  1. I think, temporarily, I am going to try using my 1st La Scala as my center and my 2nd La Scala as a rear center. This would give me a 6.1.2 system. I am only part way through building my system.
  2. So I tried a few options and wanted to share my observations. 1) Left and Right Cornscala Center KLF C7. This is my current setup. 2) Left and Right Cornscala and no center. Basic idea was to use a phantom center. This was worse than option 1 in both me and my wife's opinions. Seemed to lack presence. 3) Left and Right Cornscala Center La Scala. Wow, this is why I want a new center. Dialog much better and some more bass. 4) Left Cornscala Right La Scala Center Cornscala. This is not a normal setup and not something I would ever do. Just trying to get a feel for the difference in speakers. The bass was really odd as the La Scala was lacking the low end of the Cornscala. Comparing the La Scala and Cornscala: Bass preferred from the Cornscala. Dialog and high frequencies preferred from the La Scala. I would need subs with a pure La Scala front stage. I used scenes from the Greatest Showman to A/B test these. I didn't rerun Audessy between setups and only made speaker configuration changes so it knew if I had a center or not. I used the first scene from the movie as it has great bass and some dialog. It also has some subtle sounds to pay attention to. I also tested the opera scene (chapter 11). I would say that I preferred the Cornscala in the first scene and the La Scala for the opera scene. Shouldn't be a big surprise. I think the best setup would be LCR with La Scala and subwoofers. I am hoping I can find a third La Scala. I can use it as a center. If I later get some beefy subs, I can switch my front stage to La Scalas and use my Cornscalas for surrounds. Either way makes for a nice setup. I should also mention that I have a nice SVS sub near field to cover the lower frequencies.
  3. Continuing from thread: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/181464-cl-klipsch-chorus-1-675-parrish-fl/
  4. I tested several options. Please see the following thread: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/181529-center-options-for-cornscalas/
  5. I did and agree that it is a bit overpriced. Thank you guys for your suggestions. I’m going to try my current La Scala as a center and just see what it is like. I will also try going without a center and see what that is like. Right now Audessy is dialing down my mains by 12db which seems a waste.
  6. I waited too long. These are sold. Just spoke to the gentleman on the phone. He will update the ad tonight.
  7. Would you be willing to ship? I am in Parrish, FL 34219
  8. Sorry my bad. The La Scala would be between my Cornscalas. These would be my rear surrounds
  9. Perhaps I could buy these as my rear surrounds and just move one of my La Scalas up front. Good idea or bad idea?
  10. You can always spend more money. This doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby, but it isn’t cheap either. Good luck with the new setup. I think you will be happy. Personally, I have put more into amps lately as they will stick in my system longer than an AVR or processor. Tech changes frequently, but raw power lasts longer.
  11. Both make good amps and have price points you can move up within their respective product lines. Honestly you should see a nice improvement with even their low end ones like the A300. Emotiva has a bumpy past with some people, but they seem better in recent years. Lots love their stuff.
  12. Unfortunately you will have to use the front left and right terminals. Emotive makes fine budget amps. You can buy more if you look for used, but your plan is a good one. I definitely understand buying new after your most recent experience with the Denon.
  13. No worries Zen Traveler. We are both trying to help
  14. So your new receiver, the 4400, has pre-outs. Take the front left and front right and hook them to your stereo input of choice. Then hook up your front left and right speakers to your old 2200 and you should b good to go.
  15. Does the AVR he is looking at have them? I thought it did.
  16. La Scalas cut off at about 45hz and Cornscalas cut off at about 34hz. That makes a significant difference for home theater usage. I do indeed have the dual down firing 12 sub from SVS and it sits about 3 feet behind my listening position. Perhaps at some point, when budget allows, I could add a couple more subs up front, but that isn't the priority just yet. I would gladly buy a used La Scala for my center if one becomes available. As Dave pointed out, that provides a lot of flexibility.
  17. Looking for a single Cornscala near Tampa. Shoot me a message if you have one to sell.
  18. Here is a thought. Keep your old Denon and repurpose it as an external amp. You could use it to power your surround speakers to keep that lad off your main AVR.
  19. If you are open to doing a little work, I have a suggestion. You could pick up a used Crestron 16x65 amp. They are designed to be whole home audio amps that work with Crestron control panels. Many are being removed from homes where they are updating to newer tech. You can pick these up for under $300. You can then bridge the 16 channels into 8 which nets you 8 channels at 220 watts per channel all channels driven. It is an incredible amount of clean power for super cheap. You would need to spend closer to 3,000 to match it. If you are interested, let me know and I can send you more information. I use this as one of my amps and it works great. Cheers, Paul
  20. I am familiar with his setup and we have spoken before. His is somewhat similar to mine. The only reason I was avoiding a full LCR La Scala setup is the need to add more subwoofers. The Cornscalas dig lower. I have an old SVS plus/2 as a near field sub now.
  21. Thank you. They are for my theater room. My rears are La Scalas with new crossovers and tweeters. I am about half way through updating my room.
  22. Thanks guys for the thoughts and replies. My Cornscalas are type B ones from Bob Crites. Basically it is a blend of the Cornwall and La Scala speakers. I will probably just buy another one to use as my center, but always like to check other options.
  23. Would these work well as a center for Cornscalas? They are right down the road from me. Would consider using them combined as one center speaker.
  24. I am trying to figure out my options for a new center speaker. My current setup is: Left front and Right front: Cornscalas Center KLF C-7 Left rear and right rear: La Scalas Atmos ceiling CDT 5800-C-2 Left and right surrounds RP-252 I feel my center is holding my system back and am looking for something that is more appropriate. Some options I am considering are: 1) Cornscala 2) La Scala 3) Cornwall Those are the obvious contenders. Would a pair of Chorus work too? Are there any other options I should consider? I keep looking for a single of one of those, but haven’t found one secondhand yet.
