  1. The technical information Klipsch has provided on the Cinema 600 (and its predecessor the BAR 48) is severely lacking. You may contact Tech Support and ask but when I tried that last year and asked what Bluetooth profiles were supported I was simply told that that information had not been published. 😞
  2. Please see this post for additional information. HDMI-ARC is the preferred connection. If your TV supports ARC, have you tried it? Klipsch has never provided details about how surround sound is supposed to work. On my Cinema 600 and my previous BAR 48 I would never get any sound from my Surround 3 speakers unless the ((SUR)) indicator was on. It is quite possible when listening to a Dolby Digital source that there is just no content in the rear channels. Try this: Use HDMI-ARC, if possible, otherwise use Digital. On the TV, enable Dolby Digital (not Dolby Digital Plus, even if it is available) Verify that the Dolby Digital indicator on the soundbar is illuminated. That will confirm that the TV is providing a valid Dolby Digital encoded output and that your soundbar recognizes it. If the Dolby Digital indicator on the soundbar is not illuminated try to connect the soundbar to a different device. Next... Make sure the ((SUR)) indicator on the soundbar is illuminated and that the Surround 3 speaker volume is set to an appropriate level.. Select a multimedia source that you know provides Dolby Digital encoded output (Netflix?) Select a video that uses Dolby Digital 5.1. What now works or doesn't work?
  3. My setup is similar to yours. Samsung Q70R 4K TV Apple TV 4K Klipsch Cinema 600 (with Surround 3 speakers) connected to my Samsung TV via HDMI-ARC. With all the devices you have it is important to know how they are all connected as each one has the potential to alter the audio format. Lets start with what the Cinema 600 supports. Even this is not clear to me. The Cinema 600 spec sheet states: Dolby Audio is pretty general and there are several Dolby Audio formats. Prior to getting the Cinema 600 I had (still do) a BAR 48. The BAR 48 spec sheet states: Here the specs are pretty specific about what formats are supported although I never could get any sound using Dolby Digital Plus. My TV supports these output formats and will allow me to choose them if the connected device supports them. PCM - Stereo or Mono. [HDMI-ARC or Digital] Dolby Digital - maximum of 6 channels (5.1) but also Mono, Stereo, 3.1. [HDMI-ARC or Digital] Dolby Digital Plus - Supports #2 at a higher bit rate plus 7.1. [HDMI-ARC only] Dolby Atmos With my BAR 48 I could select #1, #2, or #3, even though #3 wouldn't work. With my Cinema 600, I am no longer offered #3 as an option so I must assume the Cinema 600 does not support Dolby Digital Plus and therefore does not support 7.1 inputs. Based on the above, the best one can expect from the Cinema 600 is Dolby Digital 5.1 via HDMI-ARC or Digital inputs if the TV supports those connections. If the source content is not Dolby Digital encoded some TVs may continue to provide a Dolby Digital encoded output with only one or two channel content. My TV will automatically switch to PCM. This will affect how sound is processed by the Cinema 600. You should verify how your TV behaves. According to the documentation the Cinema 600 should Downmix 5.1 to 3.1 if the Surround 3 speakers are not connected. Provide virtual surround. Unfortunately, the manual does not explain exactly how virtual surround is supposed to work. The diagrams in the user manual do not include the subwoofer and, of course, there is no description provided so one can only speculate. Once we factor in other devices and apps, things begin to get complicated. Apps may run on your smart TV, Apple TV, Plex, or other devices. Some apps, like YouTube, only provide stereo output regardless what a particular video purports to offer. On the other hand, with the appropriate subscription, the Netflix app is capable of passing through a Dolby Digital encoded output stream if one is provided in the video but that still doesn't guarantee the Dolby Digital encoded stream will reach your soundbar if the platform on which the app is running is unable to capture and process (or pass through) the Dolby Digital encoded stream from the app. Klipsch has to provide better documentation and explain how these features are supposed to work. Only then can we know if the device is working as designed or if a specific behavior is the result of a defect. If we suspect a possible defect, as I would if the documentation is not specific, we need to open a case with Klipsch tech support to get the issue resolved. You can find additional information about some of the Cinema 600 features here.
