  1. @malibuguy79 the Bar 48 power supply is the main failure , you'll need to buy this part and replace it on the 2 Bars that are defective https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GWCPTQB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  2. I’ve had a Bar 48 sound bar for just over 2 years. One of my side speakers just stopped working (like won’t even come in). I think I need to replace it. How do you do that? Doesn’t seem to be an option on the website. Thanks!!
  3. @Christian Bonnet Two years ago I purchased a BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers that had just recently become available. Almost immediately I encountered issues. Not knowing where to turn I posted my concerns in this forum and found other customers having similar issues. I found the Klipsch support web pages but it contained very little information about any soundbars so I opened a case with Klipsch Product support. Over the course of a year I documented about a dozen issues and shared my experiences with other community members. About a year after my original purchase I was offered a warranty replacement which had more issues than my original one. Other customers had a similar experience. In January of this year the Cinema 600 became available and I was offered one to replace the defective BAR 48 warranty replacement. Of course, I accepted. The Cinema 600 was a big improvement. All the issues I had with the BAR 48 appeared to have been resolved but there were still a couple of show stoppers. The BAR 48 advertised support for Dolby Digital Plus but I never did get it working. The Cinema 600 was supposed to resolve that issue but didn't. Later I was told it didn't provide support for DD+. 😒 About once a week it would lose its connection with my TV (HDMI-ARC). I could only restore the connection by removing the power and reconnecting it. This behaviour continued for about eight months. In September, v33 of the firmware was released and I installed it September 3rd. A couple of weeks later, the soundbar would no longer power on at all. It was bricked! Perhaps that is why firmware v33 is no longer available. I don't know. On November 1 my Cinema 800 arrived and, yes, there are issues. I have added my comments to this thread: Do I have the bitter honor of having the first dead Cinema 800? It begins... I use my soundbar primarily when watching loud movies. I haven't listened closely in a quiet setting so I haven't noticed your issue. Since Klipsch provides little information about what issues a firmware update is supposed to resolve, you'll have to contact Klipsch Product Support and ask if v33 might resolve your issue and when it might again be made available. If you learn anything, please share with the community.
  4. Before recommending a solution it would be prudent to identify the source of the problem first. These BAR 48 knowledge base articles suggest that the subwoofer also has issues.
  5. Yes, that is one of the main issues. I must disagree with you here. I had multiple issues with my two BAR 48s that firmware updates were supposed to address but didn't. I had a Cinema 600 that dropped dead after a few months. If you read through the many threads discussing the BAR series and the Cinema series soundbars you can see how many owners exchanged their soundbars for another one having the same firmware version only to encounter a whole new set of issues. If you need more proof, read through the Bar 48 No-Power Repair Thread thread. There definitely are major reliability issues with many Klipsch soundbars. 😒
  6. I've had my BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers for about two weeks now and encountered the same issue. The volume of the surround speakers can be adjusted but that information was missing from the manual included with the sound bar. Page 7 of Bar-48_Manual_v06.pdf has the details. You can find the BAR 48 Sound Bar + Wireless Subwoofer Manual on the Product Download page. Increasing the volume on each of the Left and Right surround speakers to maximum did make a difference but the new firmware update helped even more. 8. Hello fellow Klipsch bar 48 friends! I am a completely noob when it comes to electronics, power, amps and watts and whatnot. I have a bar48 with surround speakers that are working fine. My problem is the sub very often wont turn on when the system is turned on. The blue light in the back of the sub wont tun on and no sound. Sometimes it helps swapping the power cables with the bar and sub. I have also had succes a couple times using another random power cable but in the end it keeps often not turning on. I think the problem is the power supply/ bad/unstable connection inside the sub since it works sometime. Has anyone had similar problems with the subwoofer and its power?
  9. Surround 3 speakers for klispch Bar 48. I will sell mine for 140.00. As you know they are worth 325.00 Canadian. I live in canada so there will be shipping charges, if I get your location can figure that out. They are in perfect condition, work with the Bar 48 sound bar.
  10. Hi can someone help me I have disconnected the yellow wire and I can't find where it is connected,on the motherboard of the bar 48.

    Bar 48 Subwoofer

I would like the answer to this question as well. Does the WA-2 work with the subwoofer from the Bar 48?
  12. Thanks guys I just fixed mine Bar 48 following you're advices.
  13. Bar 48 and Cinema 600 use the power supply in the Amazon link , read the thread , all instructions on installation are posted
  14. Bluetooth is complicated! If you're interested, have a look at this Wikipedia Bluetooth article. I was able to learn from Klipsch customer support that the Bar 48 uses Bluetooth version 4.1. To play music via Bluetooth you have to be able to connect to the BAR 48. Before you can connect you have to pair your device with the BAR 48. I am aware that even after a device is paired with the BAR 48 it may not be able to connect with it. After a year I am finally getting a warranty replacement for my BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers. I don't know what hardware revisions may have been incorporated into the most recent models but I will check to see which, if any, of my issues have been resolved and report back.
