Hey everyone
I just got them!!
They look and sound great..(I will attach photos)
Only issue is that from the smell I can only guess that they were stored in a humid place.
So my questions are the following:
A) would you recommend any safe way of cleaning the grilles?
The same for cabins and horns etc?
C) Any suggestions on veneer maintenance? -oak oil - (I am located in Greece/ Europe so I guess if anyone knows any non American products it would be Extra helpful 😅)
D ) Finally would you recommend that I took them to a technician for a "check up" ??
Personally I’d just wipe down cabinets and horns with a damp cloth to start with. Someone else will suggest a preservative. As for the grilles try a vacuum cleaner first.
I won’t recommend a tech for a check up. Listen for yourself. I downloaded a tone generator app so I can check the frequencies. If all the drivers work just enjoy them!

I like black satin or flat black paint, I'm not crazy about the gloss.
Gloss black shows everything.

You’ll need to make sure the surface is clean and free of lint and other debris. Then apply a light coat followed by a second. Maybe a third depending on how well it covered. Clear coat probably isn’t necessary.

Went and got a Covid test a couple weeks ago (I'm good) and they weighed me.....down another 13lbs for a total of 110lbs in 3 1/2 years.
I also found out that my work boots weigh a whopping 10lbs by themselves. Time to put them on a diet as well.
Lighter boots are a game changer!

Check all connections. I’ve had a loose plug cause similar problems. The Emotiva should have no problem driving those.

I just ordered the HII to HIII upgrade kit earlier today. While I have these speakers appart, what other modifications/upgrades do I do?
Good time to oil the cabinets.

That's what I call service!
It's only about a 5 1/2 hour drive from Chicago. I went to collage in Carbondale back in the early 80's.
Through my coworkers, there use to be a airline flight direct from Chicago to Paducah which has been recently omitted.
OT but my boss went to SIU in the mid/late 80s.

Ikea Kallax shelves.
Perfectly sized for a stack of LPs, and can even be closed in later stage if you wish (dust and such).
Takes less space than big cases usually seen in record shops and that many people like.
Certainly need bracing. People have had those things collapse.

Quartet or Chorus. Heresy is great but will probably be lacking in bass compared to kg4.

It’s a shame those woofers get dents. I’d probably pass on them too.

The easiest solution is to sit on the stairs. It's noticeably better sound up high but it still sounds great when in my usual sitting position
Buy a nice ladder. 😉

I'm wondering why the speakers sound better from above. My ceiling shape is / | (not to scale or pitch). So as I go up the stairs I have a vertical wall behind me and the sloped wall above the speaks.
Could be the reflection from sloped wall.

Maybe raise the rear of the speakers an inch or two?

the woofer seems to have a defective voice coil .......any speaker shop can replace a VC , no need to recone the woofer , they remove the dust cap , unsolder the leads , remove the VC , clean the gap area , and in reverse mode , , they install a new VC with shims , solder the leads , re-glue the VC , 1 h labor plus parts
Hope they have a nearby speaker shop. I’m lucky enough to have one a mile from my house!

Very! You feel it.

I was using 5 Heresy 2 and wound up using KG.5 for rears. It’s a small space and they made more sense. I can’t recommend what I haven’t heard. Just my experience.

Thanks for all the response to the posting. I’ve been out of town so apologize for my late response. I think I found what I’m looking for, and more. Going to head to the Lexington, KY area in the next couple weeks to check a few different pairs of speakers out.
Let us know what you come up with! Safe travels!

Most of the Transports in EVERYONES equipment are Panasonic
At least they were years ago when I looked into this
I’m inclined to agree. Panasonic/Matsushita(sp), Sony, Pioneer, and Teac seemed to have the CD-ROM market cornered back in the day.

I know you said without screws…. Put slant risers on them backwards and use a small discreet safety cable from one of the rear cover screws.Or you could even screw through shelf into risers.
