  1. Now if we can have discussions like this from time to time I don`t see a problem with the "new forum". Your momma!
  2. Wow! Everyone looks just as I imagined. Well, not everyone. Or anyone for that matter. What a motley crew you all are. Very cool. Maybe I`ll make it out there someday. Looks like a lot of fun.
  3. I remember the first time I clicked on to the 2-channel forum. Man oh man! Here was a bunch of guys from the dinosaur age that was still listening to vinyl through 2 speakers powered by tubes. Jeez! Sounded like I found a board I could relate to. I was a vinyl freak myself and was very happy with my set up at the time. I didn`t have tubes. A matter of fact I had never really seen a tube amp until I came here. I listened to my Joe Walsh records through my ESS speakers powered by an Onkyo integrated amp. I had stopped looking for the next best thing as far as equipment goes. It was all about the music. Until I came here. Those Klipsch speakers must sound pretty good I thought to myself as I read thread after thread. But besides the music and equipment aspect of all the posts I read there was a very deep human side to this forum. Not only were people sharing thoughts, ideas and opinions but there was a comradely that I had never experienced before on the internet. Sure, there has been the good, the bad and the ugly war of words and mud slinging like you would not believe but through it all as a group, this bunch of audio nerds are a groovy bunch to hang with. Oh, I don`t agree with some and agree with a few but that`s life anywhere you go. I still consider myself new compared to many that are here. I don`t post that often and on more than one occasion have gotten my feelings hurt because I am such a softy. No ones fault but my own. Many here are very keen with the pen and I admire that greatly. I`ve toughened up some and encourage lurkers to register and start posting. An immeasurable learning tool for the audio minded. But it doesn`t stop there. I`ve learned a great deal about people and become more sensitive when someone has a different point of view than I. I`m always right of course but I never let on to the fact. That would not be polite. I usually say something like...IMHO, which is code for "I`m right so stuff a sock in it".Just kidding. OK. I`ll cut to the chase here. Me and my buddy JB can get a little long winded at times......................................................I love this forum and every cockroach that it gives a soapbox to stand up on and say what they think and feel and why. I love this forum for the vast wealth of information it has gathered over the years. A goldmine of audio know-how and trouble-shooting. This place is unique in more ways than one. Most of the personalities on this board are so LOL crazy (and I`m talking about the know-it-alls that I`ve learned so much from) and they`ve got hearts of gold as was exercised when a fellow member tried to sell his speakers one day. That was just beautiful. And I use the adjective "crazy" in the nicest way possible. I love you guys and you have taught me enough to realize I don`t know much about this hobby at all. I`m here now. I`ll be here tomorrow. And then some. PS. FWIW Officially my longest post.
  4. Without a doubt what so ever and the unequivocal answer to your question......What is the best bang for the buck Klipsch speaker? The pair you find and can afford to buy. It`s that simple.
  5. Congratulations on a sweet steal.....I mean deal.
  6. Smilin, My condolences to you and your family. She will always be with you, in your heart, mind and soul. Again, I am terribly sorry for your lose.
  7. Good Lord! That looks like pictures from a Circuit City back in the 40`s.
  8. Well I said Lakers in 7 and I was way wrong. Congratulations to Larry Brown and the Pistons for a dominating performance. Wish the Lakers had been totally healthy though. Only then may it have gone 7 games. Who would have won? Probably the Pistons. So much energy. I am a Laker fan in mourning.

That could cover a lot of ground... ---------------- LOL. Just playing with ya. I became a fan of her`s as a young teenager when the Superman album came out. Before that I could not stand here. But that cover.........and you should see her back....I mean the back of the sleeve.

