  1. Hello all, I have a Klipsch Cinema 800 for a few weeks now. I am using the ARC from an older Samsung JS8500 LED TV. My issue is the sound is not clear. It has a slight muffled and compressed sound to it. I checked my firmware levels and they are current to the ones on the Klipsch webpage. I have tried the various presets (Standard, Direct, Movie, Music, etc.) I cannot find one that mids and highs sound better than my $75 bluetooth speaker. I am nearing my return window and I need to decide on how to remedy this. I have read reviews and comments on the great sound quality so I want to get mine to sound great. I have tried playing music from my iPhone and it really does not sound very good. Muffled and compressed and a sounds like a AGC limiter. I am not really interested in headbanging loud volume but I do want it clean and have the dialog easy to understand. Any advice? Open a case with Klipsch or is this just the nature of the beast and I should look elsewhere?
  2. After my second BAR 48 died, Klipsch gave me a Cinema 600. It had just become available. Unfortunately, it only lasted a few months. I was then given a Cinema 800. Search these community forums for "Cinema 800" to learn more. Both the Cinema 800 & 1200 have reliability issues too but far fewer than the BAR 48 and the Cinema 600 do. Early firmware updates were a disaster but the latest ones are stable. You should be quite happy with your Cinema 800. I am. 🙂
  3. I'm new to the brand am gonna probably rock this setup for awhile as I've heavily neglected my home audio for 7 years I've done much research myself into these but want more opinions I would get the higher end cinema 1200 and the rp series sub but that's simply out of my budget any input would be appreciated 😁
  4. Connect via BT works nice ... but as soon as i get to the name your product screen it loads a bit and then gets an error "error reading name". soundbar is on the latest FW upgrade and i tried several phones, did a full reset on the soundbar and tried older versions of klipsch connect. so far no luck. Is there an EQ in the connect app you can use with the Cinema 800? Or is all that comes after naming the bar, the registrations and thats that? Overall a very bug product ... sometimes just wont turn on via HDMI ARC. needs to be disconnected from power and restartet to get it working again.....
  5. The firmware values for sur r and sur t are not matching what the latest firmware is supposed to be I have the cinema 800 with the surround 3 rear speakers I also run a extra wired sub that for some reason has a loud pop when ever I turn my tv off any advice on these two problems thx
  6. I just purchased the Cinema 800 with surround 3s and they sound amazing. Then checked the firmware and everything is updated. It's only been a week. I hope I don't regret the purchase but good to know the Onkyo partnership has made their electronics reliable. Good comments on this forum. Glad to have joined.
  7. My Cinema 800 isn't doing so hot. DSP shows 0.0 and numerous attempts to flash it have so far failed. It still shows 0.0 after update and doesn't play any sound. I noticed the sub has an LFE Input and output jack on the back so I figured I could at least keep using the sub if I can't salvage the sound bar. The manual doesn't acknowledge these jacks at all, so maybe they don't work. I have plugged into the input jack but don't get any sound from it. The light switches from blue to green when something is actively plugged into it, but no audio. Can someone with a Cinema 800 try using their sub this way with the sound bar off to see if it will work? If not I may take the plate off and use a different amp as I think this sub sounds pretty good.
  8. Thank all you guys for your genius knowledge. I am an untrained novice...a messy solderer at that! And thanks to you all, I got my amazon power supply in to my Cinema 600 and it's working (for the moment....)!!! Since they gave me an 800 (It sounds a bit better and more options for connecting the sub), I am hoping the 600 keeps working and I can give it to my friend for his new place! Did you see Klipsch has come out with a whole new line of soundbars and is sunsetting these? They are made with Onkyo. I hope they have better luck. I experienced good customer service.
  9. hi @audiophile18, The Cinema Series soundbars are being phased out and are being replaced with the Flexus Soundbars as @billybob pointed out. The Cinema Series has had its issues: most notable are the many firmware issues and general hardware reliability. The current firmware versions are quite reliable and have addressed most of the issues found in earlier firmware versions. Hardware reliability is another matter. Some owners have had two or three replacements while others have no problems at all (yet). The the most notable remaining issue that affects the Cinema 700, 800, & 1200 is the loss of audio which can be be be restored by power cycling the soundbar. I have a Cinema 800. I still encounter this issue every three or four weeks, much less frequently though than the almost daily occurrence when the issue first surfaced. The other issue involves the centre channel dialog which Klipsch never completely resolved. Very few, if any, of the hardware issues plaguing the Cinema Series soundbars involve the Klipsch speakers. Almost all are due to issues with the electronics. All owners agree: They sound fantastic! I know there are some great deals on Cinema series soundbars now but my advice would be to wait for the Flexus Soundbars. The entry level models will be released first followed by the higher end models a few months down the road, just has Klipsch did with with the BAR series and the Cinema series.
