  1. I got a pair of RF-5s yesterday for $870. Hell of a deal. I love em.
  2. Ummm, yeah thanks for the um errr clarification. And i'll think about watching that show. Umm I would upgrade more, but im poor! Enjoying RF-5s though.
  3. Well, i picked them up today. Sound great. Much cleaner treble and better soundstage. THe bass is a little weak now, but they need breaking in. I am very happy. YOu kinda lost me there lynnm. Time to upgrade avatar.
  4. Thx guyz. Good luck on your comp trevor. I cant wait to go get em tomorrow.
  5. Before you gag and die, it was a trade in. Tommorow im trading in my RF-3s for RF-5s, and I already paid all $74 for them. They are a pair of maple floor model RF-5s. Excellent condition, sound great. I was planning on upgrading to RF-5s in about a year for $1500. That would be $700 more, i paid $70 more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO i have to say goodbye to my RF-3s. I just took them up to 25 watts!!! my ears are still ringing. BUt yes my RF-5s are going to own. And yes Trevor I know your jealous. Oh yeah, and the Tweeter bloke told me that they will begin carrying Martin Logan and that Klispch will stop making Reference for a while and focus on Synergy for Best Buy. Sucks.
  6. Well, man like you said building your own would rock. But oh well. Tell your dad you built a tube amp it it works great. Tube amps are harder to build than comps. But if hes dead againts i guess youll have to buy a premade. I was never really fond of dell, gateway, HP and what not. I hate Compaq. But whatever works for ya. As far as the power $1700 will get ya these days.. I like Athlon, but Pentiums nice. Around 2.5 Gigahertz sounds good. ATI radeon 9700 does rock, ive got the 8500, its very spiffy. As far as ram, for that price I would really go for 512 mb of DDR. Sound card, Audigy Pltinum is nice. maybe even the EX. Mother board, I have an Abit, works great. Theres planty of good Bother boards out there. Flat Panel monitors are nice, but I really dont think they are worth the extra $$$$$. For the price of a flatpanel, you could buy a hell of a CRT. Like a viewsonic 19" or even 21". NOw thats a monitor. Oh yeah, and the radeon 9700 supports dual monitors, Which rock. I love my dual monitors. YOu should really look into it. Or if you wanted to go Matrox Parhelia, or maybe a preofessional card, you could go 3 monitors I know thats probably not worth it to you, but I would look into it. Dual monitors are really cool for playin around on Acid and what not too. God this is a long post. Hopefully we can talk online soon. Good luck with the comp.
  7. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....clearance......................ugh...BestBut...................Donuts
  8. Thx for advice. Ill have to get over to Tweeter. And hey, even if it dosn't work out and still will be very happy with RF-3s,.
  9. Well, this Christmas i bought a pair of RF-3s. God I love em. I was planning on upgrading to RF-5s in about a year (using Tweeters one year trade in policy). But now as I understand Tweeter clearing out all Klipsch. I saw my beloved RF-3s go down $150 this week. That really dosen't really concern me, but the trade in thing does. If they are clearing out all models, maybe I should consider upgrading to RF-5s earlier. Stupid Tweeter had to go and mess up my plan. Then again if I wasnt paying attention I would still be very happy with my RF-3s(not that im not). God im skatter-brained. Thanks for any commentary/advice you can provide.
  10. Glad we could make you happy. And floorstanding surrounds do own. I've abondoned Home theatre for now, but the next time I do purchase a Home theatre i'll deffinatly go floorstanders all the way around. Im happy with my system now though. Just cant decide what i should buy next. Amp, upgrade speaks, or subby. We'll see. Enjoy your system.
  11. Maybe its time to trade in my RF-3s for some RF-5s. Before tweeter stops carrying them. SO Tweeter is going to completly stop carrying all Klipch products????? I was under the impression that they would keep the reference and the synergy were going to best-Buy.
  12. hmmmmmmmmm, useless facts. And thanks for proving that Klipsch does own.
  13. That would have to be "help im being repressed!" -Monty Python and teh Quest for the Holy Grail
  14. I used pine for mine. Stained em in a nice cherry. quite spiffy.
  15. Good god trevor. Stupid salesmen. I got to cash your check your check. Probably tommorow. Talk later.
  16. Very nice. Looks very professional. HOpe ya get a good grade.
  17. Man Porsche 911. Maybe im being shallow, but god it looks good. good lord its georgous. If I ever had 50 grand to spend on a car, that would be the ticket man.
  18. I know the feeling of ranting and raving for weeks, changing your mind every day or so, always having a new master plan. But common, just last week your praising your RF-5s, and now Fred is a retard becuase his product line will be carried at Best Buy??? Hell, I don't like best buy either, just the other day a best buy employee tried to convince me there was no such thing as Need For Speed 4 (cough dumass cough). And yes I do consider it a little sacreligous for Klipsch to appear on a best buy showroom, but who cares? Klipsch still makes the same speakers, which I think are wonderful. Hope we can talk online soon. And please dont take offense to this post, I just really disagree with you here.
  19. Heres the thing man, If you cant tell a difference, Who Cares?? I mean it really all is about your ears. I find toeing in my Rf-3s brings out the treble, but thats just a personal opinion. I end my commnent the way so many previous ones have, Let your ears decide. Oh yeah and enjoy!
  20. Man, old stuff rocks. Oldest and most beloved pieces of my system are my 1984 Yamaha M-4 and C-45. I love em. Especially the M-4. Built like a tank. lol.
  21. My hoover could take your Oreck anyday. Just like my pledge grab-its own you pos swifer ones. Just like my speakers own......aw crap. Damn you and your RF-5s. Enjoy them.
  22. oh yeah and if you are interested in learing more about this stuff I highly recommend Robert harley's "THe Complete Guide to HIgh End Audio" Great book
  23. I guess you could buy a DVD drive for your comp. Of course If you could it would be preferable to ditch the comp part of your HT and go all components. I used to have my comp as part of my system but kept gettin Ac line hum and all this other shiznip. So now my comp and music system operate in entirely different, yet happier worlds.
  24. monitors. LOL. Umm, yeah exactly the same w/ my rf-3s. I wish.
