  1. @cjhaines1972 Read through this thread to get a sense of what you are facing: BAR 48 Surround volume at max but can barely hear them
  2. I’m part of the ‘me too’ movement....minimal volume out of the surround 3 speakers with my bar 48; all brand new. WTF? i want a fix or replacement
  3. This has been covered before. Please review the previous posts for more information. Summary: If the BAR 48 still does not work after you have followed the instructions provided by Klipsch and installed the latest firmware, then the hardware is defective (Best Buy also has plenty of old stock too). You will need to return it for a new one or refund. "Based on the past few months of data, most of the sub power-cycle problems appear to be hardware related (early production units, which now flood the market) so not "fixable" with just the firmware update. Replacement is the only solution. If you have not done so, return for a refund/exchange or try a warranty claim through Klipsch." (* or the seller you purchased it from).
  4. I just purchased the klipsch bar 48 from bestbuy the sub will not work the light stays blue tried to reconnect and pair the light on the back of the sub never flashes i tried the firmware upgrade that didn't work very frustrating has anyone had this issue and was there a fix for it just bought it todat
  5. V83.a FW update fixed my subwoofer connection issue as described by many of you above. I probably have a later SN, as I just bought this a couple weeks ago, but the sub was virtually unusable. Now, it reconnects every time I turn the TV on. I am using HDMI out from my TV to the Soundbar 48. Also, the instructions on their web page, as well as the BAR 48 FW Upgrade Video show the unzip and easy steps to complete it. Mine went exactly as described.
  6. KevinB, how can one find out if one's new BAR 48 has the latest firmware installed.
  7. Just received my Bar 48 soundbar with wireless sub and already updated the firmware, but when I installed to my TV the volume was in full and there's no way you can lower it down, all buttons are lit up not functioning as well as the remote control, the sub is functioning well. I really like this soundbar and does not want to return it, I just need help, I know there's a way to configure this problem.

    BAR 48

Understand, and, calling upon a bar 48 or other may be a bridge too far. Too many functions for what should be a simple operating system akin to the promedia products. Maybe too ambitious. Keeping it simple. thanks... @KevinB

