  1. He is completely excited to get them, He was texting me to jump on them but i was out with the Grandkids and missed the text. (Dam Kids, Lol) I hope it works out. we do alot of trading and speaker talk, He has the Klipsch Bug now.
  2. A good friend of mine in Biloxi is going to pick these up Saturday, The owner says they are cornwalls. If that is true he got a hell of a deal. I will ask for pictures when he gets them.
  3. Went back down to the shop to check, Yup solder lugs. Wonder why the were both replaced by the factory? So as far as the crossovers go, just a straight forward recap or upgrade to B2? Opinions seem to be all over the place on that question. There are a few areas I can take veneer from inside the cabinet from the lower ledge board to repair the outside veneer. Worst case I can reveneer them with some nice white or red figured Birch or something more exotic. Tomorrow will be stripping some small areas on the bottoms to see how much stain I can get out of the veneer. If the came in Raw Birch they should not be that dark I’m assuming. Played them for another 30 min and I am Impressed with the sound quality. I have a set of K55v drivers that are spring loaded connectors, is the sound that much different from the solder lug 55v’s? I was picking up parts to do a few builds and am curious now. now a question on the Cane grills. What’s a good method to clean them? You can see in one picture that the grill material got wet near the top and looks cleaner than the rest. Will this cane shrink or fall apart? There are some frayed areas I’m going to fix. Also the cane where it’s attached to the grill boards at the back is unglued, any ideas of adhesives used to attach the cane? overall I’m pretty satisfied with the deal, traded a receiver I restored for the speakers and a few vintage pioneers that need a little attention. Thanks for all your input and help.
  4. Hi Dave, I believe they are solder lug, I did not grab a picture before I closed them up. Anyone know what the "R" stamp indicates on the mid?
  5. Thank you Billybob, I'm going to spend a few hours time listening to them tomorrow. I have some good caps on hand If I decide to recap them. I am going to mess with the finish on the bottoms tomorrow to see if I can remove some of the stain put on before repairing the veneer chips. Somewhere in my shop is a small collection of Klipsch Birch from old cabinets that were salvaged so maybe I can make some work to improve the looks. also have some Mid driver Gaskets to put in. Also picked up a few old Pioneer receivers in the deal so more stuff to play with.
  6. Ok, Here are some Nudies, insides look like new. I don’t think they have ever been opened and both sides are identical. I may use pieces of the inside veneer to repair the outsides and decide on fixing the finish. Tags say raw birch but they looked stained. Cain grill fabric is coming loose from the mounting board, and there are a few areas to fix. Any good advice on cleaning them. One was attempted at one point.
  7. Well I made it home with them. Cabinets are a little dinged up and chipped here and there. I can address that later. They sound very good, cross between my Belle’s and Heresy’s. But a lot more bottom end.
  8. Meeting the Man with the 1981 Cornwalls Saturday morning, Nudie pics coming soon.
  9. I will, the guy with the 81 cornwalls wrote to get pictures of one of my amps for sale and is considering it for his speakers. The there guy will be back from offshore friday, he has the cornwalls and a rough pair of Birch LaScala ( his words) waiting on pictures.
  10. He came back with $1150. I think I will drive the 2 hours to see the others, He seems open to offers.
  11. Thanks Billy, maybe I should have started there. The Owner has not responded yet, hopefully he’s not feeling insulted. I have a line on a oiled oak 1980 pair and possibly some 1977 Birch LaScalas. Fingers crossed.
  12. No problem Randy, glad they are getting use. I just sent him an offer of $900, it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive to see them but it may be worth it. I would like to put these with the Belle’s. I’m getting the Heritage Fever pretty bad. Hopefully it goes my way with these. Thanks for the Input. Vimce.
  13. I’m considering a pair of cornwalls in my area. Birch raw that was stained years back, some veneer has been ripped off at the top edges. Owner says they sound great. Not sure if the grill fabric is original, at least the badges are there. What’s a reasonable offer to put to the owner? A few pictures included. Thanks for any advice.
  14. I’m looking into getting a nice tube amp and decide to sell off some of my SS gear to fund a purchase or trade for a decent amp. I have been repairing and upgrading old SS units for awhile and want to try my hand at some tubes. this Sansui has been fully recapped Minus the tuner board, I go through all the transistors, diodes and resistors as well. Install new DC and Bias trimmers and fully clean and treat all switches and Potentiometers, connectors and components. Adjusted to factory specs. Now this unit had a bad tuner display chip and has a new one installed on a milled mount. All in all looks great, faceplate and knobs are super clean, wood cover has a few blemishes. I can shoot a video if interested. Asking $500 plus shipping. Trade values around the same.
  15. these had the trim put on the front and some grill added, I don't think the factory added the trim, there has been a lot of discussions about that on various forums. No real consensus though. I checked ebay but no luck yet. I have the search saved.
  16. I'm thinking something about 12 inches tall, I have a set of risers I may redo.
  17. Hey all, Im Saving/refinishing some Heresy 1 decorators I picked up. looking for stand Ideas from those who use them. something simple that I can wrap in matching veneer or black finish. The structure of the boxes was solid, consecutive 1977 serial numbers. drivers all worked and look pretty good. All the Birch veneer was pealing, lifting and just plain nasty. These were lugged around for church events and seem to have tossed and banged around quite a bit. BTW if anyone has a need for grills I have a set that came with these. I will not be using them. Here is the veneer I'm working with. also a few before pictures. Thanks for any Ideas.
  18. I have a pair of pro badges, looking for OEM style. Thanks

  20. I picked up a pair of 1977 Birch decorators that has the bullnose trim and grills that need to be re veneered and am in need of some badges to finish them off. I checked all the usual places. Also is anyone here doing the repo labels for the rear panels? mine are a bit tired. here's a pic of the nasty boy. Thanks
  21. I found a set of rebels some time ago with the EV drivers, here some pictures. I really have not found any info on them, built by Cabinart. 12 EV co-axial drivers that sound pretty good.
  22. Because you can, sometimes you shouldn't.
