    These will be 3 way. Crites cast frame woofers......B & C DCM50 mids......B & C DE10 tweeters.

Go you already have the DCM50's? i was just getting ready to put a basically new pair in the Garage Sale section. I will make you a great deal. I also have a pair of Faital Pro HF-102 Tweeters which I believe are a better tweeter. I also have a pair of their STH-100 horns for them as well.

Not trying to hijack your thread, I just like giving forum brothers good deals. I would rather lose money and keep the gear in the family. Kinda weird I know LOL! We can take it to PM.

Great looking build by the way.

  2. I know some significance exists regarding the size of the motor board but I am not there yet. Still experimenting. I will increase or decrease the size once I get there.

In the attached pic I was experimenting with 3-way with Dave's Elliptrac 400 and the Faital Pro HF-102 Tweeter and STH-100 Horn. Very nice but the horn I am trying now sounds better.

I got to do some extended listening today and I REALLY LIKE what I am hearing out of the new B&C Driver and 10" x 18" horn minus the Faital Pro. In fact this version mops the floor with all my previous iterations. And I tried the "Flatter" attenuation scheme on Voltis VX network for the first time and what a positive difference over the "Linear" version.

NEVER MIND what I said above. I will go as far as to say I'm done! I Love this sound and can stay Passive on this set of speakers which was my goal.

  3. I know it's cheating, haha! But I am enjoying the La Scalas with the brand new B&C 2"" Coax.,  DCX 462. As close to 2-way as I'll get with these. Built a pair of Volti audio VX XO's with Greg's permission. Really like the filter. I have a pair of original K-510 in the closet but I am trying the 18" x 10" EBay horn first.

  4. This is the current version I built and listen to. The tops are still in the experimental stage.

I had a pair of Knorn Bass Bins at the time I built these. Lost those when our home burned down. Made the tops modular/moveable so I could also use them with the Khorn bins.

You can't see the tweeter mounts in this photo. They are moveable/adjustable anywhere from the fronts of the two horns flush(tweeter forward) to the face of the drivers being aligned (tweeter rearward). I can easily align the tops with the bass bins as well. Can't do anything with phase of course but can play with time alignment to an extent.

La Scala bins are stock except the 1/4" MDF wrap I gave them and the veneer and grills.

  5. Got sucked into this little hobby of ours at the age of 11 in 1968. Started working in the stereo business in the Summer of 1973. By my graduation year in '75 I had bought my first pair of new Klipsch La Scalas which were connected to a Pioneer Spec 1 and Spec 2. Source was a Sony PS-8750 Table with a Stanton 681EEE and a Shure V15 Type III. *** kicking system, especially for a kid.

I acknowledge the beauty displayed in these recent photographs, but my preferences go in the other direction -- anything that can be done to make the enclosures less intrusive is good.

I have a 4 cubic foot subwoofer enclosure in my office. Not nearly as big as a Jubilee, but definitely not subtle. I finished it in white. It blends in with the walls so well that it's almost unnoticeable.

I understand and completely appreciate your position.I usually have to take that into account as well. Just not this time.

jorjen, is for sure the race winner when it comes the most beautiful Jub-like creation... ever!

Mine, I mean Claude's, I mean who ever he passed them of to turn out pretty nice.

I was lucky enough to get some technical advise from jorjen and jwc when I was in the planning stages... Thanks again!

When deciding hop to handle the K402s, I was inspired how jorjen gave his the look of a Klipshorn B cabinet, you can see my take on that approach.

WOW!!! I don't know about winning the race, those are flat out gorgeous Man! When were these built? I don't believe I have ever seen them.

As far as my pair, you may remember that Marion(Rigma)and I built our pair from the same plans. We were assured ahead of time by CBH himself that ours were as close as one would ever get to factory at that time. Once we heard that, the build was on.

I need them to retrofit Hoover Dam with solid gold wire in the generators and then replace all cabling to my home with platinum wire. I guess silver would be Ok.

i don't know about that one. Silver tends to be a little bright for my tastes.🙂

  9. What do you mean by " I still have no answer for the rear covers for the horns "? Do you mean how to go about it in general? If that is the case, what I would envision doing if they were mine really could not be much easier.