  10. I don't believe that ARC/eARC is your issue. I have an older Samsung TV that does not have eARC. My Cinema 800 is connected to the TV's HDMI/ARC input and I have full 4K60Hz video. You could have an issue with your TV's HDMI/ARC input. That is why I said: If you used a different HDMI input on your TV when you did your tests, you did not eliminate the TV's HDMI/ARC input as the problem, which has nothing to do with ARC per se. Very true but ARC/eARC is not used for video. The Cinema Series soundbar articles mention eARC because it has the bandwidth required to provide all the audio formats the Cinema 1200 supports as described in Cinema 1200 - Decoding and Playback Modes but that article is a bit misleading. HDMI/ARC has the bandwidth to support a Dolby Digital Plus audio stream which provides higher quality audio (CD quality) when compared to Dolby Digital. Furthermore, Dolby Digital Plus does support Dolby Atmos, albeit at a lower audio quality. Since the Cinema Series soundbars do support Dolby Digital Plus we can listen to Dolby Atmos content via an HDMI/ARC connection as long as the TV can provide it.
  11. You might want to sit down before you read this: I contacted Klipsch and let them know that I had seen this was an on-going fairly common problem and wondered if they were covering it with an extended warranty. THEY ARE REPLACING MY CINEMA 600 WITH AN 800!!! They no longer make the 600 so they are replacing it with the 800. I'm so gobsmacked, I'm telling myself that I'll believe it when it shows up (in 5-10 business days). I'm wondering if I am delusional when I read the e-mail and receipt for it! That was a short shelf life for the 600 so my guess is they quit making them because of the power supply problem. This problem has to be costing Klipsch a lot. Not to be ungrateful but I hope the 800 has a more robust PS. At least, now I'm ready. If it has the same power supply, when it goes, I have the one I just got from Amazon! LOL! (and bonus: Now I know I need a set or Torx drivers!) Thank you Klipsch!
  12. Hello @R1c0, @itsmeray, @CH315, @Dlayhue01 I just came across this thread otherwise I would have replied sooner. I use the Surround 3's with my soundbars. First, I had a BAR 48 so I know all about those issues. I too was given a Cinema 600 as a warranty replacement so I know all about the Cinema 600 issues too. My Cinema 600 died completely after a couple of months. I had just updated the firmware to the latest version a few days before Klipsch pulled that update. While Klipsch is pretty good about providing warranty replacements, if you are within the warranty period, the Cinema 600 doesn't really qualify as a replacement for the BAR 48. The BAR has more features than does the Cinema 600 and, while a warranty replacement doesn't have to be the same model, it does have to have compatible or better features than the model it is replacing. Both the BAR series and the Cinema series soundbars have major reliability issues, especially the BAR 48 and the Cinema 600. The most recently manufactured Cinema 600's are labeled Rev 3. 😞 When I pointed out to Klipsch that the BAR 48 specs had features not present in the Cinema 600, they replaced my dead Cinema 600 with a Cinema 800 that had just been released. Through all of this, my Surround 3's never gave me any problems. Here are some suggestions how to troubleshoot Surround 3 pairing issues. Move the Surround 3's close to the soundbar, say 3 to 5 feet, just in case there are any signal strength or interference issues. Move any bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices that could cause interference away from your soundbar. Make sure the switch on the back of the Surround 3's are set correctly: One should be in the "L" position; the other in the "R" position. If only one of the Surround 3 speakers is paired, try reversing the switches on the back so that left becomes right and right becomes left and try to pair them again. If the same physical speaker again pairs successfully, that would suggest the other speaker has an issue. If however the other speaker pairs successfully it would suggest that the soundbar is only able to pair to a specific channel (either the left or the right) and the failure to pairing is due to an issue with the soundbar. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you read these Cinema 600 articles.