  4. ... and the winner is: the Cinema 600. In short, the Cinema 600 is everything the BAR 48 should have been. The Cinema 600 is a new soundbar. It's been available in the US for several weeks and is just becoming available in Canada. It looks a lot like the BAR 40 or the BAR 48 and while both these soundbars may still be available from some retailers they have been removed from the list of soundbars on the Klipsch website. I think it is safe to say the the Cinema series is the replacement for the BAR series. Here are the specifications and manuals for both products. BAR 48 Sound Bar + Wireless Subwoofer Spec Sheet BAR 48 Sound Bar + Wireless Subwoofer Manual Klipsch Cinema 600 Sound Bar Spec Sheet Klipsch Cinema 600 Sound Bar Manual Specifications are great, as far as they go, but they don't tell you about potential issues so let me clear up that point now. All the BAR 48 issues I identified and reported appear to have been resolved on my Cinema 600 with Surround 3 speakers. That pretty much includes all the BAR 48 issues discussed in these community forums!
  5. Yes, the surround 3 speaker are the ones that need to be used with the cinema 600. I just got a cinema 600 replacement for my bar 48. All the issues identified with the bar 48 appear to have been resolved with the cinema 600. We finally have control over the volume on the surround 3 speakers.
  6. Hi John, Welcome to the Klipsch Community. The HDMI cable should be just fine. Almost any HDMI cable will work. Not all HDMI connections support ARC, the Audio Return Channel. The BAR 48 only works with HDMI connections that support ARC. Verify that your TV supports it. Check your TV manual to see what settings are needed for a home theatre hook up. For example, you may have to turn off the TV speakers.
  7. Bar 48 - Firmware V30/V83a Update Instructions
  8. Donde puedo encontrar el archivo para actualizar mi bar 48 En este momento no empareja el subwofer ni la conexion bluetooth con mi celular
  9. Bluetooth is complicated! The paring process simply ensures that two devices have permission to connect with each other. How they connect and what they do when they connect depend on the Bluetooth profiles each device supports. Profiles make Bluetooth technology interoperable List of Bluetooth profiles So, if we are to determine whether two devices will connect we have to know what Bluetooth profiles each support. When I asked Klipsch customer support what profiles the BAR 48 supports I was told that they don't publish that information! If you have searched these forums for "BAR 48" you will see the many issues customers have complained about. If you really what to keep your BAR 48 I would open a case with Klipsch customer support but you will likely be better off with a different brand. I bought my BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers on Black Friday, November 2019, and immediately encountered issue. I joined the Klipsch Community in December looking for advice. I opened a case with Klipsch customer support in December. Since then I have reported almost a dozen issues. During that time I received no feedback at all about any progress. I was told that the new firmware update had resolved outstanding issues. It had not! I was told that the next firmware update (V30) had resolved outstanding issues. It had not! In August I was told since the firmware updates didn't resolve my issues there was likely a issue with my hardware and was offered a warranty replacement (soundbar and surrounds). I accepted. Replacement units were back ordered. I waited almost five months for them to arrive just before Christmas. I installed them only to learn that I have the same issues with the replacements plus a couple of new ones the originals didn't have but which other customers have reported in these forums. I am very disappointed with this product. I still hope there is something Klipsch can do for me! YMMV
  10. I've recently purchased a BAR 48- It arrived at my home on Friday and I wasted no time in setting it up and enjoying it! Its basic sound profile is great (although I wish the Sub *could* deliver a bit more boom when it's cranked up than it does), and my optical and analog connections seamlessly work on it. The Bluetooth is a problem, though. I have the same issue that ebaqui details above: Although my BT capable devices can see the BAR 48 and can even "pair" with it, they cannot successfully connect to it. On my Windows PC, this simply results in my computer claiming it's connected to the BAR 48 but having no capability of playing sound over BT to it, while on my Android Smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S20 FE), I'm informed that I "need an app to use this device". That's how the BAR reacted to Bluetooth when I received it, and I can confirm that it is behaving the same way after I've installed the latest available firmware update (per Klipsch.com). This is really unfortunate and reflects poorly on Klipsch's QC process. I'm a fan of their products and love the sound profile I get out of all my Klipsch speakers, headphones, and soundbars (I upgraded to the BAR 48 from an RSB-3 soundbar that I've had for almost two years and have really enjoyed, which never had any of these BT pairing issues). It's hard to maintain enthusiasm for even a brand you've had historically great experiences with when you have multiple problems with things like this (A bit separate, but I've also had issues with my T5 True Wireless earbuds that seem to boil down to Klipsch not being able to ensure consistent quality in their manufacturing). Bluetooth may be complicated, but if the BAR 48 is truly using BT 4.1, that standard has existed for quite some time and countless consumer electronics have incorporated it without any issue. Most devices that use BT 5.0 don't exhibit any of these issues, either, despite the more advanced standard. Bluetooth has been a fact of life in the world of electronics for something like a decade, and it isn't unreasonable to expect a prestigious brand like Klipsch to competently incorporate it into their products. The fact that there are multiple topics open on this forum to the effect that customers aren't able to use the Bluetooth features on their premium audio products is disheartening. I'm planning on using a 3.5mm signal switch to gain some Bluetooth functionality by patching an Amazon Echo Dot into the 3.5 input along with my record player, so I should ultimately be able to achieve the functionality I want with minimal inconvenience. It's just a shame and a black mark on Klipsch that they're selling these defective units. I'll keep my eyes open for additional firmware updates but I'm not optimistic given how long these products have been on the market that Klipsch is really interested in addressing these problems for the relatively few of us who are experiencing them. I'd try to get the BAR 48 replaced with another, except it seems like the other customers who've tried that have ended up with similar quality issues effecting other elements of their products (such as the Wireless Sub) that work fine on my own unit. These are the types of compromises consumers shouldn't have to make when paying for premium products. Love the sound, but I'm thoroughly disappointed by this issue.
