  1. These really look like a pair of Eckhorns out of germany. See http://www.eckhorn.com/eckhorn.php See: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5702641727 "This unique pair of rare find high end speakers has been special order custom made by Klipschhorn®." I often wondered how they sounded. - Lee

  3. Hmmm... Why don't you go with a heritage 5.1 or 7.1. Use cornwalls or heresys as the rears/surrounds. Heresys don't take up much room. I have four rather large speakers (cornwalls and commercial cornwalls) and a heresy size center (klipsch kp 2000c)in a room about 12' x 14'. Of course, my wife (and everyone else) says I'm crazy for that and, of course, my coworkers think I am crazy for having a pair of cornwalls in my office. I would think you would be crazy to get rid of your current heritage set-up. But if you are getting rid of them cheaply, let me know :^) - Lee
  4. There is a way to get into tubes cheap. Go new. Try Antique Sound Lab stuff. http://www.divertech.com/antiquesl.html They had a great starter model mono block that you can still find around called the ASL wave-8. Has 8 watts per channel. Cost between $99.00 (no cover) to 115.00 (with cover). brand new, no need to restore it. You would need two for stereo of course. You could also go with one of their inexpensive tube pre-amps AQ2004 DT ($249.00). Of course you would need a phono-preamp. (like others suggested, there are a variety of places you can get that). So basically, for about $450.00 you can have new tube preamp and two newer monoblocks amps. Alternatively, you could try Antique Sound Lab's integrated stereo tube amp - MG SI 15 DT for $895.00 that is switchable between 5/15 watts per channel (Pentode/Triode). I went with two ASL wave 8s (2x$115.00) and a used Dynaco PAS2 tube preamp ($140)off ebay and am very happy with the results. - Lee
  5. There is a single heresy for sale on ebay (not mine). Anyone need a center channel? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5701183542
  6. This is a cross post from 2-channel. Does anyone have any experience with these subs? There is a set on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3723808319 I was thinking that they might be good for a HT setup? Thoughts? - Lee

  8. Thanks for your interest. I am planning on keeping them (and my Heresys) for my son (19 months old now) for when he goes to college. I am collecting NOS tubes for them as well. I understand that they are auto-biasing. - Lee
  9. I have two pairs of ASL AV8s, one set I kept NIB and put in my finished attic, the other set I use to drive a pair of cornwalls in my office at work. I really like and recommend them. I have not done any mods and probably won't for some time. They have a nice sound, do the job I require of them, the efficiency of the speakers make the 8 watts go a long way. - Lee
  10. I finally learn not to bid early and often but to patiently wait and snipe at the end, only to learn that there exists this other way to end-run the whole process. A total bummer.

  12. Thanks, the lack of bass should not be a problem as I plan on using them as L&R rear speakers with my Vertical Cornwalls as L&R front speakers and a KP-2000c as a center (which I understand uses tractix horns). If I understand you correctly, the 301's use Mid and high lenses the same version as Cornwall IIs vs. the 301-II-a which use Tractix lenses. I plan on getting a sub at some point soon to handle the low notes. I am a little concerned about using a center speaker with Tractix horns when the rest use "normal" heritage style horns, but, oddly enough, the professional KP2000-c and the 301's were actually cheaper and easier to buy on ebay than the regular Cornwalls and Heresys. I just purchased a Harmon Kardon avr 7200 to drive it all in a 15'x12' room. Both professional sets are now being shipped, the reciever is sitting in my office, and my vertical cornwalls are stored at a friends, now I just have to "surprise" my wife with her new mother's day "gifts".
  13. Hello, I plan on putting together a HT set-up with: fronts: Vertical Cornwalls (98.5 db) Center: KP 2000-c (97 db)(2 way - 12in woofer & Tractix Wave horn) rears Klipsch Model KP-301 Speakers (101 db)(3 way- a 15in woofer tractix mids and highs). Is mixing professional series and heritage going to sound strange? I have another set of Heresys IIs (2 channel home)and Cornwalls (2 channel work), should I combine them differently? Has anone else mixed Pofessional and Heritage series? Comments? - Lee - Lee
  14. Just won a set of Klipsch Model KP-301 Speakers on ebay for $500.00. With a 15in woofer, they look like they should go well with my Vertical Cornwalls. Has anyone listened to these before? What are your thoughts on them? How to they stack up against Cornwalls? Should they be used as front mains or rears? Thanks, - Lee
  15. I saw the cross reference website for bauplane to the Klipsch Eckhorn for plans above. Has anyone heard of the Eckhorn by the: Art Of Sound Company in Germany, I believe. Has anyone compared them to the klipschorns? http://www.eckhorn.com/eckhorn.php

  17. Is the K-77-M a drop in swap for K-76-K in a Heresy II? Does it sound better than the K-76-K? Is it a worthwhile mod?
  18. Cornwalls copies Price: $1,450.00 / Pair I wonder if they copied Cornwall I's or II's and if they are horizontal or vertical.
  19. Like PaulParrot said. It's not a loan. Don't think about giving it back to me. This is what makes the forum a special place.
  20. Siars, There is no need to go. As you said, you are new here. You hav obviously noticed, Klipsch has a fanatical, close-nit following. This forum is made up of diverse people from diverse backgrounds with a diverse sets of views on many things. They probably do interact a lot more than other forums and are always more than willing to help each other out, technically and personally. I really doubt you will find this sort of interaction on any other speaker forum anywhere. This is where the forum shines - it is not just all about appreciating technology, but about helping each other out. - Lee
