilt. I still need crossovers and mid-horns for them.
  11. O.K., I'm tinkering with a pair of old Cornwall cabinets trying to bring them back to life and I'm looking for Mid-horns and crossovers. I'd like to get a pair of K-55-V's and a pair of type B crossovers 'cause that's what was in them to begin with. I can get a pair of K-601 lenses from Klipsch for around $50.00 so if anyone has just the drivers please let me know. If the price is right I'd be interested in a complete set of K-55-V's with K-600 horns. Also, any thoughts on the best x-overs for primarily H/T use would be appreciated.
  12. Hey Folks, I saw these crossovers on eBay and was wondering if there was supposed to be any caps on the board somewhere. The seller said they came from a working pair of '75 Cornwalls and were original. The pair of type B's in my '79's have two big caps wired in. Just curious. Thanks in advance.
  13. Howdy folks, Anbybody know the impedence of a K-22-K woofer? Thanks in advance.
  14. I don't think you can order on-line yet. call 1-800-KLIPSCH and follow the prompts to the parts dept. BTW, I love these speakers. I have five of them in my bedroom H/T and they smoke other monitors at twice the price. If you need any help with the install let me know.
  15. If I'm reading you right the thing flopping around is the crossover. There is no sound coming from the speaker, right? Contact from your receiver to the speaker is made by a soldered connection from the binding posts to the printed circuit board which holds the crossover componants. Pretty crappy design if you ask me, one good jolt to the bottom and the solder breaks. They should screw the crossover to the cabinet and wire it to the binding posts. I had the same situation once and the seller payed the price of the part and had it sent to my home. I tried to re-solder the contact points but was not able to make it work. What you need to do is replace the crossover. Simple process, it comes attached to the binding posts. All you do is take the old one out and put the new one in. How to replace it is obvious when you get the part. I think the part costs around $25.00 direct from Klipsch, just order a crossover from the parts department.
  16. heeltar I have used the KSB 3.1's for some time now and they are very impressive. The best sounding small monitor I've heard for the $$$. They have a great bottom end and out perform speakers twice their size. Enjoy
  17. Any info on this particular type of Heresy? I just bought a pair made in January of 1985 for $200.00 and plan on using the tweeter, squawker and possibly the xover(if it'll work with a K-33) in a pair of C'wall cabinets. They look like a regular Heresy with no grill except they have a metal grill over the woofer. The spec's on the auction says that they go down to 40hz and up to only 10khz. Why the difference in freq. response compared to the spec. sheet on the Heresy (50Hz-17kHz±5dB). Here's the auction link with pic's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3032147867&category=14993&rd=1 Any thoughts are appreciated
  18. What's the difference between a K-55 with a K-600 lens and one with a K-700 lens? Can a K-55 with a K-700 lens be used in a Cornwall? Also, are there any differences in the K-77's used in Heresys vs. the ones used in Cornwalls? Thanks