  11. Hey everyone. First time posting here. I have a Bar 48 Soundbar and a Toshiba Fire TV and I'm having a problem connecting the audio with the provided HDMI cable. It's not working. The sound is great and works fine with the optical cable but nothing with the HDMI. Am I missing something? I've searched all over for answers on this. Is there some trick I'm missing? Any help would be great. Thanks.
  12. I just got my warranty replacements: A new BAR 48. New Surround 3 speakers. Shortly after I set it up, I too started having random popping sounds from my right surround. This is an issue I did not have on my original system but one that other customers have reported in these forums.
  13. @btlancaster24 The Cinema 600 is the newer soundbar. Both soundbars have essentially the same features including a "Night" feature to disable the subwooder. The Cinema 600 has a larger subwoofer, higher power, and slightly better frequency response according to the specs. The BAR 48 has a number of issues, some of which may have been corrected. To learn more, search the community for "BAR 48". I have no hands on experience with the Cinema 600 but know the BAR 48 all too well. I would probably go with the Cinema 600.
  14. So craziest thing happened, I loaded up the update onto a 32gb (on accident) drive and now my bar 48 is showing me a red light with all white LEDs ontop of it. With the input symbol red as well. Can turn off, factory reset or anything like that... What do I do?
  15. Hoping to get some feedback / recommendations for the best Klipsch soundbar to go with between the Cinema 600 vs the Bar 48? Anyone tried these that can give some thoughts and impressions between the two? They both cost $499 each. I'm not really sold on "wireless" vs hardwired. And front firing would be better for the sub. But, unfortunately, the soundbars all come with down firing subs. Plus, I live in an upstairs apartment with a woman in her 60's below me. Her living room is right below mine. So, I'm not sure if a soundbar is gonna be the best option for my living situation or maybe another set-up such as either satellites or bookshelf speakers with a front firing sub. What do you guys think?
  16. My sound bar will not turn on. I updated the firmware back in July to this version: Bar48_2.4_V30.zip dated May 5 2020 and it was working after that. It was ok yesterday but when I went to turn it on this morning it would not come on - no lights no sound. I tried the factory reset repeatedly - power + source for at least 10 seconds. Unplugged for 1/2 an hour and tried again still nothing. After unplugging and retrying, the sub-woofer started to pop randomly. I've tried it in different outlets that I know are working and tried using the power cord from the sub-woofer. No change. Thoughts...
  17. Bluetooth is complicated! If you're interested, have a look at this Wikipedia Bluetooth article. I was able to learn from Klipsch customer support that the Bar 48 uses Bluetooth version 4.1. To play music via Bluetooth you have to be able to connect to the BAR 48. Before you can connect you have to pair your device with the BAR 48. I am aware that even after a device is paired with the BAR 48 it may not be able to connect with it. After a year I am finally getting a warranty replacement for my BAR 48 and Surround 3 speakers. I don't know what hardware revisions may have been incorporated into the most recent models but I will check to see which, if any, of my issues have been resolved and report back.
