  1. Thanks Michael it was my pleasure, really it was i got to listen to the Lascalas in my own home in no rush. How often do you get a chance to listen to the great Heritage sound in your own home or even in a showroom, they can't be found around here thats for sure. And yes you did send me on { the path of woe} but it's a good path looking for a better quality music. For me now i will take my time to decide what i really want,in the klipsch heritage lineup of course.Once you hear that sound their is no going back. My next few speaker choices will be my last,no more stops at halfway {I hope }. You never know i may have one setup for HT and one just for music, but i now know what direction to go. I am glad to have found this forum and Klipsch because about 30 years ago i built a diy set of speakers that sounded great and i diden't know what i liked about their sound. I did not put it together till i heard some Klipsch, the diy speakers i built had HORN midrange and HORN high freq, that was the sound i like. So after saying all of that, Michael you really did me a BIG favor, thank you.
  2. Just wanted to let you know those Synergy Sb3's are on their way they were picked up tonight. Sorry couldn't let the LSI's go. J U S T K I D D I N G................... I would not want to have you drive down here just to put your foot up my ... Really LSI on the way no joke.
  3. I just wanted to know how the midrange and high freq compare? Forte ll vs Cornwall I have Forte ll which could be used for rears. Colterphoto {thanks Michael} let me listen to his La scala's and i love the mid's and highs. I don't think i will go with Lascala's but maby Cornwall's or i may just stick with the forte ll.
  4. Very good advice from Indy and Drwho, I went ,going thru the same thing. About 2 years ago i went out and bought the 5 Synergy setup sb3,sc1,ss1,and a diy sub and i have to say it sounds very good for movies and music. So 2 years later i am trying to decide on what speaker to upgrade to,mostly for music and when i do those 5 Synergy will not match anything i will get. It was not a total waste of money ,i can use them in another room or they can go to a family member but they will not match in any way with any others i will get ,so it's like starting over. At least one very good thing came out of those Synergy speakers I found Klipsch and i am at least heading in the right direction!
  5. I thought it was just me,I tried a few other forums it just wasen't the same.
  6. Baton Rouge never seen much from the storm we live 1.5 hours east and the most they got was some rain. I picked up some Lascalas for Colterphoto in Laplace a couple of weeks ago and it looked like there was no flooding there and that is just outside New Orleans to the west. But you are correct payment upon pickup would be best . My luck the owner lives in the lowest part of town and was the only one with water.
  7. Happy thanksgiving , I wish that snow was headed here. like Dizrotus said: However you celebrate the day; whatever your philosophical or political leanings, please take time to express gratitude for all that you have, especially family and friends. Remember, if all your problems could be solved by money, then you have no real problems, be grateful for that.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
  8. Michael i went and gassed up the truck and the wife is rearranging the living room as i type this. Let me know if I can assist with the pick up of these monsters. The only catch is wife says they have to stay here at least a week. You know so we can make sure they are warmed up before you get them. I mean you wouldn't want to be disappointed.
  9. It's not mine just see it on ebay this am, 1953 klipschorn b i n $700. 10. Michael i seen them they are about 380 miles from me not to bad compared to where i have been looking. To be honest i am haveing a hard time makeing up my my mind about a 6 forte ll setup or mix cw fronts and a different center and rears,I have room for a forte ll center and rears but not cw's. My brain says stick with forte ll all around but my ears think something different.
  11. What Michael Hurd said is true but past that we have dish and the picture is better than cable. At the moment we have both cable { charter } and dish ,the tv is a Toshiba 65" hd. With the Toshiba they are many inputs on the rear of the tv, so i have the cable in one of the inputs and dish in another, this let's me put both on the same channel and switch back and forth with just one button. i have done this a few times to compare the picture and it is never even close, satellite is always better by far no question. As far as hd goes dish has more channels than direct or cable but your locals don't come in hd. they have 15 hd channels some suck but it is still more than you can get anywhere else. For hd you pay $100. more at install for a second dish for some of the old Voom channels and it is about $10. more a month,But the hd is as good as it gets for now a least. The one thing you have to do for the hd is after the installer leaves is set the menu to whatever your tv can handle,540i,p or 1080i. When he installed it he left in on the defalt setting. I diden't notice for two days when i was playing with it and i could not change it to 1080i till i figured out you change it in the dish box on the menu then you must unplug the sat box and replug it in and it then downloads the new settings and the it sends the new setting to the tv. It made a big difference and it is not just for hd you must set it for the best picture your tv can handle. Sorry for the long post but we just went through this a month ago and you can't seem to get all the answers from any one source, hope it helps.
  12. ebay very nice shape bin $2000 Don't know the seller just seems like a good deal
  13. I thought the movies were in DD,but 9 out of 10 in stereo. Almost all the hd channels are 5.1 do i have something set wrong. I think it is setup correct, I just thought they would be 5.1 , I had rented some of these so i know they were 5.1 on the dvd.
  14. Happy Birthday Michael. As you know we have two big birthday presents here for you. We will enjoy them ourselves as we celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary on Friday, November 11th. Not much of a birthday present for you since you paid for them, but we sure will enjoy them. At least they have Klipsch written on them. Happy Birthday and many more.
