  2. haha, I wonder how many of those calls resulted in follow ups.
  3. they look like something that JVC would make to complement a shelf system, or something else of equally departmentstore-esque quality.
  4. I'm not sure, I think they might be the new reference line....I must say I do not find them attractive at all.....way too plasticy and cheap looking for me, I suppose if they sound good they might be ok though....

  6. nice set up man, that tv looks awful dinky compared to the speakers though....then again, they say the auditory side of home theatre entertainment makes up for much more of the effect than the visual, and you have more than enough there to compensate.
  7. I agree with formica. It would be easier and result in a much higher quality end product to build from scratch then to try to build out of office furniture.
  8. driver issues maybe? all of my friends who have it report that it runs fairly well, and they too have lesser systems than the first two of you.
  9. why has no one mentioned Charles Mingus yet?
  10. I'd go with the kilimanjaro. It will do a better job of keeping up with the Lascalas, and because it's a sealed system rather than ported, it should put out a more clean controlled sound, which is what most people look for when setting up a specifically music system. It will also have less distortion due to the much higher driver surface area.
  11. a virus technically could not survive that journey.
  12. actually dopping is extremely common in pro biking...I'm not saying that he uses this procedure, but considering how many people have been busted for it or are suspected, it wouldn't really surprise me either.
  13. it can be attatched to various things if I remember right. I saw it once with a big square panel attatched to it as the cone. Doudou, 2200 watts at 2 ohms and 550 at 8 ohms are not at all the same thing. Just because the resistance is different does not mean that the watts do not exist. If it is a 2 ohm rated driver, and you have an amp capable of delivering 2200 watts at 2 ohms, it will have four times the amount of amplifier power running through it than an 8 ohm 550 watt amp. Also, your reasoning for determining that it is 550 watts at 8 ohms, or vice versa is flawed. It takes a very high quality amplifier to double output when resistance is halved, even though on paper that's what should happen. I can guarantee you that none of the RSW amps would double if you halved the resistance
  14. that could be a sign of something as minor as a loose wire vibrating against the driver or enclosure, or something as serious as a bad voice coil, you should be able to tell by taking them apart.
  15. it is better to have them both in the same corner than in different corners.
  16. I've found sometimes that taking a towel (cloth) and running some pretty hot water (the type that you can't hold your hand under for too long) and soaking the towel in that, then taking it and scrubbing the goo with that works sometimes...I haven't, however, tried this on nice expensive speakers, so do so at your on discretion.
  17. I have a JBL PB-12 in my home theatre set up running with SF-2's, SF-1's, and an SC-1...spec wise it's identical to the sub you just bought, except that it's downfiring. It was also priced the same, so I imagine they are essentially the same sub. It does fine in my home theatre, though it isn't the cleanest sub...Because of this it's not quite so good for music (bass sounds loose and with less control than my mains) but that's what i have the RSW-15 in the reference system for
  18. Everything Denon makes is butt ugly, and look at the back panel of those things.....$6,000 for a headache . Not only would your money go much farther on seperates, you also wouldn't have to live with the embarassment of having to say you spent 6 large on a RECEIVER. As for the prefering everything in one component....this is such an idiotic statement...after you get it set up it's the diference between ONE press of a button (turning the power on for the preamp and amplifier) and after that there's no diference at all. People really have gotten lazy.
  19. I'd rather have the subs on the front wall with the mains. This is reccomended by most other set up guides to avoid cancelation and to create a more seamless low end with the mains.
  20. my bro has some of the premo dura-ace stuff on his bike, and it seems to ride very well.
  21. Road races for juniors will often only be one or two laps of the circuit. This will usually work out to around 20-30ish miles. Criteriums very depending on how the officials set up the race. If it's a timed race it depends on the pace of the riders because in this case the officials will set a time (50 minutes for example) and after they complete that time, they race 5 laps afterwords. I'll ask my brother about the components the next time I talk to him, but I'd personally be inclined to get the shimano.
