Two of these cards should run a paltry $1000 and the MOBO around 350-$500 depending on integrated options(SCSI,1394,Gigabit la,WIFI). Who said PC's are getting cheaper, only junk is getting cheaper. ---------------- I dunno, there is a few Futuremark members that would give ya good smack around, course they are the hardcore of PC enthusists. Couple of guys have passed the 17,000 mark in 03, including the ever so legendary Macci.

Klipschorns would scare you. ---------------- Accually the Pioneer CS-R700's have a 102db sensitivty. It was featured in a 1973 Issue of High Fidelity and Team Electronics Magazines. They were known for their clean, accurate, powerful sound throughout their entire frequency range. As well as being incrediably dynamic. Maybe not quite equal in fame to the HPM-100, but close. The round horn tweeter and esp. the big square horn mid-range make them unique among speakers of the period. These are tough to find and very collectible, and originally sold for $229.95 each. They are far more efficient than Acoustic suspension units from the period, but as ported boxes go, very smooth. Given their design, there would be interest as well in them among the horn speaker fans. They are among the rarest horn speakers today, which is exactly why I'm keeping mine. Ask anybody that truly lived in the 60-80's era of audio, and mention the R700's...they will tell you. You could prob. find some info on it at Audiokarma.org or Vintage Asylum

  4. I say get the Signature, you'll **** your pants once you see that little 13" subwoofer belting out the numbers it does. I know I did, which is why I have one in my living room lol.
  5. Accually two subwoofers (Givin they are the same) accually give you much better placement options, the other usually opted for the rears.
  6. ITs funny, because Nvidia is scared, and they have a history of pooring out these BS slideshows, they have done it in the past. ATI is a smarter company then, and anybody who deems otherwise is blind. While Nvidia showcases all this technology, they are still slower in games then ATI's offering. Even still, Nvidias technology is far from being in games. The Unreal 3 technology wo't be arriving until 2006 possibly. ATI focuses on today, and show good cause too, and as games advance, so too will ATI. Meanwhile Nvidia has their head up there *** and trys to but fails to manipulate the part of the market, that ATI took from them. With Technology that is far from being used, creating a more completeicated chip that requires more energy meaning FAR more heat. Face it, like the Athlon over the P4, ATI's cards are just plain and simple more efficent. I also love how the drivers come into play when its a known fact that ATI's drivers have FAR improved since the Radeon 8500, while Nvidia has accually gotten slightly worse since the Geforce 3/4 days.
  7. But then I don't know if they would truly help me, or kinda be offended by trying to change their products, but telling me nothing will work. Course Klipsch isn't known to do such a thing. But I'll try sometime soon, thanks! Like I said, this isn't a must need, its just a fun project to do.
  8. There is a good point made, but then again the Ultra s a complete different design then the 4.1 subwoofer. And if you can find a woofer with similar specs, but say more excursion, etc...I think it would work. Thanks for the tip though, i'll look into it more.
  9. Why don't you get down a and start OCing that Athlon64?? Clock for clock its FPU and APU is FAR more effective/efficent.
  10. How is this driver look, two of these would be real nice to replace the OEM 6.5's?? http://www.visaton.com/cgi/VisatonFramed.asp?Artikel_ID=457&Sprache=english
  11. Nah, he put it on the piston area as well...err I think....i'll wait for this then to be on the safe side. Also does anybody know the specs on the 6.5" drivers of these woofers? Like example wattage, xmax, fs, etc? If not, what do you think xmax is one way or peak to peak? Edit: I believe if I'm correct the fs for the woofers on the 4.1 is around 53hz, as thats the response for the woofers, and then from here on the port takes over.
  12. I have my poor promedia 4.1 sub gutted, both drivers are out and the amp is sitting "pretty", away from all electrical items/current. And of course then you just have the box and port. First thing is first, like my HT stuff, I was going to put mink oil over the front and back of the woofers. Whether it does really anything or not is questionable....but it doesn't hurt. I just got really bored this afternoon, took it apart and started thinking of ways to improve it, maybe even build it a slightly bigger box with a slightly bigger port. (although I'm not exactly sure you can build a proper port or have it made for ya.) Anyhoo I thought this would be fun if possible, feel free to pitch any ideas.
  13. Couple of Alpine Type R or better yet some JLW7's. I would love to have the JL, but the Alpine is about as clean as it gets with a lot of slam and pretty damn good depth.
  14. Well I don't have any Klipsch HT products as of this moment. But I have a pair of 1972 Pioneer CS-R700's which can be compared to the Klipsch Herrtiage series, they drop down to around 30hz. I have a Sunfire Signature to match them with a crossover point of 35hz, and it blends damn well. Although im gonna experiment with a crossover of 40hz, take a little more off the Pioneers.
  15. Ditto to what he said, except I think he ment he rw-12.