    BAR 48

I have never even see the BAR 48 so no help from me. As far as I know I don't think Klipsch looks here much so I doubt you would get an answer, I could be wrong. Mostly people here try to help with what they know and like KJ said, not much experience with a soundbar here especially a new one, guessing it's a new product? I don't know
  10. I am not sure if it is a Bluetooth issue or not, but everytime my BAR 48 is restarted, like when we turn the TV on, the subwoofer loses connection. The only way I can get it to connect back is if I unplug the power from the sub and wait for the light to go off and then plug it back in to power the sub back up, and then it connects. I did the firmware update, but it still happens. Any ideas on next steps? Thanks, Patrick
  11. I just tried to connect again with the ARC and no luck. I also have optical hooked up, but still can't connect. No I am just using the Bar 48 Soundbar with the wireless sub
  12. I just purchased a Klipsch Bar 48 and am trying to hook it up to my Vizio M55-E0. I was successfully able to connect it to my iPhone 7+, but not to the TV. I am using DirecTV mini box to connect to the tv, which is working fine. I have tried to connect with both optical and HDMI, but nothing works. I am desperate for help!!!
  13. I have a 32 GB thumb drive that worked OK fully format. Read step 2 again on the Klipsch / firmware page: "2. Unzip the file folder and move the “app.bin” file to an empty USB flash drive that is formatted to FAT32 and is 8GB or less in size " The wording says *formatted* to 8GB or less. It does not say total capacity of 8 GB or less. BTW, I came up with some indirect ways of telling whether the update succeeded. When the firmware update finishes successfuly, the device reboots and three white volume LEDs are on on the front, above the colored source LED in front, so before the firmware update, I changed the volume to something else, such as 2 white volume LEDs. Also, I changed the subwoofer volume to drop below the default one white LED, and you can do the same for the Surround 3 speaker volume. Also, Bluetooth pairing is lost I believe (not sure as BT didn't worked on two of three BAR 48s I had). When the firmware update finishes, all these settings go back to default.
  14. I received another email on 2020-01-17 14:57: No real answers yet but I do appreciate the updates. These are the key points from this email. We are still working our way from the Christmas craze. We are not done working on the firmware for the Bar 48 so more adjustments are coming, I hope to provide you with more specific details as soon as I hear back from my team.
  15. My appologies if I read your comments and took them a different way. I received another email from Gentech today as I've let them know about all the problems and told them about all our comments on this forum how there are these issues....he said to me ' try doing to firmware update' . Well that is ridiculous since I told him I did all updates when I first set up the Bar 48. I don't even think they were reading my complaints....As DaleG said, Klipsch's employees and alternate warranty agencies have NO idea what is happening to these units. I hope a company with a reputation as high as one that Klipsch has, will solve these issues so they can be trusted again in the soundbar department. Wish I had a stand alone home so I could buy their floor standing speakers and their component speakers......those ones kick ***!
  16. I listen to stereo music (CDs, MP3s, streaming, cable TV music) a lot more than I watch 5.1 surround videos, and I watch normal cable TV channels which presumably are stereo. I fully expected the BAR 48 5.1, at the very least, to play stereo music on all of it's 5.1 speakers, given that competitive 5.1 brands offer this, as well as just about all low cost home receivers and low cost car stereos do exactly that. Klipsch Surround 3 speakers do not include this feature of immersive 5.1 sound for stereo sources like competitive brands do. Big disappointment to me.
  17. @CanadianAndy My comment was not meant to be sarcastic. My sentiment is genuine. The Klipsch BAR 48 definitely has its issues but I’m not prepared to say that it’s a failure. That will depend to what extent Klipsch is prepared to get these issues resolved.
  18. Why the sarcastic comment ? The Klipsch Bar 48 is a failure.
  19. @CanadianAndy Congratulations! I hope you are happier with the LG system. Should your new system not be all you expected, please update this thread so readers do not mistakenly believe that it is an ideal replacement for the BAR 48.
  20. This morning I received an email from Klipsch Product Support. There was not much progress to report as many Klipsch staff were preoccupied with CES. The information I provided has been forwarded to Management and Tech teams. The email acknowledged the sound levels from the Surround 3 speakers were still low when listening to a source that was not Dolby Digital and when the Bar 48 was simulating surround sound. According to reports received, the surround volume is good with the latest update especially when tested with true 5.1 source with a modernly produced movie. Steps and details on the Installer mode and external player are coming soon and will be posted on the product page. Most sub / satellite speaker connectivity issues have been addressed with the latest FW update. Regarding #3, I told them the levels were better but still not adequate. I expect to hear more during the week...
  21. @CanadianAndy When I bought my BAR 48 and encountered all these issues I contacted Gentec. They told me they didn't have specific procedures for dealing with firmware defects and suggested I raise my issues in these forums. :-( I'm still waiting to hear back from Klipsch. I gave them a lot to look into...
  22. @DaleG I got a call this morning from a gentleman at Klipsch Product Support in the US. I responded with a lengthy email pointing out the issues we have raised here and provided links to specific threads. In my email I identified the issue with the sound level from the Surround 3 speakers as the number one issue impacting BAR 48 owners. He is presently reviewing these issues with his management and will get back to me shortly. I will keep Community members informed about what I learn.
  23. "controlling it". Could you be more specific about which aspects you are having trouble with? What devices are connected to the TV, via what interface and what is or is not working? Also, have you installed the latest firmware, as provide by Klipsch on their Support Page, to the BAR 48?
  24. I just bought a bar 48 and can’t get it update v23 that is what the website said I need after I put in serial number.
  25. @DaleG I hope as we each describe our setup and explore every possibility why this issue persists we can provide Klipsch the necessary details to to get it resolved, assuming someone from Klipsch even looks at these posts. 😞 There are always hidden assumptions about which we must become aware. In my case, all my comments are based on the behaviour I experience when the BAR 48 is connected to my Samsung Q70 TV. The Q70 will only provide Dolby Digital output when source provides Dolby Digital to the Q70. I do not know if all TVs behave the same way. Perhaps some TVs will provide Dolby Digital output at all times. Dolby Digital supports multiple audio channels including mono, stereo and 5.1 surround so it is entirely possible that the soundbar can recognise a Dolby Digital audio source that does not contain any surround content. My Q70 provides a number of apps. Netflix will provide 5.1 surround to the TV which in turn passes it through to the soundbar. Other popular apps are not able to pass Dolby Digital through to the TV so while the movie may provide DD 5.1 surround it may only come through as stereo or worse. Of the various movies and TV shows available I have found The Expanse to provide the most dramatic surround sound effects. Another thing to be aware of is HDCP. It can allow HD 5.1 content to a connected device but prevent the content from reaching a third device.
