I just noticed, yesterday it has been two years for me on this Forum already! Looking back, I thought "How can people write 2k posts? I wouldn´t know how to post half as many about anything..." Look at me now, a little over 1k myself, "re-discovered" my Heresys, that´ve been standing around in another room for years, found lots of new tunes here and stretched my feelers into a lot of new stuff. It´s been a fun two years, thanks to all of You guys!!

Yep, that´s the "big brother" to my two units. Would like to have one, later. Right now, prices for these are going through the roof these days, same as the direct driven Duals. But i still have a PE2020 that I have to fix as well. New platterbridge arrived yesterday, kudos to a member on the Dual forum, who has lots of spare parts.

Follow up: Put my problems up on the Dual Forum. That spring might not be that important after all, there were units with and without it shipped. I might get a spare platter bridge, a guy will take a look at his spares box. And while I´m waiting for the parts: Got the 1214 running again! oiled the bearings in the motor, now it´s quiet again. When putting it back together, there was a point where the mechanics locked up, somehow i fixed that. Pitch gave some trouble, fixed that (almost, will have to look at that idler wheel again... Not sure, but I think it´s off-key sometimes... So, might be slipping just a little bit sometimes...). Now, test-run. Put in that new stylus I got some time ago. Playing "Breakfast in America" - side A for the second time, with the new stylus now. The old one definitely was worn out, the heights sounded a little "frayed"...

Looks like the revision of my Dual 1218 will take even longer. There´s a spring missing and the platter bridge is damaged. The later wouldn´t inhibit playing, but the changing-function will not work. The spring i must replace. No changing? I can probably live with that. Of course it would be nice to have it all working...

I´d like to know too. The K86-K isn´t mentioned specifically on the Crites site, can one of the other listed diaphragms be used instead?

If I´m not mistaken, the woofer with the round magnet could be the replacement one, it is stamped "R".

Natural birch ( No stain, paint or special verneer). Decorators were shipped like this, so the customer could decide how to finish the cabinets, hence the name "decorators style". And one with an (exotic) verneer, just to show what can be done.

Hello and welcome to the Forum! If possible I would try to go for the wood finish as these are decorator-style Heresys. These can look great with a nice oil or laquer wood stain, that is, if You can get rid of that old paintjob... As mentioned, these are supposed to go without grilles. As mentioned above, there seems to be another Klipsch label on the cabinet, painted over. These are sought after original parts, maybe You can save those. A nice find, just needs some work. Nice that they sound great "out of the box".

Picked up the idea on the net myself, but thanks for the laurels. 😉 It´s very versatile, made my rack and a nice shelf for CDs and stuff so far.