  18. Look what I read today, this had me rolling... ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ Reviewed by: Shane, Audio Enthusiast Price Paid: $1300 at Fort Wayne, IN Product Model Year: 2003 Summary: I currently have a Klipsch KSW 12 and am fairly happy with it. It sounds great with my Bose 701 Series 2 front speakers. I like "lots" of bass so I thought I would try what most of the salesman at the local audio stores recommended. They said the RSW 15 would "blow" the KSW 12 away, so I bought one. I was "very" disappointed! It is not a musical sub at all. I never could get it to blend with my main speakers, no matter what settings or levels I tried. Even with the sub volume and receiver sub level turned down, the RSW 15 still drawed attention to itself quite a bit. A sub should blend in with your main speakers so you don't really know where the bass is coming from. I "always" could tell where the sub was at. It "did" have the ability to pound and vibrate things a little more than than KSW 12 but at a not so impressive sound quality. It actually took away alot of quality sound from my other speakers. For home theater, it performed better because its weaknesses weren't so noticable. It "will" rattle everything in your house if asked to do so. It has a little deeper and boomier bass than the KSW 12 but didn't sound as good for music or home theater. If both of these subs cost the same, I would honestly pick the KSW 12 over the RSW 15. If you are looking to buy a Klipsch sub, try this. Make the salesman put a KSW next to a RSW sub in the same corner of the room. You will probably notice that the KSW "holds it own" in a sound and bass comparison. The only people that will tell you otherwise is the sales people who more than likely work on commission! Listen to them at more than just one store if possible and make sure the subs you are comparing are set at near the same sub levels and settings on the back of the sub. The KSW subs are definitely under-rated!!!! I took the RSW 15 back within 5 days and got my money back. I am even more content with the KSW 12 now! Strengths: Will shake and rattle everything in the house! Looks nice Weaknesses: Very large, heavy, not musical, overpriced, over-rated. Similar Products Used: KSW 12 Also have listened to many other subs at audio stores.
  19. I agree, you should be able to find the RSW-12 within that price. Its a good sub with low distortion, spine-tingling slam (A trademark of RSW subs lol) and the ability to go low enough to watch some movies on.

Quite a lot more capable than the best Sunfire. I never broke any enclosure with it yet when it was pushed to its limit if this can make you more confident! This is truely a myth! Ive never heard of another Tumult user broking his enclosure while the sub is playing at a loud volume. ---------------- That is unless Bob Carver decided to design a 15" woofer, I don't think the Tumult would reign anymore Too bad this prob. won't be a reality.
  21. Here is a quote from Tom V. in the Home Theater Forums: The B4+ is more suited to maximizing in room performance from about 18-20hz and up. It certainly wouldn't be considered "weak" <20hz...but the Everest definitely will have the potential to be the stronger unit in say...the 10-20hz octave.
  22. Yeah I hear ya, if ya find one though..that be awesome. The are great subs for the money.
  23. I know, but then ya factor in the 4 18" PR's in the big Enclosure, and it might get close lol. Who knows though...
  24. I dunno, I've seen it at Circuit City for $400, but I dunno if its still around.
  25. The Everest with its dual 15" Tumult drivers, and 4 18" PR's could...I think lol?