  15. I hate to be the bearer of bad news about the Bar 48. I had three Bar 48 units over a period of six weeks from Nov 2019 to Jan 2020. Only the first one connected via Bluetooth to my Samsung S8 and my two Windows laptops. The two following units failed to pair with Bluetooth to any device I tried. On top of that, I had three pairs of the Surround 3 rear speakers during that time. At best, the S3 speakers produced a whisper. Klipsch support finally admitted the Bar 48 does not properly provide 5.1 surround sound and Bluetooth has problems, for which they have no date for a firmware fix (I updated to v23 of Dec 2019 on all three of the Bar 48s). Being a long-time Klipsch traditional speaker owner, it was difficult for me to realize the Bar 48 product line is poor in quality and lacking in features the competitors have in spades. I returned all the Klipsch gear for a full refund. I'm now a very happy owner of the JBL Bar 5.1 with rich sound, full surround sound, HDMI-ARC and Bluetooth right out-of-the-box and at $499, is in the same price range as the Bar 48 with Surround 3 speakers when they are on sale.
  16. Most of the BAR 48 issues have been encountered previously by other customers and have been discussed in other threads. The first thing to do is review existing forum content. If your issue is not addressed, you are better off adding your comments to one of the existing threads dealing with your specific product/issue. Click here for content related to the BAR 48.
  17. @001 @billybob I've been helping out with issues affecting the BAR series and Cinema series sound bars for the past couple of years but I seem to miss posts when someone starts a new thread. If you think I can help out somewhere, please tag me and I'll jump in. @Floyd91 Most of the issues have been encountered previously by other customers and have been discussed in other threads. 18. Half the time my bar 48 will immediately start playing loud modem like sounds when I try to start a show. It’s connected through an optical cable. I stream everything through my TV. Sometimes Netflix works sometimes I get that high pitched modem beeping and buzzing. Same for every other streaming app I’ve tried. The sound bar is on the latest firmware.
  19. @Larry1974GD Re: Surround 3s The sound levels and sound quality delivered to the Surround 3s are determined by the firmware on the soundbar. Customers have been complaining about extremely low sound levels from their Surround 3s for a long time. Klipsch attempted to resolve these issues on the BAR 48 with a couple of firmware updates but I noticed very little difference after applying the updates. The Cinema 600 only provides very limited control of the Surround 3 volume and, in my opinion, it too is largely ineffective. See the Klipsch article: Cinema 600 - Surround Sound Level Adjustment with Surround 3's. I now have a Cinema 800. There have been three firmware updates since I've had this soundbar and the Surround 3s now produce adequate sound levels. The Cinema 800 firmware updates will also update the firmware on the attached surrounds and have resolved other issues like hissing and scratchy sounds that some customers have reported. Since I am using the same Surround 3s that I purchased with my BAR 48, I can only conclude that the majority of the issues affecting the Surround 3s are a result of the soundbar to which they are attached.
  20. The BAR 48 definitely can process Dolby Digital. I enjoyed many movies that had Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks. Dolby Digital Plus provides higher sound quality than does Dolby Digital. The BAR 48 specs said it could process Dolby Digital Plus but Klipsch never got that part working.
  21. Hi everyone, I too like fixing stuff rather than chucking it away. I also believe that modern electronics are built to fail, that's why I like older cars!! Anyway I have been following this tread since before Christmas and thought "well it seems that easy that I'll just get the power supply". That arrived last week and following SixerFixer's instructions I got it all done. I thought that it had worked as I saw the power light on the bench but after putting it back in it place..... nothing. It's a bar 48. So my original board had NO power to it at all after testing (240v was there) no 24v no 5v. With the new power supply that I sourced from ebay the power is there for about 2 secs. The 24v is fine the 5v will only stay on initially then drops to 2,3v. I f disconnect the 5v then power remains at 5v as soon as I reconnect it it drops to 2.3v. This is telling me that something else has failed but I have no idea what. Can someone point me to what it could be? I don't really understand electronics, I do known how to solder well and follow instructions though! When I was a teenager (Mid 1970's) I worked for Orange Music(UK) wiring speakers and amplifiers. Thanks in advance.
