HI AMPED great post you made on November 3rd last year (pg2 of this thread)... by any chance... do you still have a copy of that RB-5 schematic that you can post???
Here it is. Yes, 3 caps per board- values listed in the pics on pg 2 on the receipt. 2 Sonicaps, 1 Erse.

Hi Henry , it still is , the overall ST 70 Dynaco amp design was great , simple , and affordable , but the electronics PCB in the cloned version is a nightmare
The PCB in my VTA ST120 is fiberglass with fully tinned thru-holes. All components were in spec (confirmed by me). Instructions were thorough and understandable to someone who hadn't soldered in 20 years. Once populated it cleaned up with 99% isopropyl. I've since had to use flux remover on more recent projects from other vendors. The support from Roy and Bob Latino (now retired) were above and beyond. It was a great project that didn't smoke on startup and sounds fantastic. They also have a helpful forum.
What is the "nightmare" you refer to? From what I've read, the Dynaco /Radian ST70 (v3) uses a full PCB with no hardwiring. The chassis is bigger but they didn't take advantage of the additional room. This one wasn't a clone.
As this is a thread on beginner tube amp projects, please share your helpful, firsthand experience and the PCB clone you worked with.
Respectfully,
N

New one on me. Guess they are located online of course. Maybe an option for some.
Congrats!
Thanks!
Here's the link: https://www.fastenal.com/fast/blue-lane-freight
Basically- you drop off at one of their branches after making arrangements, it's shipped on their trucks and picked up at the branch on other end. I guess they're filling space on the truck.
I put up some pix on the "what I got today" thread

My Chorus 2's purchased in pre end-times, May 2019 in FL. Lovingly watched over by a good friend, doing me a favor. They finally arrived home to NY this morning.
Played for about an hour and I will say, it was well worth the wait. They sound big, full, and present. Of course I'm comparing to my RB5s. WOW!!!

Just putting it out there-
Fastenal just shipped my Chorus 2's from central FL to Bklyn, NY. It took 9 days. My friend busted his butt getting them there on a pallet. Each speaker fit almost exactly in a U-haul "space saver" garment box with 1" of pink panther foam board on all sides. Fastenal were great to deal with on both ends and very patient with us noob shippers.
PS, I got them for a good price in 2019 and they're like hen's teeth up here so it was worth it for me. YMMV

You should ask Roy what he thinks- info at tubes4hifi as he may have more experience with this pre. Also consider posting on that forum as there may be more users of this preamp.

Another youtuber he's more of a guitar amp guy but good build habits if a bit ASMR:

To me, Mr C made some sense given my skill level. On the other hand I agree, these tubes shouldn't be so spendy if they're short lived. Being NOS, ANOS, whatever, it didn't add up.
I have a video but it's 163mb so, too big to put up. Not using dropbox anymore. It was only one of the Tungsram pair that flashed. I have 4 NOS Brimar CV4003's and the 2 I've used, don't exhibit this behavior. They're in a built by me Bob Latino VTA ST120 (think Dynaco ST70). They sound absolutely fantastic btw.
Yeah, you seemed a little "Medwin having a bad day". Thank god I didn't ask about favorite caps and why... ; ]
Anyway, glad we're good.

Hey Captain,
Sorry I helped perpetuate a lie. Maybe you can let him know so he can correct this.
I got a pair of Hungarian Tungsram ECC82's that did this. I'm fairly new at this and it was the first time I'd seen it. I looked everywhere to find out why these tubes flashed when none of my other ones did. That was the only explanation I could find. BTW they were $35 for the matched pair in Jan '19 so not holy by any stretch...
Just trying to learn and definitely not an engineer.

He's got a good one on the "mullard flash" too.

Apparently, there's no schematic for the RB-5
I got this one from Crites when I re-capped my crossovers. BTW, I just replaced like values w/ like values so it didn't help in MY situation.
If it's not supposed to be here, Moderators, please take it down.
