  1. I was told by a guy at tweeter that the RF3 II's were a little less harsh than the RF3's. He claimed there were complaints that the RF3's were to harsh in the upper end so they scaled it back a little. Dont know if that's true or not. That's just what the sales dork told me. And he claimed to be a Klipsch fan.
  2. I run a B&K Ref30>B&K 7250 (200wattsX5) into RF3 II's and have had em cranked to +6db. It's wwaayyyy freakin loud. 20x15 room. So yeah, that's not as loud in a gym. or whatever you guys are talkin about. I'm way impressed at how much they can handle. The louder they are the better they sound.
  3. say what they will. The reviews from owners on the audioreview.com page are, for the most part, higher than just about any other speaker. cheap or expensive.
  4. I can't coment on the marantz. Although Im sure it sounds good. I currently run a Ref 30/7250 combo with RF3II's and i think the sound is amazing. as does everyone else who listens to my set-up. I can definitely recommend the B&K. matched with a Ref 30 and you have some of the best stuff out there for the money. IMOP j
  5. I've heard that when some of the 192khz 24 bit dsd (or other non-pcm recorded material) starts comming out, many of the higher frequencies will be too high for a ribbon tweeter to reproduce. And that a horn tweeter will be able to reproduce these high frequencies without breaking a sweat. Can anyone tell me if what I've heard has any truth to it?
  6. Depends on what you listen to. If you listen to stuff recorded in the studio, the sound is gonna be crisp and clean so a warmer sounding amp, like those macs, would be sweet. especially for the price. If you listen to live music like myself, a b&k 7250 or ST220 (2 ch) would sound nice. you have a pretty warm sounding amp matched with a crispy klipsch horn. now that's tastey.
  7. I was originally running boston VRM-50 bookshelves with a 7250/ref 30 combo. i thought it sounded really good. then i bought a pair of RF3's and wow what a difference. way more dynamic range. i think the bostons are still nice but im not sure they're a good match with b&k. but damn....RF3's matched with a ref 30/7250 combo is outstanding. throw in a nice sub and the center and surrounds and then throw in the talking heads "stop making sense" dvd and i guarentee you'll have all your friends dancing in your living room. mine were this past weekend. for about the 10th time.
