Have you given much thought to the Ortofon carts? Seems to me that their "Ultra Low Mass" carts may be a better match for the Black Widow which is extremely low mass in its own right. I think I have an OM10 around here that you can play with if you like. (Needs a stylus

I'm surprised that A Brown Soun proclaimed your AR woofers "unrepairable". They did my AR-10pi woofers for about $65 each. Not the cheapest but the work they did was terrific. When I was looking for local speaker repair services only two companies came up: A Brown Soun in San Rafael and Neal's Speaker Repair in Sacramento. Both had high recommendations. Neal's web site is http://www.nealspeakerrepair.com/.
Best of luck!
Too bad! The Ortofon X3 has a non-replaceable stylus...the cartridge must go back to Ortofon for "re-tipping". Try a Grado "red" at about $100...should sound impressive with the T****ns.
I only have high regard for the work done at A Brown Soun. They re-foamed the woofers on my AR-10pi's...cost about $100 complete. Only wish I had them go over the tweets and x-overs too...these things sound much more shrill than I remember.

1. I have "owned" my '78 Cornwall COO's for 4 years and love them dearly.
2. I found these when I was 54.
3. 58
4. Found them at a thrift store...What A Find! No marks or scratches and sound wonderful.
5. I'd be inclined towards Heresy because of size. House is too small.
6. Definately! PWK's legacy.
