  1. My horns live in Eleele on the West Side overlooking the Hanapepe River Valley. Interesting that there's more of Da Kine here thank I thought. Also have a friend that runs LS and plays only Vinyl living in Kapaa.
  2. Looking for others experience in matching a DAC to a system built around any of the heritage models.
  3. Can anyone share experience with adding a DAC to a heritage system. Primary use will be with a P/C based server. Looking for the best compliment to the heritage sound. Mike
  4. My RPW10 sub in my cinema 10 system stopped. Out of warranty so I called Klipsch to get a new one. Russ in parts asked a few questions and sent a replacement free of charge. I installed today - bass is back. Thanks Russ and Klipsch for world class customer service.
  5. Take a look at www.markertek.com. Great stuff at the right price - super service and lifetime warranty. If it's good enough for the pros......
  6. I've owned a pair of Gary's "Belle's" for three years and they sound as good as they look. They are very well made - all the wood grain is matched and the sound is excellent. I have them stacked on top of a pair of VMPS larger subs (don't know how to attach pictures) and am very satisfied with their performance. As a bonus Gary is a true gentlemen and the price is right.
  7. I have had great luck with any of the products from Markertek (Markertek.com). Pro quality at very reasonable prices - and a lifetime warranty. Get the catalog - it's a wealth of stuff.
  8. Coytee, If you expect to be in the neighborhood - the west side of Kauai - email - I'd love the company - anybody that comes this far should get a chance to critique Gary's creations. Mike
  9. I purchased the pair of "Belles" that appear in the Shinall website 2 years ago. Total cost delivered to Kauai, Hawaii was about $3600. I have them stacked atop a pair of VMPS larger subs. I am currently driving them with an NAD 218THX amp - the subs are on a pair of Adcom 555's in mono through an Ashley crossover. All driven by a Morrison preamp. The sound is nothing less than is the most lifelike I've heard outside of being there. I purchsed my first pair of LaScalas in the mid 70's, then moved on to Belles. My brother has Khorns so my frame of reference is wide. Gary Shinall is a class guy who produces a product of high value on a well established design. They sound as good as they look. I have previously posted pictures.
  10. I've owned a pair of Gary's Belles for about a year - they are superb. I have them mated to a pair of VMPS larger subs and could not be more pleased. The woodworking is first class - the grain is matched. You will nhever see a better buy. We had them shipped from Texas to Hawaii and they arrived in perfect condition. The shipping weight was about 600lbs.
  11. Does anyone have experience using their PC as a music source - in place of a CD player? Is it possible to do and at what cost? Happy Holidays to all
  12. Sorry about the photo size - have to figure out the protocol
  13. Daddy Dee, I have the Shinalls stacked on top of a pair of VMPS larger subs - I will attempt to attach a photo. Thanks Mike
  14. DrWho, I have a pair of Shinall BFS-2 cabinets - clones of Belles. Currently driving them with NAD 218. Looking at future upgrade.
  15. Wish4NSX, I have had a pair of 555's in mono since the mid 1980's (bought them new in 1986 - I think). I am currently using them to drive a pair of VMPS larger subs. The subs are 4 ohm and the Adcoms have no trouble driving them to very high levels without any strain. I've not used them on horn cabinets but they should be aqble to drive 7's. Mike
  16. Does anyone have experience with Crown K1 or K2 amps and Heritage? Thanks
  17. THX Where in the Islands are you? We are on the West side of Kauai. Mike P
  18. Dougy, The bass is solved. The sound is seamless between the horns and the subs. The Ashley crossover is very easy to set up and offers unlimited control. I was able to use my old Adcom 555's to good use. They run effortlessly. I followed the forum for years before going back into horns. Life is good. Mike
  19. John, I have to thank you for the good advice. I was going to order new LaScalas when I saw and heard my freinds Shinalls. I was sold. This quest started 40 years ago - a pir of LaScalas in a loft in Brooklyn, Innovative Audio, driven by a pair of Levinson 25w mono amps, a Levinson preamp fed by a Revox A77(?). I bought them, then Belles, then other stuff - space problems. My brother in Massachusettes has corner horns. Finally a house we designed with the primary goal of a big room for big horns. A friend on island, the local sound guy, said stackem. He was right. It's too good - the imaging and impact. Gary Shinall is a class act - great woodworker. If you are going to be in the Islands come to Kauai. Mike
  20. Thanks for the comments - the best part is the sound the sytems produces. I've attached another picture for perspective. We live on the rim of the Hanapepe river valley - nothing but open space. Plenty of room for horns to be themselves.
  21. I have attached a photo of my Shinall BFS-2 on top of a VMPS larger sub. After my closest friend made a mainland (from Hawaii - home) trip and at my urging stopped at Gary Shinall's workshop - and purchased his own pair, I follwed. Thanks to John Albright I added a pair of VMPS larger subs, and an Ashley crossover; fired up my three amps (NAD 2118THX and a pair of Adcom 555 in mono for the subs) - and produced the best sound I have ever heard outside of live. We have a large room 22w x 36d x 9-15h and no close neighbors. The Shinalls are professional quality - woodwork is furniture grade - the drivers are all out of the pro catalog - Selenium tweeter, P-Systems mid and Pyle Prof woofer. You all know what a fine horn system sounds like - I have finally reached that level. The VMPS subs are a perfect match - I set the crossover at 70hz - the bass is there. I will provide pictures if requested - Email if you would like to listen - Kauai, Hawaii - 96705 -
  22. I have been trying to get a copy of the spec sheet re room size, placement, and false corners. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  23. Once had a tech paper from Klipsch describing construction of false corners. Anyone familiar with size of corner necessary for Khorns?