Basically, whatever my parents MADE us listen to on road trips Although I still can't stand Barbara. Out of this world voice, but out of this world mouth to go with it. ---------------- Amy, I will not allow this thread to take a political turn. You have broken the golden rule by allowing your political views to be expressed in an audio forum. Anymore of this nonsense and I will be forced to close this thread. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Got you!
  11. I find it funny when people make general accusations about others and have no clue as to what it`s like to be in that person`s position. I always live by the rule....."Walk a mile in my shoes before you judge me". That being said, I do not want this thread to turn into a flame war. I`m just saying leave Karl and Gary be. They left teams that they served very well for years. Both players are in their twilight years and left teams that were in rebuilding mode. Going to a more productive place was a no- brainier. Karl could have stayed with the Jazz and broke Kareem`s scoring record but he opted to go to a team where he get`s less touches and less money for the chance at winning a title. Who are we to judge?

Well said.

There`s got to be something you like now that you didn`t then. Just one?
  14. With all the talk lately concerning music and its rapid decline I thought I would pass this on. Good interview. Extremely insightful. Click Here

(2) Gary Payton.....He`s whining right now. ---------------- ...when is Payton not whining...? From watching this and the previous series', it seems like everytime Payton has a call go against him hes in someones face... ---------------- Yeah, Payton is infamous for this but that was not my point. Gary still has not accepted his role as a Laker and when they lose he makes it a point to let everyone know he`s not happy with it. Gary has done a lot to shape his role with this Laker team by being inconsistent at both ends of the floor. I will give him the benefit of the doubt by acknowledging that I do not think the triangle offense is the perfect offense for him. But hey, it`s not the best for Kobe either, and he makes the best of it. My point? Stop whining to the press and PLAY. You got business to take care of. Just do it. If I may be bold here.....I really beleive.........Lakers in 7. WE MISS YOU CHICK. In our house we break out your bobble-head for every game, but it just makes us miss you more.
  16. The two reasons the Lakers thought they might win the title this year are the two reasons they may not. (1) Karl Malone.....He`s hurting right now. (2) Gary Payton.....He`s whining right now. I`ve been a Laker fan since my Kentucky days but if they don`t win game 4 then you can say good-bye to this particular team forever.
  17. Funny, isn`t it..... As time passes, one reflects on the music they were surrounded by while growing up and in turn grows to embrace it. Or is it just me? Is there a band OR artist that you thought in your younger years that you would never ever listen to, that you now just cannot get enough of. I love some of the old southern rock I grew up on. Never thought that day would come. Remember, this is about music you hated as a kid, not new music you just stumbled upon recently, or the last few years. OK.......GO!

I suppose it would be easy to misinterpret that, but given the opinion and passion behind Southern Man, I could see how some might take offense, irrespective of the validity/lack of validity of Mr. Young's lyrics. But I still maintain that the Allmans shred on all of the Southern bands......listen to a good live version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" or "Mountain Jam" and you'll come to understand why it's game, set, and match. ---------------- Yes. Most definitely a shot. But a friendly one that they all had a laugh about. As far as the best SRB, I think it is a matter of opinion. Made up by who you listened to in your younger days, who you saw live and so on. There is no best. Only your favorite. IMHO. I love the Allman Bros. They had their own niche. Just like Lynyrd. As a kid I hated both bands. Living in Eastern KY back in the `70`s through the early `80`s I listened to Petty, Springsteen, The Beatles, Neil Young and punk music. I was too hip for the status quo that was popular with all my friends. Funny, isn`t it. As time passes, one reflects on the music they were surrounded by while growing up and in turn grows to embrace it. Or is it just me? That`s another thread I guess. I`ll start it.
  19. You are right. He played with Richare Hell, Lou Reed, Matthew Sweet and so on. I saw him play with Lou back in `83 in Santa Barbara. What a show! One of those names in rock that just never got the recognition he deserved because he was not a writer. Just a DAMN GOOD GUITAR PLAYER! Rest in peace Robert. You will be missed but your work will live forever.
  20. I was just giving out a link for others to get to easily. I do not have the answers Chops. This inquiring mind is curious about these tubes also.

  22. You do know that the boys in the band and Young were friends didn`t you? No harm intended. Just young boys having fun.
