  1. Weren't you having a harshness problem with your LaScallas? How did you correct it? What do you like better about the LaScallas vs the RF-7's? Harshness?? Due to poor recordings and improper speaker placement. Moved speakers to correct problem. Some recordings sound bad. While others like Pink Floyd - The Wall, Van Halen II, and Natalie Merchant -Ophelia sound wonderful. RF-7s are great for movies but I think just average for music. I just prefer the sound of a fully horn loaded speaker for music. Just my opinion and I believe thats what the OP is looking for.
  2. Gave her a listen this weekend. Very nice!
  3. I just sold my RF-7 system and bought LaScala II's. LaScalas win handsdown. If you are strickly watching movies then I would say RF-7 system. If you plan on the mains pulling double duty (2CH and Movies) then Heritage. What is the room size?
  4. So far I am looking at the following: Cambridge 840C Rega apollo or saturn Since I like McIntosh MCD-301 Decisions.....Decisions!!!!
  5. You are frack'in right!
  6. if you want to lower the HF section....all you need to do is put the LF section on 4ohms and the HF section on 2ohms. Putting the LF section on 8 homs and the HF section on 4 ohms will also lower the HF by -3db. Difference in the later is a tad bit of a turn on the volume knob. When I do this I use the 8 ohm tap on the LF section and the 4 ohm tap on the HF section. Just a matter of personal preference. Maybe I was not clear on this but without a jumper between the LF and HF, what are the technical specifications for each? 4 or 8 ohms etc...
  7. FOund some info over on audiokarma. Looks promising, but 5K.........
  8. When is the MCD301 coming out? How much? Let me guess my frackin LIVER!!!!!!! [|-)]
  9. jc what is the AH cd player? Guys I was just quoting the price of a Mac at $3.3K, but the player is now $4.5K. Don't want a 3K cd player. Eating Mac and Cheese would get real boring...LOL!
  10. That does look interesting speakerfritz. For the low end that sounds like a plan. But for the mids they are already on the eight ohm tap. What is the nominal ohm reading on just the HF on the LSII? What is the nominal reading on just the LF on the LSII? Relocating the speakers did help. I am sitting on my couch about 8 feet from the speakers and the soundstage is much better. THXS
  11. Sub is not in the mix. Talked with colter today and made some changes to speaker placement which helped some. I will keep at it as time permits but this is a temporary dwelling. Moving this summer!
  12. Did you guys know that a McIntosh MCD201 is $4.5 K? Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!
  13. larry......... The nook will be in my new place. One reason I chose the LSII's over the KHorns. I will have hard wood floors on the entire level that my speakers will be on. When I was in the model I noticed a very hollow sound when carrying on a conversation. So room acoustics in the new place will be a challenge. Probably lots of thick rugs etc will be needed. Once I get setup I will have the Maryland crew over if they are willing........ LOL! Also the music I like or liked places a big part as well. ROCK and ROLL!!!!! Oh its clear!!!!! Jam'in to some Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind. I here Bruce Dickerson in my face with "the band" in there somewhere. I will play some Nora Jones later and see how that is.
  14. Well you guys have given me something to think about. BTW right now I am using a Rotel RCC-1055. Works good. What I am hoping is that a newer player will add into the performence of my new gear. Rob
  15. yes..if you are using your MC-252. Remove the bi-wire jumpers. Put the LF section on your 4 ohm taps. Put the HF section on the 2 ohm taps. Result will be a HF section that will be -3db from where it is now. I am sure that room acoustics are playing a role. I am in an apartment right now waiting for my House to be completed. I am mainly listening to rock. I have also found myself listening to more laid back music as well. Colterphoto1 what do you think of speakerfritz recommendations? I cranked it up today shooting past 2/3 on the old volume knob. I get the mid kick just over the 1/3 mark but it doesn't get worse when pushing the LSII's. They just envolpe my hole place. My neighbors must be hating me by now. HA! HA!
  16. Any way to tone it down a little? These things are killer efficient!!!!!!!!!!!! How do I take the speaker grill off? Without breaking it funny guys!!!!! Thxs
  17. Need a new CD Player to go with my new system components? Was looking at the mac MCD201 but it is a CD/SACD player. I have one SACD and 2 DVD-A. So what would be a good player below $3K? Not that I want to pay $3K. THXS
  18. After installing my new Mac gear I had some unexpected hum. It seems that several of my Audioquest Copperhead interconnect grounds had been lifted. I am sick of these things. So I ordered some Bluejean cables on Saturday. They were delivered today. Not bad if I say so myself. BTW - I didn't notice any differences in sound with these cables. Except maybe that the hum was gone. Also using there RF islolater for cable tv hum. It eliminates that hum with no problem but some of my higher digital cable channels are a little noisy. Could be the weather. Bottomline.......Thumbs up to Bluejean cables.
  19. I am still drooling. I remember reading that when changing components in a system that speakers give you 80% so I went from RF-7's to LSII's, Big change! Replaced my Rotel RMB-1095 with the MC252 ~ 8% change. Went from a Rotel RSP-1066 to the C2200 ~30%........Bottomline my system is ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Bill are you still using the stock tubes? In my quest for my perfection I am trying to get educated on what tubes would be good for the C2200. Thanks, Rob
  21. The soundstage over my surround processor is amazing. Even at low volume levels the LSII's have a very nice low end. That means Bass. When I turn the volume up about 1/3 the sound is wonderful accross the spectrum highs, mids, and lows are all present. Again OMG!!!!!!
  22. Picked up my McIntosh C2200 to go with my MC252. All I can say right now is OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a difference over my old stuff. 23. Oh, just tease us some colter. How about Klipsch is introducing a Heritage Center Channel specifically for the Khorns and LaScalas! [:#]