  13. I searched and did not find anyone with this issue. After a vacation where all of my equipment was unplugged from the wall, I return to have the LEDs on top and front flicker then stop working. I suspect a power supply issue as previously mentioned in posts, but am not savvy enough to replace it. Two year old unit out of warrant that now completely cuts out at random times using HDMI. Pops a bit with optical cable (that might be the TV settings). And I seek the wisdom of @KevinBif you've heard of this one. Also, I'm super curious - with all of the issues with Bar 48, what influenced you to purchase a Cinema 800???? I love (understatement) the brand also, but it seems that the Soundbar division isn't up to usual Klipsch quality standards. [I'm a newbie so the system won't let me message you directly]

  15. I have not had any issues with my Connect App but I don't use it very often. The equalizer function is pretty basic: it allows you to raise or lower levels in three ranges (lower, mid, & trebil). When I had my Cinema 600 I found the effectiveness of the equalizer to be disappointing. It's better on the Cinema 800 but not great. Since the equalization is done in the soundbar, the results depend pretty much on the soundbar.
  16. For the last 2 years, I’ve been dealing with an intermittent issue on my Klipsch Cinema 800 sound bar. It is connected to a Sony Bravia XBR65A8H via HDMI eARC. I also have a pair of Surround 3 speakers. The soundbar powers on and off with the Bravia. Every so often, the speakers will emit a low squealing noise when they turn on with the tv. The display comes up and I am able to change the volume, but there is no audio from the content on the tv. I have tried to power down the soundbar while it’s in this state, but the eARC connection causes it to power back on automatically when it recognizes the active input on the tv. The only way to reset the soundbar is to unplug it, wait for a few seconds and plug it back in. It works for 1-3 weeks and then it happens again. I’ve reached out to Klipsch support about this but they seem to be bewildered by the cause. I’ve done factory resets, firmware re-flashes, and changed the HDMI cable twice. Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution, or does anyone have any ideas on a potential cause for the issue? I’m thinking I could use an optical cable, but then I’m limited on audio format support to Dolby Digital and not Dolby Digital Plus.
  17. I just found this thread because my Cinema 600 died one month short of 3 years. I have to give props to Klipsch in my case because they sent me a Cinema 800 for replacement free of charge and told me they don’t want the 600 back and I can do with it as I see fit. So…. I plan to attempt the repair on this thread and use in another room. Thanks for all the info here and I will follow up after the new power supply comes.
  18. Is Rtings review correct? Sound Rating: 5.4 Dolby Atmos Supported Dolby Digital Incorrect Implementation Dolby Digital Plus Incorrect Implementation Dolby TrueHD Supported DTS Not Supported DTS:X Not Supported DTS-HD MA Not Supported PCM Channels Up To 7.1 This soundbar has amazing audio format support via ARC. It supports Dolby Digital, which is the most common surround sound format. It can also play lossless and object-based surround sound formats like Dolby Atmos and has eARC support. However, unlike the Sony HT-A3000, it doesn't support DTS content. Also, when you play Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus content, any dedicated left or right audio plays on both channels simultaneously. This is also true with the left and right surround channels, meaning that sound effects aren't as accurately localized within the soundstage. For example, a voice meant to come from the left seems like it's coming from the left and right simultaneously, which doesn't give you the same life-like feel.
  19. I recently picked up a new open box Cinema 800 for $399 to replace the kid's Yamaha YAS-209. I had ordered a Klipsch R-120SW which is not worth returning for the costs (they did credit me $35 bringing my total for it $250). Would this be a better sub than the included 10" sub, I would connect it via RCA? Thanks
  20. Okay, you have confirmed your HDMI cables are good and everything works when the soundbar is out of the equation. Assuming you used the HDMI connection on the TV that the soundbar connects to, that just leaves the soundbar itself. If your soundbar is defective, and still within the warranty period, Klipsch will provide a warranty replacement but they will want evidence of a defect. The results of your tests should provide that evidence. Cinema 700/800/1200 Video Passthrough Capabilities states that the soundbar supports 4k60 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:4. That should be enough to confirm there is an issue with your soundbar. You may be able to learn a bit more if you can determine whether your soundbar can pass through 4k30 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:4 or 4k60 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:2. Either way, you should open a case with Klipsch Product Support and begin a dialog with them.