  15. Just wanted to see how you were doing over their on the coast, anything back to normal yet.
  16. Thanks Cal Blacksmith it helps from someone who heard them part #'s only tell so much.
  17. Has anyone had the cornwalls and forte ll to compare.
  18. dtel

    faked out...

Yes all the time but like divin said when we have all the doors and windows open it happins alot more. Sometimes even just with music i get up and look out the door or windows. We don't watch many scary movies much but when the kids were in their early teens they would invite their friends over and they want to start out with all the lights out and an hour later all the lights are on. I also helped by sneaking around the outside of the house and scaring them.
  19. Why doncha copy this post and start a new thread in HT, we'll pitch in and help you with your planning. There is a problem with A/B comparisons when the speakers have more than 2 db efficiency between them. The louder one will almost always be favored. That's why I built a cable bundle for my Niles switchbox that has volume controls. You just plug in a bunch of Klipsch speakers (it works ONLY with Klipsch speakers), adjust the volumes using a db meter then you can compare the QUALITY of the sound of the speaker properly. The Cornwalls are a little more forward, I'd say kind of pinched a bit, where the LS are very open and airy. When you say LIVE sound, you're referring to that big horn. LS is basically a PA cabinet and sounds like one to my ears- but I find that pleasant as I did a lot of rock concerts in my youth. Remember it's the same components except for 400 vs 600 hz horn, really not that much is affected. I'd say my preference in the upper ranges depends almost entirely on the music being played. HT, they're pretty neck and neck. IndyKlipschFan has 7 LSI's in his HT with the THX subs. I slightly prefer the Cornwalls because I do lots of 2ch music listening and don't want the sub in for that. I think LS needs a big room to breath, when I play my stacks in the garage, it sounds best about 40 feet away. But it does sound like real live music. I've had Keith Emerson playing piano in my garage more than once! LOL Is there someone out there who's compared CW and ForteII? I've heard the CW and Chorus together and would pronounce them very similar. ForteII is basically Chorus' lil bro. The $$ are about the same, F is smaller, having not heard the ForteII, I can't say. Michael Dtel here, Trying to make up my mind ,keep the two forte ll's as mains and build from their ,or switch to la scala's or corns or something. It must be heritage though, love that big horn sound !!! Michael let me listen to his La Scala's at my house and i liked the sound of the midrange and high's better than my Forte ll's, they sounded more open, clear and more like a live concert . I was planing, and may still just go with all forte ll's. Like michael said it's hard to compare for me because the La Scala's is more efficient and is louder with a a/b switch. Just trying to decide because michael said he will help me look for what i need and that may be a big help for both of us on driving time. I knew i would be driving somewhere because it's rare to find any Klipsch local. Even though i won't be happy, i do need to give this man back his La Scalas.
  20. Michael two pair of the La Scala stacked would sound HUGE,I have to thank you for giving me the chance to hear one pair. If you don't mind I have a couple questions I use a sub so I have some control with helping the bass, so I am not concerned about the low end. When switching from your La Scalas to the Forte ll ,the La Scalas have a much larger, cleaner and overall more live sound in the mid and highs to me and everyone here. I still love the sound of the Fortes but how do the Cornwalls sound in the mid and highs compared to the LaScalas. I am trying to build a 5.1 or 6.1 setup for movies and music mostly music and i also like to switch to just 2 ch. For the back left ,center and right they would have to get mounted up on a large beam,3 fortes or heresy would fit but La Scalas would not And i still have not even got past the mains yet, i thought i did with the forte ll but i like mid and top end sound of the La scala better. I started with synergy ,so i know what kind of sound i like now and don't want to waste money in the wrong direction and having someone like you and Dr Who comparing most all heritage helps. After reading all the threads in the past from many people i want to try and and do it right this time. If 5 or 6 forte lls is the answer for me that will work just fine, but the mid and highs of your La Scalas sound darn good. Thanks again
  21. This is Mrs. dtel again: One more thing, Michael Colter is personally responsible for our indecision regarding our recent purchase of Forte II's and our plan to have five Forte II's for our home theatre. I did inform Mr. dtel that it would be in his best interest to not pick up any Klipchhorns for anyone, because I am sure if I heard those I would give the WAF right away. Really Michael, thank you for allowing us the privilege of having these in our home. It is the first time we have ever listened to any Heritage speakers and there is no where in our area to listen to them. We had planned to attend the Hope gathering but Katrina kind of spoiled those plans.
  22. This is Mrs. dtel. We didn't want to say anything until Michael told everyone. I have to say they do sound really good, although I am not the least unhappy with the Forte II's that we just purchased about 3 months ago. After previewing the Lascalas with our favorite concert dvd's there is a marked difference in sound. Most of the damage from Katrina occured about thirty miles from our home. We are located about 45 miles north of New Orleans and about 35 miles northwest of Gulfport/Biloxi area. There was a lot of damage in our area, but we recovered within a month. By the way Michael hurricane season is over and we don't flood here, so your speakers are safe and sound. Feel free to take as much time as you need to pick them up. LOL
  23. Michael i will be back home after work today, did you get my email. I will try to get with you this evening.
  24. To tell the truth i was thinking of you when i posted this,i just coulden't imagine where you could fit them.
