tommyboy
I've owned my receiver for about 2 yrs now, and I've always listened to standard dvds on THX cinema, or standard dd or dts. I never tried out the "action, drama" etc. sound modes. Well, we just watched Spider Man on regular dvd, and I used the Action sound mode. WOW! I feel kind of lame now because this mode sounded way better than the other one I've been using! It literally almost sounds like a totally different receiver. I wish I would have tried this out before............ [:#]
Moderators Youthman Posted December 16, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2008 I've never used the soundfield much myself. I stick with the basic ones.

falcon20x
I have tried all of them on all my receivers, the THX format was the one I liked the least. I always felt like something was missing. I noticed pure direct seems to be as clear as it gets
RockOn4Klipsch
For music I like the Neural 5.1 best (you need a kickin center channel though) For Blu Ray movies I use Pure Direct and with DD or DTS i leave the be with the exception of Re-EQ andthe Audyssey Calibration. PhilMays
I have a Yamaha RXZ1 that has a plethera of sound modes. All-in-all, I use DD for movies, unless on cable, then I use 8 channel. The rest seem to be a waste of time for me in that I can't really see a difference I like outside of perhaps one more. This thing has churchs, concert halls, etc...something like 40 different sound modes. When buying it I thought "COOL", in actual use, who wants to hear anything as it sounds in a church, or concert hall.
