  1. can't say I will notice.... take that back I'm sure there will be bikers thru town. We will hear them . . Seemed a little odd seeing them parked in front of the church last week. There are some "trees". They were shading up. Bar is "open", sorta. In a limited fashion There are 2 or 3 tables on the patio. No hanging at the bar. Cuts the regulars out. Boy said the ranch is taking guests. Not many at a time... small groups.. families
  2. ... and folks wonder why they never see me. they never saw when I was single, either. I worked sun up to sundown. They knew I was alive by the flowers and garden.[I had some soil to work with there. My friends tease me about growing in a soil-less medium here].. ... and loud music .... I guess I am not a very social person... I like people, but don't seek them
  3. you mean aside from normal cleaning the house, doing yardwork, cooking, laundry? Her b'day was last week. She hasn't had a chance to go spendin'...
  4. Can't take credit...I didn't start that one ... I did contribute. I didn't take a suitcase. No room.
  5. I can see potential for some positive changes to our culture.
  6. I put a pair of LS in a Nissan Versa Note. I'm 6'2"...and I could still drive it the 2000 miles home.
  7. Mornin' All Working up to human... 2 cups down... Fooking cool this AM, again. Doesn't feel as cool as yesterday. It was 42` [yesterday] according to accuweather... No bite in the air this AM I raked [more] dead weeds. Wife had a busy day ... especially for not having the kids... though she maintains adults are much more difficult. Came home with a big box of food/grocery items. "I HAD to take them, Bill". there is a church in GreenValley that has taken the school as a pet project. They made boxes for everyone at the school. Starting with the kids. In these tense times, it is really nice to see people doing some good things. There was a murmur from the parents, "It's a blessing"... No sooner than we got the car unloaded, SIL calls... The "X factor" has been quiet for a while... She is the flying monkey wrench you hear about getting thrown into the works... She was in a complete tizzy over a problem with her bank card. Self-inflicted... then one of the local 'kids" came by, asking if we had a fax or copy machine. No... sorry. We did a work around. Wife has a tablet. It takes pictures. So, she did that and e-mailed.... Wife didn't get to sit down until 8PM. Oh hey! We got our "stimulus check/s".... We were issued a paper check. No idea why ... but, we got ours. I'll never see mine. Happy b'day, wife. I just hope she doesn't blow it all paying bills. She rarely buys self-indulgent stuff... hope she breaks form
  8. Being retired, I was relying on wife's work schedule to give me some sense of what day it is/was... I can tell you the moon phase w/o thinking.... day of the week? I might know. Date? HaHaHaHa HaHaHah She is "off" for the summer, starting next week. Now, I just ask every day, "Do you work tomorrow?"
  9. Mike, Ya do know it is Wednesday, right? My computer sez it is, anyway...
  10. Mornin' All I ain't goin' to bald jokes. There's more of you .... I got y'all whipped in the chicken legs competition... Starting out with an uncharacteristic cool/er AM. It's about 45`. Might be a touch warmer than that... not by much Half closed up the house last night. Don't need to "bank" cold.. Only gonna be in the low 80's. Windows and doors open. That might sound warm... it is that temp for a minute or two before it starts going down. Debating on giving the swallows a ledge to build on. They are building a nest under the eave, right outside our bedroom window. That will be good for the cats' sanity. Chuck, How did/are you fairing with the storm? No damage and wet?
  11. Good things I like folks planting Victory Gardens. More locally produced meat and veggies. I bet we could get a beef [on the hoof] cheap and easy. With consent from the rancher, too. Had to add that. It would be easy enough to snag/rustle a veal.
  12. We can bbq and watch air to air combat training. don't know why they do it over town except we are 12 miles north of the border and it gives them a landmark to keep them in bounds...
  13. sounds like a good job, if you can get it... We have an aerodrome in the backyard. The swallows appear to be moving their nest site from the front porch to under the eave at the back..We leave the doors open.... They will almost fly into the house. Cats are going crazy.
  14. @orchardaudio welcome ...if you need a crash test dummy, I volunteer
  15. I get the impression Chuck has more hair.
  16. they better start putting new sports on tv ... we are watching PerryMason and AndyGriffith. That's not a good sign
  17. Mornin' All Fresh coffee two days in a row. If I wasn't so cheap, I would pour that leftover out. Guest star on PerryMason last night ... Commissioner Gordon from Batman series... I picked him as the guilty party. Wife and I have a little game with this show. We guess who is going to die and who is guilty before the crime happens. The guilty one is always someone peripheral. None of the obvious suspicious characters did it .. too easy. And Perry never defends the guilty. Spose I should talk about the weather... We are in for a cold spell. Only gonna make 85`. That's below normal. Average is 92`. wind is ushering the cold in. Gonna be a day to put rocks in my pockets. Tie the VW down. Haven't been to the lake. I bet it's down a foot from the last time I was out. It drops fast this time of year. Like watching the tide go out. Might be able to walk the bank soon.
  18. you are in luck. when folks were developing some of these fancy schmancy flowers, they forgot about fragrance. You have to look to find SweetPeas that are fragrant. Many are not ... now. Roses, too.
  19. Jujubes, ours anyway, come like sweet, rather dry - not juicy, crunchy apple. No tang to them. Kinda flat. They're sposed to have some value in folk medicine... a "relaxant" Whatever that means. When they dry, they do resemble a date in flavor. Not near as sweet. And they have a pit, like a date. We don't get many. The coons like them, the woodpeckers like them .... in the desert, any fruit will draw a crowd. We can tell when the prickly pear are ripe by the purple faces on the dove.
  20. rubbing alcohol is typically isopropyl. They might use denatured ethyl [ethanol]. IDK . Everclear is ethanol. related Ethyl is used in hand sanitizer ..there were complaints about children drinking the hand sanitizer and getting drunk... one solution presented was to use iso instead of ethyl alcohol. That'll fix 'em. Instead of drunk, they get a trip to the hospital
  21. you sound like my wife complaining about my garden... Some smell like toxic waste. You wouldn't want to come in the doghouse in the fall. I do have a strain that does smell like gardenia.... she doesn't mind that. I am sensitive to smells, too. Perfume should be detectable from no more than 6 inches away. One day I needed to go somewhere and spritzed my pits with the boy's AXXE or however it is spelled... Had to drive with the windows open. Was still gagging when I got to the BP checkpoint. @dtel You might enjoy our Jujube trees. They are in bloom right now. Nothing for showy flowers -- tiny green things... Like mango or lychee flowers... they are fragrant, though. Remind me of the smell of lime jello. It takes a stoner to appreciate skunk or burnt hair and mango chutney.
  22. like the difference between men truck drivers and women drivers. Men drive hammer down and women run wide open
  23. We have a bush, grows wild, that looks like holly. Its leaves have a pricker at the end of each "lobe", it is a point like a maple.... They manage to land prickers up and I think it is by design.
  24. related I worked at a plant nursery.... A person came in, asking what kind of flowering tree they could plant that didn't make a mess... I told them, "Plastic or silk"...
  25. Ah Good Morning All Fresh, hot coffee this AM. Didn't have to kill the leftovers first. too quiet. I forgot to engage the music. I could hear my remaining brain cell bouncing the walls. Gathered the piles of dead weeds I raked up. Now I can get back to stacking rocks. Had to cut weeds to get to the next "building" site... One thing leads to another... If you recall, I had to make a handle for the whip sickle in this process. Feels like the song "Hole in the Bucket"... Can't fix the bucket because there's a hole in it.
