  1. I had the same issue with a pair of KLF-20's. I removed one of the tweeters and found all of the backing screws holding the unit/diaphragm together had come loose. Tightened everything back up, sounded as it should. Give that tweeter an inspection. Hope this helps.
  2. There should be enough veneer to take off the main coloring of the original finish. It is hard to describe in a short answer, thus the invite to contact.
  3. I have done this before. The first thing you will need is patience. Take the speakers down to bare cabinets. Get yourself a palm sander and starting with 80-100 grit sandpaper sand these down to bare wood. ALWAYS sand in the direction of the grain.Proceed thru 220 grit, 330,400. That should give you a nice surface to work with. Then STAIN them. DO NOT paint them. You will lose the grain. It will take you a few coats of stain, allowing time in between to dry complteley. After they are the correct shade of color you want then seal them with polycrilic. I advise to use a paint gun if you can, if not use the aerosol. It is very hard to brush on the acrylic without leaving brush marks. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
  4. I also have the RF3's as mains. I feel there is a pretty good fall-off below 80hz therefore I set mine to small and let the subs do the rest.
  5. Thanks for the back -up NHL. Are you the only one with the balls to call out these fools? I will set the record straight then I will not respond or offer any more items to this forum. I DID NOT GET ANY "INSIDE" INFO FROM THIS FORUM!!! I am more than capable of scanning ebay to find either what I am looking for or to stumble upon a good deal. This so called buy it now was up on ebay for over two hours!Maybe one of you so called "loyal" Klipsch fans should have taken advantage of the info on this forum and snapped them up for the good of the entrie forum and then sold them for what you got them for! Also, I am going to have to drive for a couple of hours to pick these up.As well as the fact that I am taking a chance sight unseen. Who knows, maybe they arent in great condition or even good condition. For all of you who feel you have some "rights" to all the Klipsch speakers on this planet, get over yourselves. For those of you who feel that I am offering you a good deal (as well as myself), feel free to say so. Maybe that will shut up all of the altar boys on the forum.
  6. It looks like fini is the only gentleman on the forum. If you are interested, make me a decent Klipsch lovers offer and they are yours.I was thinking around $550 (for the Cornwalls).According to the owner they are 1st version in Walnut.Remember I have not had a chance to inspect!
  7. Anyone who is interested at this time, please feel free to email me. But remember I have not taken these into my possesion and I have not taken a close-up visual/sonic inspection.I took a chance on these and if it pans out I will pass on my good fortune with forum members. I will not sell these to anyone until I am confident they are getting an accurate description. As for the unneccessary comments,I Dont know what Todd L.'s issues are and I really dont have time for it.Any items I have sold have been below Ebay prices and those who have bought have been very happy. Feel free to take a look.
  8. I lucked out and won that auction! Someone has contacted me and is interested in a possible Heresy center . Anyone else interested in one Heresy? Otherwise I will be selling the pair(as well as the Cornwalls).Let me know!
  9. If you were happy with the NHT , I can reccommend the NHT U2 sub system. Dual 12's(two seperate subs, very compact cubes) powered by a seperate amp and crossover. Very smooth , musical sub with plenty of impact with HT. Very impressive engineering!
  10. I have almost the same set-up with the RB-5's. In my opinion the RB-5's are as good as the RF-3's if not better in the midrange frequencys. If you like to listen to 5 channel stereo especially the RB-5's are the way to go. If you dont jump on the deal give me a holler. I would like to go to 6.1 using all RB-5's. Hope this helps.
  11. If you have preamp outputs on your reciever, run the sub(using a Y connector) off of the front main output. Make sure you have the front speaker setting on LARGE and the subwoofer setting at OFF. This should get you by.
  12. Take the "good" woofer and swap with the problem woofer to eliminate the amp as the culprit.
  13. I will second that the problem lies with the muting circuit on the reciever. If you want to double check, use another sub to see if the pop continues. If so, then all signs point to a bad muting circuit.I am speaking from experience on this issue. Hope this helps.
  14. I live in San Diego, CA. Zip 91901. It dependes on what is wanted. I may split it up. Let me know what you are interested in
  15. Any interest in a 7.1 system consisitng of a pair of SB-3's, a pair of SB-1's,a SC-1 center, a pair of SS-1 surrounds and a pair of LF-10 subs? I would be willing to make someone a great deal. All speakers are in fantasic condition. I also Have a Denon AVR-3801 if there is a need for a 7.1 receiver. All trades/offers considered. Thanks for looking.
  16. Velodyne makes servo subs, but so does Paradigm (with the Servo-15). For the money it is hard to beat. I have also auditioned the new NHT U2 dual sub system. Outstanding!
  17. For shear slam I agree with The Ear. Given the fact that you are looking for a musical sub,the Velodyne or Paradigm is clearly the better chioce in my mind. The servo units are very smooth and precise with ultra low distortion. They will pack a great pop in the 70-80hz range, and even though the 30's have two 12inch woofers the upper end of the servo's will fill out your music.
  18. How about this: A Denon AVR-1603, a pair of Klipsch SB-3's a SC-1 center a pair of SB-1 surrounds and A Klipsch LF-10 sub for $700(if you are in the market for somehting used but very well cared for)
  19. I have the 30's. The two best subs I used were the Paradigm Servo-15 and the Velodyne HGS-15.For the money,go with the Paradigm(you should be able to pick one up new for just a bit more). Hope this helps!
  20. $500 and its yours. Let me know. Thanks for the interest. (BTW that price includes shipping).
  21. I have an Academy center speaker for sale in Black Oak. Comes in original box with the owners manuel. Some light wearing on the edges ,otherwise in great shape.Grill is in excellent condition. I am open to offers . Shipping will be from 91901. Thanks
  22. I am selling a set of Synergy speakers for a HT set-up. It consists of: SB3 mains , SC-1 center and SB-1 surrounds. All speakers are black satin and in excellent condition. Shipping would be from 91901. Asking $400 for the set. Thanks for looking.
  23. I currentley have RB5's all the way around. I have an opportunity to run a RB5 in place of my current RC3 for a center channel speaker. Any thoughts if this would be an upgrade? Do you feel that the RB5 can perform as well or better? My concern is the dual woofers vs. the single would leave me shy in the bass dept. Please give me your opinions. Thanks
