  1. Guy, Don't forget "tcb", and "sony"... BTW: Syrah is a beauty.[] more later. Kudret
  2. Gilbert, You've got mail. Kudret
  3. Greg, I have Sovteks in them, and they prefer matched pairs. The preamp I've been looking for has just turned up on Audiogon, so Sovteks will probably stay in service for a while longer. Kudret
  4. Greg, I was thinking about bidding on them but I will stay away.. There will be other quads. BTW. what will be the fair value of such a quad? Kudret
  5. I was using four round (soft) rubber feet instead of mushrooms. Gilbert is going to need to buy mushrooms if he wants to use them. The rubber (motor belt, motor mounts, flywheel, toneram coupling and bedplate, etc.) did not seem to deteriorate over time. All are in excellent conditon. Kudret
  6. Thanks, Allan. Thrust plate (grey teflon plate) had a very small dent (which I've read is normal) and it was in very good condition. Kudret
  7. Gilbert, I will definitely remove the armboard and the tonearm from the tt, and pack them in a separate box. I was also thinking about removing the sub-platter/bearing as one piece and pack them separately. When you receive it, you'll have to put some oil in the bearing reservoir and put the sub-platter on. I believe this is the safest way to ship it, unless there is a better way. Kudret
  8. Thank you all for this very enjoyable reading. My Khorns came with Type AA's. I noticed a big improvement when I installed my DIY DHA2xovers first. Later on I tried Type A's and I did not take them out since then. I like the fact that Type As open up quickly at low volumes. This was something that DHA2xovers did not do as well for me. I was planning to get Dean's Type A's with V-Caps but other priorities had to take precedence. I am also tempted to convert DHA2xovers into Alk Jrs to hear them myself before I decide to make Type As permanent. Kudret
  9. Gilbert, I just replied. Sorry everyone for wasting bandwidth...[:$] Kudret
  10. Craig, Yes I did. I changed Jeff's layout, had the plates punched by my neighbor, painted them, and did all the wiring etc. There are many more hi-res pictures here. Kudret
  11. Luther, One of the best DIY work I've ever seen. Congratulations. Not SET, but here are my JFL SETH 2A3 PP amps: Parts alone probably cost me over $2000. It was all worth it. [] Kudret
  12. Allan, I've seen the picture of your 124 with SME 3012R (first on my list) before but this is way cooler. Gilbert, I ended up getting two TD 124s a while ago. I've got one mint TD 124 mk II with SME 3009 that I was planning to sell. Let me know if you are interested. Kudret
  13. Thanks, Tony. I got a reply from a seller on eBay and I am waiting for a confirmation. I might be able to get it for $140 shipped. Kudret
  14. Poor soundstage is the only problem I am having with my Khorns. They are on the short wall (17 feet apart, which is the worst dimension it could be) and there is no way I can put them against the long wall. I often thought about getting a pair of bookshelf speakers, but I guess efficiency is a problem with bookshelf speakers, especially since I will be feeding them only 8 wpc. Kudret
  15. Jordan, I am interested in MX110 tuner/preamp, MR67 tuner, and Marantz 7T. Can you send me his email: kkibrisli@hotmail.com Kudret
  16. Tony, I did some reading on AA and Grado Prestige Gold seems to be a good choice. Would you happen to know where it can be had for $150? Kudret
  17. Thank you john and tony. I heard about Grado's entry level cartridges (green, red, etc.) and I was looking for something better. These seem to fit the bill. Kudret
  18. Wade, Can you comment on the amplifier you use, type of music and how loud you listen to, etc. I am also curious about the AP12-AK3. Kudret
  19. The diamond on my Shure VN5xMR stylus fell off and according to some posts on AA this was a common problem for some Shure stylus. A quick search on google for a replacement stylus revealed that it will cost me around $200 to replace it. I've read good comments about Denon 103 recently on the forum and I was thinking of getting one. I remember that Denon 103 was available for $125 at the time but the lowest price on eBay now is around $150. Does anyone know if Denon is still available for $125? EDIT: Ooops! Denon DL103 is an MC cartridge? In that case what would be a good replacement MM cartridge for V15Vx? Kudret
  20. Edmond, Congrats on your gorgeous Horus 2A3 amps. I am extremely happy with my SETH 2A3 amps (another one of Jeff's marvels). I also have the Welbornelabs DRD 2A3 SET amps that I occasionally rotate with the SETH 2A3, but SETHs always come back in and stay longer. Kudret
  21. Thanks, Don. I haven't purchased from partsexpress but I've done business with the other two. If one were to go all out on the caps, which caps would you recommend for the Type A network?[6] Kudret
