  1. oh... computer stuff I would have been fixing it to a point an idiot could tell what's wrong "It broke" you're a better man than me
  2. grasshopper sez, "No man can be master. One cannot know all that it takes" in the grand scale of things... we don't know dookie @Tarheel How you doing? My time frame is skewed. The map I saw, looked like the storm is breathing down yer neck. Or was that a projected thing
  3. can't speak with any authority on it quite satisfied with what I have, so I don't shop my amp is a vintage Harmon/Kardon 630. 30W/channel pushing a pair of LaScalas. Half volume is concert level.
  4. Wire is a contentious topic solid copper, mutli-strand. ... I suppose silver or gold would be better How long are the wires needing to be? If you are making long runs, heavier gauge I think folks are using 12 or 14ga, generally speaking. I will be set straight if I am misinforming you.... I'm kinda new to the intricacies.
  5. Splashdown!!!!!! This stuff can't be taken for granted... it's frig awesome!!!!
  6. I spent 2 months in AK... January and February. I don't like going places in tourist season... Casual observation covid doesn't seem to be bothered by extreme temp, that we can survive ...
  7. I slept in... and missed the cool of morning. Ain't nothin' happening outside.. except sitting in the kiddie pool now. We got a sniff of rain last night. Dandy light show... no rain. Better chances predicted today. They always say that. I'll believe it when I can feel it. Seeing it isn't good enough. Frank [my pizza predator cat. He doesn't get into things... but pizza is too much temptation -- Garfield ain't got nothin' on him] caught a vermillion flycatcher this AM. He was headed into the house with it. He's neat about these things. He takes his catch to his bowl before he eats it. No feathers all over the house.... Took it away from him.and tossed it toward the ash can... and it flew up into a tree. I was quite surprised. Wife went to church... I did my Sunday thing. Vacuum. Then time for my "services". Don't have to worry about bothering the neighbor... she's at church, too. Turn the music up...
  8. I think we are gonna find out. See how it likes hot and dry --------------- scratch that. it doesn't seem to care
  9. you were mentioning Death Valley that is just about anywhere away from water around there. Seriously, I think the Mojave Desert/DeathValley is just west of the ColoradoRiver.
  10. I can only imagine folks from the UK going there, this time of year, to see the London Bridge... it was moved to Havasu City.
  11. I don't consider myself "normal"... never have @Islander I have a friend, known for stretching the truth, that lived in Havasu City... Claimed that those are normal temps. I dinna believe him until I went there. See my description of being there.... Palm Springs and Indio are quite warm, too. That they can grow dates says something..
  12. ..if Carl is OK... somehow that makes me feel more "normal"... We got brushed by a storm last night. Cooled things to comfortable. can't complain too much about the heat here 121` in Lake Havasu City. You can only stay in the water so long. Then you go to a bar. Then you wonder why you are in Havasu City.... and then leave to find a more humane climate
  13. I went to the Dr one time about my back... he said, "Get used to it". So, I don't bother complaining about it to him. I do as much as I can, the hard way... part of why the push mower and whip sickle. . If I don't work it, it gets worse faster. Talked to an old friend today. Been years since I have talked to her. Known her since I was a kid. Been thinking about how relationships change. She is a friend's mother. Since I have known her for over 50 years, she is no longer Bob's mom... she is Pat.
  14. My sis is on the western edge of "the cone of uncertainty"... midstate.. Greensboro
  15. Tucson had 5 days at or below normal... The rest were 5 -15` above average. Been a hot summer... dry, too. We have a boat shaped kiddie pool and a hose to fill it. I cleaned the "pool" today. Bleach, scrub and refill. Laid it it afterwards... The tap water was lukewarm and not refreshing. Didn't notice being wet until I got out. Was like sitting in the bathtub. Internet went down for several hours, after a we suffered a couple of quick brown downs. Not typical of things. Used to the electricity flickering, then going one way or the other. ... and the powers that be want us to rely on the internet. on the news talking about sanitizing things I heard that we can sanitize our masks using the car as an autoclave. 150` for a half hour [or something like that] will kill it. And "they" suggested it. "They" may have changed their mind/s, but....
