( <= Sorry for american people, i was just speaking some german words with KT88 who lives in a beautiful city) Marvel, you're right. Maybe they have a transformer inside. If so, I'll remove it. Sometimes in Europe, the sound is broadcast to 100 volts on the wire, then the transformer down for the speaker. It is used for a long length of wire for less loss. I hope you understand what i am explaining .. my american spoken is very very poor, i am so sorry. For the speakers, I will tell you all, if the business is done with the seller, if these speakers are good or not. Perhaps they will have an alnico magnet, it could be in the years when it was used to increase the flow in the gap (space between the coil and the magnet). So let wait and see
  2. Hi KT88 you know, the seller is ok to sell the pair to me for one hundred euros (so about 115-120 $) but the shipping costs are about 50 euros, something like 60-65 $. I think i will take them. He has just to test the resistance (ohms) to say if the coils are not broken. He can't make other measures, he just has a simple ohmmeter. In CC, they shall have something about 11,2-11,7 ohms, i think, if the coils are not cut. To send them back, it will also cost me 50 euros. I think i will keep them and begin a Atlas Sound Museum 😀
  3. Yes, you are right RandyH000, it is exactly what you say.
  4. i will try to explain you how it is on my little island. (sorry i use google translate to help my poor american spoken) Yes, i am in the European Union but in an ultra-peripheral region. It is a island as others in the European Union that have an economic delay. To compensate for this, the European Council has put in place a tax system to promote local products and prevent imports less expensive than local productions. I know, we do not produce locally speakers but taxes hit everything that comes from elsewhere to get back into the pockets of the town halls and local institutions. To return to the Atlas Sound PD-5V, the person does not sell them very expensive. I just told myself that would be interesting to test them on my clones scala. As I see, you are not very interested in testing other speakers. The drivers are indicated in 16 ohms. I guess there is no transformer in it, you do not think so?
  5. On radiomuseum, i have read that it could probably be about year 1965, near my birth year !! so it seem to be very old i don't think that Klipsch used them .. or better said, i have never seen klipschorns or other models from klipsch with these drivers
  6. so old ?? i hope they have phenolic diaphragm and that they are working.
  7. ok ... if the coils are not out of order, i think i will buy them .. i hope they are working, and if not, then, i will open a museum 😀 RandyH000, thank you .. if you can have the specs of these drivers, I take them happyly
  8. but i find nothing about them on the net. The seller is very far from me ..and i can't test them.
  9. but i think, they are perhaps the earlier product of the pd-5vh
  10. Someone can sell to me a pair of vintage Altas sound corp pd-5v drivers. Have someone of you any informations about these drivers ? Have these the same bandwidth than the now product of pd-5vh ?
  11. i would not take a long time to buy the AK-6 at this price or better said I would not take too much time to think about buying the AK-6
  12. Perhaps you have not the good drivers for your crossover .. I made La Scala clones with al-3 type crossovers, eminence kappa 15c, atlas sound pd-5vh squawker, b&c de10 tweeters ... but i found a hole in the mids .. The pd-5vh (like k-55-v) is not made to work with the al-3 crossover witch was done for the k-55-m Since that, i have built type-A crossover and it works much better. But i also have genuine Cornwall IV .. and they sound very very good.
  13. Nice buy .. i would be happy to find the same khorns near my home. I see that the AK-3 crossover is like the AL-3 one's .. After all, it the same speakers inside
  14. Great job Jazzpassion - it is really passion i was too lazy, i bought 2 Peavey FH-1 cabinets ..😁 but i made like you my own horns with wood
  15. I was just making an answer to RandyH000. What is wrong for you or with you ? Are you so much against people who is not from your country ? I only was a little happy to change some words with Randyh000. Have a good beginning of the week
  16. Perhaps thé al-3 works better with the EV drivers but i didn't find any
  17. in the meantime i have built a type a filter and it works much better. I think it is because i use Atlas sound pd-5vh drivers and not the electrovoice k55 m drivers
  18. yes too many fees ... and shipping cost for example when i buy something that has an initial price from 100$, i add the shipping costs (for example 50$), the international fees (i don't know how much - it depends on the items bought) and then, on my island they take percent of the total price item + shipping cost. for hifi, something like 25% of 150$ (100+50) + 8,5 % for the county (departement in my language) + 2% for the custom services ...
  19. when you buy something from Europe, is it also expensive like for me buying in the USA ? for me, the price is x 4 the initial price when i want to buy something in the USA, for example 2 k-401 horns or 2 Dave A SmallH horns for B&C de120 drivers
  20. If only I could find these horns in France ( i mean the DaveA sMAHL horns .. i have already the DE120-8) on my La Scala clones i have put these ones (with B&C DE10 drivers).. but i find them too big