  18. HI All, I followed your recommendations - have the latest firmware update installed and managed to not brick the bar48. The sound is amazing and I really dont want to return it. But the bluetooth continues to be an issue. My phone (S20) recognizes the Bar 48, however will not connect, the phone notifies me that 'This devices needs an app to connect'. Downloaded the Play-Fi Klipsh stream app, powered up the app and put the bar48 in bluetooth pairing mode and.... nothing. Just does not pair... tried restarting the app, on/off the speaker and nothing. The work around I found for playing music, is via Chromecast. Chromecast -> TV -> Optical out -> Bar48. Works but bluetooth will be way more convenient. Any other things you guys recommend I try?
  19. To start I am a big Klipsch fan. However, recently I am not a big fan of customer service. I understand the Covid circumstances but for last week I have called multiple times and waited listening to music for over an hour and then the system hanged up. My bar 48!all of the sudden died and I cannot turn it on and I have tried different cables and power outlets. Product is still under warranty and I have a ticket number. should I try to go to Best Buy where I bought if from or still try to get in touch with Klipsch? please advise as I am getting more and more frustrated.
  20. @Olivier Michaud I see that no one has responded to your post. I'm sorry I haven't checked for recent posts in several weeks. I have a BAR 48 that came with the original firmware. I updated to v83 then to v30 and noticed no difference in the sound levels. My source is my Samsung TV using an HDMI ARC connection. I don't often use a Bluetooth connection so I don't know if that has been impacted but the sound level with Bluetooth is dependent on the sound level from the source. From the reports customers have posted in these forums, the BAR 48 appears to suffer from a variety of manufacturing defects, aside from various firmware issues. I would suggest you try to obtain another replacement. By the way, I purchased my BAR 48 on Black Friday 2019 and have encountered most of the issues reported in these forums. Many of the issues still remain after installing the v30 firmware. In August Klipsch Customer Support agreed to provide a warranty replacement. I'm still waiting for it to arrive: the Surround 3 speakers have been out of stock for months. 😞
  21. After an exchange due to issue with the rear speakers, the new BAR 48 I just received is really disappointing in sound. Surrounds and subwoofer are at the maximum level and I can barely hear them. The one I had before I kept them at 50%, maybe one or two led light up, and it was high enough... and the subwoofer vibration was high enough to create an earthquake. With the last one, the highest firmware update was the one issued on November 2019 (v83). With the new one, it gives me the one released on May 15th (v30). Is it related to that?! However, I am so disappointed. After waiting more than one month to get a new one, I just want to return it again. Could it really be v30 the problem?
  22. Hopefully the 600 will be better. If you search this forum there are quite a few threads with lots of folks who have issues with the BAR 48. Not packaging issues but reliability and performance issues. Maybe the universe was looking out for you when the shipper broke the BARs and wanted you to have something different. 🙂 Good luck. Let us know your thoughts when you get the 600.
  23. I have ordered the sound bar twice, both times it has came broke in half in the same spot. For whatever reason in the packaging instead of using styrofoam in the middle of the box to support the sound bar there is nothing. Just free space... So I'm wondering if they have changed this with the cinema 600? I really want to have this on my tvs in my new house. But not if they are gonna all be broken. So does anyone know if the new 600s are packed in styrofoam front to back?
  24. Hi John, It seems I missed the the Klipsch community email notifying me of the update to this thread... I have not heard of anyone else using a second subwoofer with their BAR 48. As I have advised others, open a ticket with Klipsch. It may take a while before they get back to you. In the mean time, you may be able to learn something with a little troubleshooting. Do you still get the pop if the wireless subwoofer is not powered on? Do you still get the pop if all cables are disconnected from the BAR 48 other than the power cable and the subwoofer cable? Have you tried to power the subwoofer from a separate power bar or electrical outlet? Have you tried a different cable (i.e. different make, wire gauge, shielding, etc.) to connect the subwoofer to the BAR 48? The more information you can gather about what might be causing this issue the more likely you are that Klipsch tech support may find a solution. By the way, what are you using for your second subwoofer?
  25. Sound bar 48 5.1 just purchased; Issues with 2nd sub woofer added with a direct connection and when sound bar turns on or off - loud pop noise on the 2nd sub. The sound bar and sub woofer are plugged into the same power strip-FYI. Have adjusted the gain on the sub with no success, any input would be appreciated. Also agree on the surround sound speakers - not very loud... Also connected sound bar to LG TV via Digital optical cable, not HDMI - FYI Just updated new firmware, pop noise went down considerably, surround sound speakers are louder, and have not adjusted them yet - FYI