  22. Update Monday 20 January 2020. I received the JBL Bar 5.1 soundbar and subwoofer yesterday. It works right out-of-the-box just like I expected a 5.1 sound system to work and sound in full-time, room-filling 5.1 sound from all sources, both stereo and 5.1 source. Let me repeat that: 5.1 surround sound full-time from all sources, whether stereo music sources or 5.1 video sources. Full-time 5.1 surround sound, loud enough to be heard ALL the time during two 2+ hour movies (Star Wars, The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens). The Klipsch Bar 48 5.1, in comparison, played surround sound barely loud enough for only a few seconds at a time and only during a few loud scenes during the same two 2+ hour movies. Also, Bluetooth paired with no problems to my computer and smartphone (Klipsch Bluetooth failed to connect on 2 of 3 units I tried). After trying three BAR 48s with 5.1 in the last six weeks, the result is obvious to me now: Klipsch fails to deliver 5.1 surround sound on the BAR 5.1, nor do they acknowledge the problems (including Bluetooth failure to pair), nor do they promise a date when it will fully work as well as the competition does right out-of-the-box. Competition 1, Klipsch 0. Game over for me. I'm happy with the JBL Bar 5.1 and will be returning the Klipsch BAR 48 5.1 today.
  23. @Fernando Risso You have the latest firmware. That is the first step. You can't tell from the BAR 48 what devices have been paired. If your devices show that they are paired with the BAR 48, then they are. Once a device has been paired with the BAR 48, you then have to connect to the BAR 48 from the device before you can hear any sound from the soundbar. Make sure the volume level on your S8 and Motorola are at maximum and the volume level on the BAR 48 at an appropriate level. When using Bluetooth to play music, the source device will control the volume. A common issue is that the volume level on the source device is too low to hear any sound.
  24. Bluetooth is complicated! The paring process simply ensures that two devices have permission to connect with each other. How they connect and what they do when they connect depend on the Bluetooth profiles each device supports. Profiles make Bluetooth technology interoperable List of Bluetooth profiles So, if we are to determine whether two devices will connect we have to know what Bluetooth profiles each support. When I asked Klipsch customer support what profiles the BAR 48 supports I was told that they don't publish that information! If you have searched these forums for "BAR 48" you will see the many issues customers have complained about. If you really what to keep your BAR 48 I would open a case with Klipsch customer support but you will likely be better off with a different brand. I bought my BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers on Black Friday, November 2019, and immediately encountered issue. I joined the Klipsch Community in December looking for advice. I opened a case with Klipsch customer support in December. Since then I have reported almost a dozen issues. During that time I received no feedback at all about any progress. I was told that the new firmware update had resolved outstanding issues. It had not! I was told that the next firmware update (V30) had resolved outstanding issues. It had not! In August I was told since the firmware updates didn't resolve my issues there was likely a issue with my hardware and was offered a warranty replacement (soundbar and surrounds). I accepted. Replacement units were back ordered. I waited almost five months for them to arrive just before Christmas. I installed them only to learn that I have the same issues with the replacements plus a couple of new ones the originals didn't have but which other customers have reported in these forums. I am very disappointed with this product. I still hope there is something Klipsch can do for me! YMMV
  25. It's not just a matter of having a bunch of components and hoping they can be connected is such a way as to product the desired result. In your case you need to understand the capabilities and limitations of your soundbar, TV, and projector. If you want to obtain the best sound from your Cinema 600, including surround sound from your Surround 3 speakers, you have two choices: HDMI ARC Digital HDMI ARC offers greater bandwidth and increased functionality. According to Klipsch Product Support, the Cinema 600 does support Dolby Digital Plus but I've never been able to get it to work. UPDATE (2021-12-04): Klipsch Product Support, states they were mistaken and that the Cinema 600 does not support Dolby Digital Plus. I have a Samsung Q70R TV. Originally, I had a BAR 48 connected to it via the HDMI ARC connection. You can read about all the issues I encountered elsewhere in this forum. The BAR 48 specs state the soundbar supports Dolby Digital Plus. My TV will allow me to select DD+ if the attached device supports it. When I selected it, the Bar 48 locked up. Long story short: After a year I received a Cinema 600 as a warranty replacement. Now it is connected to the same TV via HDMI ARC but my TV no longer gives me the option of choosing DD+. I had a case opened with Klipsch Product Support for twenty months and, despite many attempts, I still haven't been able to get an update on the status of this issue. With no HDMI ARC nor Digital output from your projector there is no way it can provide a high quality audio stream let alone a Dolby Digital audio stream. Period! Perhaps... Your TV supports Dolby Digital as does your soundbar but Dolby Digital supports several different formats besides 5.1 including 2 channel stereo. If you expect a 5.1 audio feed to your soundbar then all the connections from the source to the soundbar also have to support 5.1 audio. This includes any apps you may have on a smart TV. Based on the information you provided, that's your best option to incorporate your Cinema 600 into your existing system. If your projector had a digital audio output it would greatly simplify things.
