Groomlakearea51
Thanks for posting this!!! Very interesting, well written and very clear. [Y][Y][Y] Alot simpler than using "rottenstone", or "french polishing", etc. I just emailed myself with the link and it's in the "electro-reference library"!![8-|]

Dmannnnn
I used this stuff for polishing fret jobs on guitars. I tried it on some wood amp bases and WOW. After getting the poly flat with 400 grit wet sand paper I hit it with these. All the way down to 12,000 grit. I can barely pick them up without them slipping out of my hands. Very nice. http://www.amazon.com/MICRO-MESH-SANDING-SHEETS-INTRODUCTORY/dp/B000H6HIK2
Groomlakearea51
Thanks also to Dmannnn for posting that one. That's very good source for fine polishing pads and disks; especially a source for the grits finer than >600. Also for those with random orbital sanders needing either PSA or hook/pile pads up to 600 grit, here's a good source and they are very reasonable. Excellent results from their products, etc. http://www.onlineindustrialsupply.com
White_Hawk
Thanks for posting the article and links everyone, all very useful for DIY'ers (or those of us who proclaim to be but never get around to actually doing the project... lol)
