  1. Hey Deano, Thanks for your post. Yep, making use of my resources is what I'm all about here. Also, I'm glad to know where this SET lunacy started anyway and the significance of the iron in the end result. Your thought on engaging the seller is right, and I should said something about that in my posts. He has certainly been responsive on e-mail. He thinks these would fall somewhere between Wrights and Moondogs in quality and sound. And he is agreeable to the seller's return for refund, less shipping. He's selling because he wants to buy another prototype from the same designer. One thing I hadn't mentioned in my posts, and probably should have, is that I'd requested that the seller fax the schematic. He says it will be included with the amps. He said he'd be happy to do it, but hasn't yet followed through or responded again. He may be busy with work or who knows what, but I'd certainly be interested to check in with him again to see if he'll follow through. Thanks for the heads up on the Quicksilver units on Audiogon and Mike Sanders. I'll give him a call. Listens to Klipschorns, eh? I'll let you know how things develop. Best regards, Dee
  2. C-T, Thanks. I've decided to take a pass on these 2A3's This has been good advice. Dee
  3. Justin, Clueless has given you good advice. Get to the doctor. Procrastination can sometimes mean the difference between satisfactory recovery and well, you don't want those heresy's to go to waste do you? Regards, Dee p.s. you are worth a trip to the doctor even if it turns out to be insignificant in hindsite.

  5. Tom, Yep, thanks for the post. So far that has been my criteria in checking out different topologies. The ability to get in and out and break even. That's a little easier to nail with more common types. I don't really have a clue as to the market value of this amp would be. If it was Bottlehead, Wright, Welborne or Cary, it's easy enough to see what they are moving for in the used market. After listening to the Paramours, I pretty sure that 2A3 works for me in a good way for way more than 90% of my listening. So if there is a genuine steal to run across something that floats my boat, I'd want to consider it. That's part of the ? about this amp. Who knows? Regards, p.s. So what are you listening to with KT88's? I enjoyed them in the Rocket 88. Pretty hard to beat them. Also, don't know if KT66's can be swapped out in every situation, but in the Cary they could and I thought they may have had a sweeter sound than the 88's. I've got a matched quad of Sovtek's if your interested. REALLY low hours.
  6. Hi Molecularman Welcome to the forum. I'd love to see your pics and it looks like one you tried to post didn't come through on the bbs. Sometimes works better just to attach a file, but over the last few days, the server or the software or something hasn't been running up to par. Wish I could be of some help on your question. I'm assuming that is your question after looking over the ALK stuff on alkeng.com. There is a huge base of knowledge among the forum members, and you should certainly be able to get some good help here. Best regards, Dee

  8. jpg attached-- bottom view of amp. What do you see in here?
  9. Gary, that's cool to be close by and thanks for the offer. I'll let you know. Craig and Mike. Good iron, huh? One thing I was wondering is what do you make of the 2.5 wpc? Usually 2A3's are rated at 3.5, but there is some other well known name I was looking at on the net some time ago that was also rated at 2.5.
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3034337121&category=39783 What do you think of these amps. The description is pretty good and there are some good pics of the underside. What do you see in there. What questions would you have for the seller? Appreciate any feedback. Dee o.k. 2A3 fans, how about some help here?
  11. Let me know your source for the monogramed pocket protectors. With a volume discount we might get PWK put on them and have some really nice gifts for sound geeks! Great discovery. Dee
  12. Great post. That's helpful info to have in looking to the future.

  14. Hi Craig, I'll let the new proud father make the announcement when FedEx makes the delivery from Arkansas to the West Coast! Dee
  15. SOLD! to a member of the forum. This fine example of audio technology will be packed with TLC and sent across the country to the delight of another Klipsch forum member. Glad it's going to a good home. Dee
  16. Here's a link to an interesting article by Joe Roberts. Talks about SET with interesting perspective acknowledging the tendency of some to ascribe metaphysical qualities to SET. http://www.atma-sphere.com/jroberts.pdf
  17. There used to be something similar to this in the AV dept of the church I grew up in.

  19. Welcome to the forum. -------------------- So, Audio Reality, what happened to the parts?
  20. Yep, Saw one sell there for $1350 last week. I could make a buck or two, but am just wanting to get my $ back out of it. Dee
  21. Friends, Wanted to let the forum know that I'm selling my Cary Rocket 88 power amplifier. It is fairly described as mint condition, and probably lower hours and cosmetics better than with dealer demos. I've just had the amp a few weeks for an Arkansas audition. I wouldn't say that I live in the sticks, but I can see it from here. Yes, actually cannot even get cable television at my residence so there sure as heck aren't places to audition much tube hifi gear. Even Custom Audio in Little Rock, where I bought my first Kenwood receiver and Advent speakers back when God was young, no longer even carries the Heritage line in Klipsch. Sad, sad, sad. Anyway, wanted to let y'all know that there ain't no flies on this amplifier. I've just been checking out different types of amps to see what I like best with my Scalas. I have come to deeply appreciate the 2A3 Paramours built by Tom L on this forum. And my 299b will be my old standby whenever the demands exceed the abilities of the flea powered monoblocks. I listened to the Rocket 88 a week before getting the Paramours and couldn't imagine any amp that would sound better. In Triode they are sweet and switched to pentode they rock. This amp is one heavy bullet proof rascal. 20 or 40 wpc, either way. My reason for selling is simply WAF. My wife and I have had a good time auditioning these amps, and that has been a special blessing in itself and I have to say it has tickled me for her to sit down and offer her comments and enjoy listening with me. She doesn't even want to sell it, but she's not tracking the bucks I've got in amp inventory right now either. She calls it the "city of lights" and was even a little sad that I thought it needed to go. Anyway, $1200 plus shipping would get it for a member of the forum. It's listed on Audiogon for $1250. Check out the Cary Audio site for specs and reviews. Email me with questions. Regards, Dee p.s. hope this is not a double post. I wrote this same post yesterday, but cannot find it on the forum today.
