  1. Hey M00N--It was good to see you post, but sorry you are having problems. I have all of my speakers as well, but when the RSWs run into problems it will be a sad day if I can't get the Preamp/amp...Fwiw, I don't think Magnolia is going to be able to help you, so I'd call them first.

Really? I thought it was just a fluke that I blew the bash amp in mine 8~9 years ago. I really hope that if it's the bash amp that needs to be replaced, I hope it's the last time. Do you know about how much they run?

  2. For grins, I just plugged in my cell phone to the input on the sub. Used a 1/8" out to a RCA splitter. Still got the low rumble and occasional warble in noise. Made me wonder if that warble was some kind of low frequency trying to make it to the sub from my cell phone...

Not a very good test but wanted to see what would happen. Calling Best Buy to see if I can visit their Magnolia Hi Fi department to bring in both my receiver and sub for testing.

Hey M00N--Call Klipsch and see if they still have the preamp/amp for that bad boy and get back with us--Afaik, they use the same one for the RSW-12 as well and If the price is right I may order a backup. B)

Hey tdk... How the hell are you? Been forever! I still have my RF7, RC7s... Awesome gear, but alas, I screwed something up yesterday. :(

  4. Hey all...

I have not had my home theater setup since we moved into our new house some three years ago. Wanted to setup my sub yesterday. Not sure exactly what I did wrong but I'm wondering if I blew it up somehow? OR possibly damaged my receiver.

With my sub hooked up to the sub output on the receiver ( Harman Kardon AVR-7200 ) I get a buzz rumble now. The buzz rumble will increase/decrease with the volume knob.

One of my fears is, is that I may have damaged my receiver. I had accidently hooked the "output" on the sub to the sub output on the receiver. Wondering if that may have sent a power surge to my receiver which could have damaged the sub woofer circuit on the receiver.

Is there an easy way to test if the sub is still working properly?

    Thoughts?

  5. Well, never mind... It's working again. Not sure what I did. I unplugged the jacks from the sound card. I unscrewed the amp from the sub box took it out looked at it. Looked for any blown fuses, any fried parts... Nothing wrong. Plugged one of the jacks into my cell phone to see what would happen. Sub woofer worked great. Put the amp back in the sub box, hooked it all back up to the computer and wala, everything worked great again....

    I dunno.....

  6. Hey all..

I've had a trusty set of klipsch quadraphonic set of speakers for about 10 years now. It's a THX 4.1 pro media system. I just noticed today that my sub stopped working...

Yes, I checked connections and ensured the sub volume was turned up. Checked my computer settings and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed.

Has anyone ever tried to repair one of the sub amps that stopped working? Guess, I'll have to find out if Klipsch has replacement amps for the subs

  7. 1: motorboard - I have done this with a cheap drum sander attachment for a drill from Harbor Freight. Make sure you actually have enough room to make the old hole 5 inches for the 6 inch driver first.

Apparently there is enough room. I've seen other guys on the internet doing it. One guy used a car speaker, says he liked the results.

2: I would use the Eminence. I have a Bill Fitzmaurice XF-210 I built which is using two of the Swamp Thang drivers. Excellent!

Yeah, I like Eminence, I have them in one of my other amps.

If you don't like the sound from the Eminence, you can open the back up and see how you like it. I built a convertible (removable back) for different tone and loudness depending on circumstances.

Actually, you can't take the back off on these. The top and the back is one formed peice of sheetmetal. They have about a 2" tuning port in the baffle, but I've heard that the 6" speaker will cover part of that up. Not sure how much of a big deal it would be in a small little practice amp like this.

  8. I don't have a clue but nice to hear from you. Big Smile I guess what ever one is easier because neither is made for a guitar.

My wife will still not stare at anything on the computer waiting for something to happen or change since you posted that video, her jumping was so funny I almost hurt myself laughing.

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH my gawd, that is funny!!!! Funny thing is, to this day, I still worry every time my mother sends me something. I got her good back then too. Eh, that's ok... I litterly screamed like a little girl, threw my headphones across my cube and fell out of my chair at work when someone sent it to me.

Good lord... Thanks for the laugh.

  9. Hey all..

I recently purchased a little Roland Microcube amp. It's 2 watts and has a little 5" driver in it with 4ohms impedence. The speaker in it now is not all that good so i want to replace it. I have two choices so far but not sure about either of them...

    Option 1
Eminence is widely used in guitar amplifiers, they have a little 6" speaker that caught my eye and it is 4ohm impedence. The problem is, I'd have to modify the.... damn what's it called again? The baffle???? Is that right? Anyway, the part of the box that the driver mounts too. I'd have to make the hole a little bigger.

    Option 2
Then I also found a speaker from Dayton Audio, I believe it to be a normal loudspeaker driver. It's a 5" running at 8ohms. It fits, but, it's not a normal guitar amp speaker.

So, here are my questions. What is the better option? Sticking with the 5" Dayton Audio speaker, but a speaker that is not used as a guitar amp speaker, that runs at 8ohms, or get the 6" Eminence speaker from a company that makes guitar amp speakers, even though this particular speaker is most likely not a guitar amp speaker either.

Lets say I go with the 6" speaker, I have to modify the cab, in such a small box, in a non hi fi application, will it affect the tone much, that I'm altering the cab and putting in a larger driver?

OR, if anyone else has any suggestions for a better speaker for my little amp, I'm open to suggestions!

  10. Wow.. it has a been a LOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've been here. Whats up everyone?

So, I've got a question about HDMI cables. Did a quick google search for HDMI cables and seen huge price differences. Seen some as low as $6.99 for generic, and then seen the Monster brand for some $77.00 or so. Is it a wrong assumption to think that the Monster cable is a bit overpriced? That you're just paying for the name?

Is there anything I need to be looking for when shopping for a HDMI cable for my TV? It will be going from our Direct TV receiver, to the new flatscreen.

  11. I just got a new computer with built in 7.1. running Windows 7. When I plug my 4.1 into jacks 7 and 10 which is the only combination
that will work, the front two speakers are not in stereo, in fact, they
are mono to each other. Has anyone else ran into this problem with the
4.1? If so, were you able to get past it?

  12. Hey all...

I have a very old 1969 vintage Kustom amp. it's an old solid state amp. Nothing digital, just old school solid state. Currently it's running 2 10" 8ohm eminence speakers in series. I want to replace them... Been pondering the idea of running two 10" RF7 drivers as replacments...

Now, having said that... It's been brougt to my attention that running 2 16ohm drivers in prallel would be more effecient, which if I'm not mistaken, the RF7s are 8ohm... Yes?

The amp is either a 50 or 60 watt amp... Not totally sure which it is.

Anyway... Any thoughts would be helpful.
