  1. Ken, Spoil him naaahhhh. Spoil myself and give him my handmedowns, oh yeah.
  2. I agree!!!!! Running a pair of RF7s off the Pioneer 49txi they seemed week on the low end at best. Connection the RF7s to a Parasound Halo A23, well now we are talking air moving around. If Pioneer was to come out with a controller with all the features of the 49txi/59txi it would be in my HT. The Pioneer is good but the parasounds make the RF7s GREAT!!!!!!
  3. ---------------- This does component and TOSLink! http://www.zektor.com/hds42/index.htm Plus it works with universal remote. They have a cheaper model with single outputs. ---------------- http://www.zektor.com/hds4/index.htm This unit is awesome. Not only does it handle the component swithing but it converts SPDIF inputs to TOslink out. Great little unit. IMO it is worth the money.
  4. Jerry Some very good posts on VOOM on the Hometheaterspot.com in the HDTV forum
  5. If you run surrounds there are a number of us m00n, Damonpayne, and myself selling rs7s for very good prices. I am not posting a price til m00n sells his. Scott
  6. Thank you sir. The reason I ask I found a pair for $600 and was thinking about taking a look at them? This is with the assumption that is a good price.
  7. What do these speakers look like?
  8. Ken My son has his own HT with a 32 sony vega XBR, XBox and a Dell XPS. If I get my way in the room configurations his new HT will get my 42" plasma making room for a 50 inch for mine. He keeps asking when his SvS is going to be ordered.
  9. I heard this velodyne at tweeter the other day and it seemed kinda boomy but I am sure it wasn't well calibrated. http://www.velodyne.com/velodyne/products/product.aspx?ID=7 http://www.velodyne.com/velodyne/products/specs/SPL_Series_II.html 8" forward firing (6.5" piston diameter) Kevlar reinforced Resin Cone 2-1/2" dual-layer voice coil, inner/outer wound, die-cast aluminum basket 40Hz-120Hz * or bypass for Subwoofer Direct 10.75" x 10.375" x 13" (27 x 26 x 33 cm)
  10. I believer the formula is but not sure of the values so I plugged in random numbers Rear Surround Left = 80% of left surround + 20% of right surround Rear Surround Right = 80% of Right surround + 20% of left surround Where I read this, I can not recall.
  11. This was one of the receiver that I almost bought. Across the 3 forums I frequent owners and potential owners always talked as if it was the very best receiver around. I have heard nothing but good of the 7200. My first surround receiver was the Onkyo DS797. I thought it was the worst sounding box since my boom box in high school. The person I sold it to loved the sound. So I try not to discount anyones opinion, as long as its the same as mine.

  13. 007 what sub are you currently using?
  14. ---------------- On 4/8/2004 8:41:00 AM JoeCool wrote: I would second that view on the sub - Klipsch subs are not all that great, there are much better subs out there in similar price ranges. ---------------- Oh some of the responses could get ugly. I have not heard too many going from an SvS to Klispch sub but there have been a number going from Klipsch subs to SvS. Regarding Surrounds I would recommend looking at the RS7s. Currently m00n is selling a pair or two at a great price. Scott
  15. Most of the SVS "groupies" that read the reviews agree both subs are well worth the money. Many also acknowledge that to single out one as the winner is a mute point since they are both produced superb results. Ed and Craig, who did the 2 shoot outs, went way beyond what the average listener would go through for set up and obtaining results. There is an interesting thread over on the SPoT where someone asked which SvS was a good bedroom sub. The "groupies" overwhelmingly recommended the HSU subs. The 2 companies produce great products that comparing for the "average" end user is a matter of splitting hairs. As I said in one of the thread, HSU would be in my house if there was a special need. But with SvS being manufactured in the USA I would be willing to sacrifice a little to keep an fellow American employed. I don't think there is anything sacrificed going with either sub.
  16. Well, several recommendations, I have read across various forums, a good bedroom sub would be the HSU VTF or STF versions. Size and price the HSU is the winner here.
  17. Running xbox thru s-video you loose the 16x9 widescreen HD for games. Not an option here especially with the plasma.
  18. Well, having numerous SVs subs one of the characteristics I never found was "boominess" The PB2+ impressed me handling both the music and movie taskings. The new owner of my PB2+ is very impressed with them especially for music.
  19. Just ordered one, and it should be here tomorrow.......... Yeeeeeaaaaa no more unplugging and plugging component video
  20. Well Agent 99 was a cute female agent for Control in the great show Get Smart
  21. well, for the dvd and xbox I would pop down to the local best buy or EBgames or gamestop and pick up a console switchers. I believe they run around $30 more than free. completely manual and will not support anything over 480 which is perfrect for dvd and xbox. dell uausally runs some specials which can be found http://www.hometheaterforum.com/deals/deals.php