  16. We're not bragging on our weather right now... it a little uncomfortable we do not have an A/C or even a swamp box.... which won't work with what humidity we have. It's not real high. Doesn't take high r/h to stop a swamp box from doing anything appreciable. I don't borrow tools. Seems that every time I borrow something, it breaks and I end up buying one for the person I borrowed it from. I skip the middleman, now, and just buy what I need. Get a warrantee too. .... and, if I needed it once, I'll need it again.
  17. plenty of old goats up there. Just not 4 legged https://www.sahuaritasun.com/news/goat-is-killed-by-forest-service-after-terrorizing-hikers/article_1d941ff5-84b7-5ed7-8829-defcccaa9252.html we have a few bears. Don't find them "down the hill" very often. Weather will drive them out from the hills and down into the valley. https://patch.com/arizona/tucson/bear-spotted-santa-cruz-county-community
  18. Oldtimer said it... that shed is near as big as my house... Same here. Our house is 800 - 900sq/ft.... minus the 8 for the LS. Something a little different. A few weeks ago the forest service was warning hikers in Madera Canyon about bears. Yeah, we have a few. Nothing noteworthy there... Today, on the news, they are/were saying hikers [in the same area] have been being , and I quote, "terrorized" by a couple of goats. That is unusual. We don't have feral goats, generally speaking.
  19. we haven't had enough rain to make green. I have a patch of tif-green. It hasn't done anything. If I hadn't watered it , the ground would still be hard. I can see dirt between the grass. because I know that if you think you saw something move ... you did. I spent ten or 15 minutes looking something I saw move...then watching. What I saw was a bunch of small beetles. No bigger than a grain of rice. They moved real fast and then stopped. Looks like they were hunting. I saw one take out a gnat size thing. Am I taking life a little too slow? Nice, Elden Those metal buildings will last forever down here. You don't even have to paint them. Plastic and rubber have a short half-life here. I come across old beer cans when I cut wood.... The ones that take a church key.
  20. Mornin' all How's everyone? Looking like we're in for another hot one. Shaping up to be a long, hot summer. We got a spot of rain yesterday. Knocked the temp down for an hour or two. Then the sun came out and it got [I dare say] steamy. Not to folk anywhere else... Still calling for chance of rain. Can't say it won't be sunny and hot enough to stir a few storms up. It gonna be warm if you are where it's not. Nice right now. High 60's/low 70's. Sun isn't quite up, either. not sure what flavor this coffee is. Tastes extra good this AM. It's either Peruvian or Mexican. Those are my regulars. Contemplating buying a van. Buddy has an older Chevy [I think it's a Chevy]. I need a "toter" type vehicle. Mostly to haul the boat to the lake. A trailer and hitch will cost more than the van... Not to mention the road makes trailering an adventure. Lots of little dips. Near qualifies as a narrow mountain road. You can pass a vehicle from the opposite direction, but ya both have to run right to the raged edge of the road.
  21. I assume you can check the heating unit with a VOM. If it's good, I would look at the "timer" and/or contactor for the heater or check for voltage at the heater. Maybe use an amp meter on the line to the heater. Just because there's voltage doesn't mean there's enough amperage... Don't ask how I learned this... it wasn't the easy way, for sure.
  22. Run the machine empty and not hooked to the "ducting". Get and idea of how much air it's putting out
  23. you can use about anything or nothing to make raised beds... DO NOT use railroad ties. creosote in/on them I am using "raised" beds in my little garden. Keeping up with proper watering is a must. A couple years with drip, at this place[ I used it with great success at the other house] taught me that I don't know how to use it correctly or...and resulted in crop failure. Back to hand watering and doing better... so far.
  24. too much heat here. Southern AZ I have gardened in heavy clay and sandy loam... For above ground things, except cubrits, I prefer the clay. Sandy loam, like at our place at the bottom of the hill, would grow anything as long as you kept it watered. The clay would crack before stuff needed water.
  25. folks that have seen my "garden" here, tease me about growing in a soil-less medium What soil we might have, gets washed to the bottom of the hill... where my other place [and real garden] was. this is just a rotten piece to try gardening on. Sand, rock and decomposing rock.. shale and granite. The weeds don't even do good. A backhoe is the first impliment you need to soften the ground up. "Topsoil" might be 2inches deep. Shovel goes "Tink" and stops abruptly every attempted plunge.