  21. If you own a Cinema soundbar and it is still within the warranty period it is "supported". If your soundbar has a defect and it is still within the warranty period Klipsch will provide a "warranty replacement". They do not repair customer's soundbars. If they provide a warranty replacement you have to return your defective one. Klipsch doesn't guarantee that your warranty replacement will be new; it may be a refurbished unit. I owned a BAR 48, Cinema 600, and a Cinema 800. Over the life of these products Klipsch provided firmware updates to address specific issues and provide new features so it was quite possible that your soundbar was beyond its warranty period but you were able to install new firmware. You may notice a revision (rev) number on a some soundbars. That indicates a change to the manufacturing process. Perhaps there were reliability issues with certain components and Klipsch addressed those issues. Those are the only changes I'm aware of that Klipsch makes to existing soundbars. When Klipsch decides to do a major upgrade to products like the BAR series and Cinema series soundbar they do it by introducing a new product. Prior to introducing a new product it is a common practice for manufacturers to discontinue an existing product and sometimes significantly reduce the price to clear out existing inventory. I have not seen any official notice from Klipsch stating that Cinema soundbar models are being discontinued but I do see a number of indications that lead me to believe that is indeed the case. There are only a few Cinema models still on the Klipsch website available for purchase. Some retailers have told customers that (some of) the Cinema series soundbars are being discontinued. The price of the Cinema soundbars has been reduced significantly. I have not heard of any announcements from Klipsch about new soundbars to replace the Cinema series.
  22. This article has the information you are looking for: Cinema 700/800/1200 Video Passthrough Capabilities The Audio Return Channel (ARC/eARC) is used to pass audio streams to the soundbar when the audio originates from the TV, the TV's external inputs, or any internal apps the TV may have. When the program material originates from the soundbar, as is the case when the source is the soundbar's HDMI1 or HDMI2 inputs, the connection at the TV behaves as a regular HDMI port. The most likely cause your soundbar won't pass through 4k, assuming your TV does support 4K video, is your HDMI cable. All HDMI cables definitely are not created equal. I strongly recommend you use a certified HDMI cable. Considering the small difference in price, I would go with The Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable. Thanks to the Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable Certification Program, you can now be sure you are getting a genuine certified cable.
  23. I just set up my cinema 800 5.1 system and the volume is all over the place. It will go from being near quite in scenes with dialogue to extremely loud when the action picks up. Is there any way to set a volume check/limit to stop this problem? Also I noticed in the owners manual that the LED display will say what is being decoded (5.1, atmos, etc). However I don’t see any functionality on the remote to show this and the manual doesn’t say.
  24. I've been using the Klipsch Cinema 800 soundbar for a few months now and I have to say that I haven't encountered sound quality like this anywhere else. It really deserves to be praised.
  25. I'm not sure if this will work, so please bare with me. I had trouble logging in so I found one of my old post to reply to. Life got busy with opening up a cabinet business and I didn't make too many changes to my system. I also haven't been in contact with the good friends and people on this Forum that helped me out with my modifications. I may mention names later. I'm finally going to get into Dolby Atmos and purchased a different processor to do so. Also getting ready to buy some different equipment. Next purchase will be the Magnetar UPD-800 Blu-ray player. I have been trying to purchase some Klipsch Cinema Surround speakers, but I'm having trouble finding a dealer. I have to search a little harder. I'm thinking of the KPT-12-VB, KPT-8-VB, Kpt-1200-VBM . I need 2 surrounds, and I might use them for 4 ceiling mounted Atmos speakers. Have to see what kind of frequency response is actually sent to the those Atmos channels. With these changes I'm going to sell 2 pairs of LaScalas , 1 pair of Klipschorns. The Klipschorns are stock, they used to be my benchmark speaker that I used when modifying other speakers. I havent listened to them in years. The LaScalas are my front and rear height speakers which I can't use as surrounds and ceiling speakers. I'll probably list these in the Garage sale section one of these days before going to eBay. That's all I'm going to say for now. I want to see if this reply post. Then I'll try starting a new one. I have to search the members list to see if some of the old timers like me are still active here. May have to change my old pass word, and email address. Q-Man
