  1. The sound waves are not too long to be heard in your room. How do they get 10hz in cars then? Your room placement is bad. ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8 This message has been edited by killerbee_vr6 on 07-18-2002 at 03:57 AM
  2. I'd love to get the ALK crossovers, but I'm 23, live alone and have a big house with no close neighbors. I need the tweeter protection circuits methinks. So... I have the AL network in there right now. Should I look for AL-3s? Or AAs? ------------------ Gabe '83 La Scala birch raw '93 Chorus II black '94 Forte II oak oil '93 kg3.2 oak oil KSW-15 Ksw-200 SW-8
  3. LOL, the day my wife MAKES me sell something is the day SHE gets sold.
  4. 199. The 1602 is the current model in Denon's main line. They often make models with odd nomenclatures for foreign markets or to eliminate competing with themsleves. Stick to the 1602, or the 1802 if you can... This message has been edited by killerbee_vr6 on 07-17-2002 at 06:35 AM
  5. Yeah, it's funny,I have a KSW-15 I'm using with the Scalas and I have it set to about 30% of max, with the crossover set to 40hz. It fills in just enough low bass that it really slams.
  6. I think the Chorus II is a better speaker overall as well, but the La Scala is not as bass limited as some describe. They made no bass in the original spot I had them in, but playing with room placement improved them considerably. This message has been edited by killerbee_vr6 on 07-12-2002 at 08:32 PM
  7. You guys with thin sounding Scalas must not have them set up properly. I spent about an hour this morning sliding mine around and found they hit like freight trains about 10 inches from the rear wall. I'll never go back to non horn-loaded bass. No, they don't pressurize the room like my Chorus IIs and RSW 15, but they are SO tight and clean. There is so much good, clean bass if you get it right. Wow.
  8. The color is actually ok in person, but the guy didnt bother to apply the clear coat to the innermost parts of the horn. I think I'll lightly sand the whole thing and refinish them in a slightly darker stain so it's all uniform.
  9. As I haven't seen these in person, the finish color issue may be moot when I do. My monitor gives them an odd orange hue. It seems as if this isn't the color other people see. I'll wait until tomorrow morning when I get them and report back. I would ideally like raw-looking speakers, but it seems as if this is not really possible with this set.
  10. The seller said he had them stained then sealed with clear urethane. He also said the moulding around the hf border was not factory. I'm thinking of removing the border, but i dont know what to do about the finish.
  11. They are type LSBR. Im guessing unfinished birch?
  12. 31y064 is the serial of the one i have a pic of. I haven't picked the speakers up yet. They wont fit in my car like the Choruses did.
  13. I just bought my first pair of La Scalas, but they are an odd color. I call it "old man brown". They are two years younger than me. In any case, the color has to go. Painting them black is an option, but I'd like them to be a natural color. Is it possible to do this? I'd ideally like them to be lighter. Please help. 14. Wasn't the LF10 pulled from stores for bad amps? They were at the store I worked at.
  15. I damaged one of my Chorus II k-79-k diaphragms trying to dynamat my horns. Klipsch has apparently changed the k-79-k to the k-72-k. It appears to be some sort of plastic substance instead of the metal mesh in the original. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but I LOVE the replacements. (replaced both) They are noticeably more detailed than the 79s. I guess "brighter" would be applicable but it isnt objectionable. They seem to extend higher into the frequency range and seem smoother as well. My room is bright, but they sound great. Cost: $44 plus shipping. I'd try it and see at the very least. gabe
  16. I got a set of new Chorus IIs for $150. Still in the box. I worked at the good guys and sold them to myself...
  17. Can anyone help me find plans for a pair of La Scalas? Also, where can i locate the drivers/crossovers. Thanks.
