  1. Colin, More pics as soon as I make more progress. Michael, I agree 100%. Cannot see myself parting stuff out. Besides, restoration is a heck of alot of fun.
  2. Tom and Rick, thanks, I am very happy. I will get some pics up soon. Gregg, I was actually thinking about pulling some old Sanyo stuff out of the closet for this special occasion.
  3. Fini, Very cooool!!! Picked them up Sunday without a hitch. They look great, not perfect as one would expect with '67's, but they will be after I get through with them. I will post some pics tomorrow and discuss my restoration plans. I still cannot believe I finally have Khorns, it has been along time.
  4. Tom got all the drivers correct, but they have the "A" networks. Pictures to follow.
  5. Well, according to Craig, the large "G" Scott case I bought is not going to fit with the Mullard KT-66's I bought, they are too tall. Bummer. I will have to check it out when I get the 296 back from Craig. Worst case scenario, I steel wool it and linseed oil it(or refinish it if it has a hard finish, have not seen it yet)to bring it back to life and offer it up here to someone who needs one.
  6. Mr. Klappenberger, I had the T2A's and hated to waste them. And, I do like using them as all the taps are on the front/one side. I do plan on making the woofer circuit change in the network, but I will probably not get to it for awhile. I want to get everything else finished and make the change last, just before I am ready to install them. Also, I am getting ready to build a set of your networks for my '67 Khorns. I am going to absolutely dazzle you with this project, I have got GREAT plans for this set of networks. I will use new #3619's from Universal in these as I want to leave the stock "A"'s as they are.
  7. Sorry Guy. I sent you an email, but left this part out. If I was going to do just one set, I was prepared to take the labels to a photo restoration service to be done. But I figured I was going to do at least 3 sets and it finally gave me the excuse I needed to buy a scanner, so I did them myself. Never having done this kind of thing before, I bet I had 8-10 hours into them if I had 1. But, it does not take nearly that long generally speaking. I had alot of time wrapped up in experimenting and goofing around with them. But I will say that they look as good or better than when they were originally printed. I know it is kind of a small issue, but I am still amazed with the results.
  8. Tom, Only a 272 and a couple Mark III's? Sheesh, most people should be so lucky! I have lusted after Mark III's since I was a teenager.
  9. You are right Tom, this will work great. At most, a cleaning of the screen and some #0000 Steel wool to the case followed by a few coats of boiled linseed oil(if this case is oiled like the other one I have)and she will be good as new. This 296 is really going to come together as a helluva piece!
  10. Thanks Guy, just picked it up using "Buy it now". Kind of pricey but what the heck, my 296 deserves it .
  11. DBFlash, They started out as beat up 1981 Laquered Oak Corns with cane grilles. Too beat up to just sand and reshoot. It is a shame how some people take care of things. They will have a Satin Tung Oil finish with Klipsch OEM brown grilles(to bring out the brown grain in the Cherry)when they are finished. More pictures to follow.

  13. Good idea Guy. If I do not ultimately construct one myself due to time constraints, etc., that is what I will do. Thanks.
  14. Thanks again for all the kind words fellas, I appreciate it. I hope to have pics of further progress soon, but with the impending pickup of my '67 KB-WL's this Sunday, I have not been able to drag myself out to the garage to work on the Corns, but I will. Greg, Restoring the labels was a blast! Great project for us anal types. I am going to cosmetically restore an EICO HF-81(NOSValved) and 2 Scott 299's(soon to be NOSValved), and I am going to do the same thing to the component/tube layout labels that come on the bottom. Just a nice added touch. Leo, I built your conditioner and used it on ALL the caps, including the Thetas. I can hardly wait to hear them. bcClarke, Yep, Satin Tung Oil with Brown Grilles it will be. They are going to look killer for non exotic wood. BigBusa, Yeah, me too.
  15. Keith, I cannot measure the faceplate right now as the 296 is on its way to Craig. The overall dimensions of the "G" size case are as follows: 17.5"W x 6"H x 13.75"D Thanks.
  16. I will see what I can come up with to get back there Dee. I am sorry to hear of your Mother's passing as well, my condolences.
  17. Just make sure your substrate is clean, dry and smooth. Any holes, fill 'em. Any bumps, sand 'em smooth. The stuff is not too thick so imperfections will transfer/be visible. Smooth substrate, smooth black ash vinyl finish.
  18. Take a look at the black ash adhesive backed vinyl available at www.partsexpress.com. Similar to black ash vinyl available on reference stuff currently.
  19. Wow, great stuff Larry. Glad you finally achieved what you were looking for. I will have to take a look see inside my '67's for these blocks, after I pick them up on Sunday of course. Fini...I used to love Clutch when I was a kid, what was the dogs name, "paddle foot"?
  20. Hi Dee, Would you mind havin' a darned Californian show up? My aunt and uncle live in Little Rock and I have not seen them since my mother(born in Fayetville in '23) passed in August.
  21. Got your mail, Thanks Ed. Keep me informed if you make any headway with Jim. Happy St. Patricks Day! 3 days to Khorn time and counting .
  22. That is probably what I will do Allan. I have an extra screen/cage so I am good on that. I will make an exact duplicate of the original. Routered relief for the faceplate, cut out for OEM screen, the whole enchilada.
  23. Yeah I know, mighty TALL order. Oh, by the way, just checked FedEx Craig, you should have the 296 Friday.
