superedge88
I have been usually using the DTS Neo surround sound mode on my Denon receiver, what is your favorite mode and why?
toddvj
None. Just the plain old ProLogicII, which switches to DolbyDigital or dts when one of those tracks is playing.
USNRET
I have been usually using the DTS Neo surround sound mode on my Denon receiver, what is your favorite mode and why? Same here with auto switching to DD/DTS. No particular reason, I do 2 channel with the McIntosh. When I had to use the Denon for 2 channel I use the Discreet stereo and everything in the unit (lights, processing, etc) is OFF.
Bill H.
three channel theatre (don't use any surrrounds).
JJkizak
I use the PL-IIC Dolby all the time which makes the powered center channel come alive. JJK
superedge88
Is there a setting that I have to change to turn on the automatic switching, will my Denon tell me on its display that it is in DTS mode instead of standard Pro Logic II ? USNRET
Mine is different but looking at your manual see page 34 and use AUTO select. Display should display what is being detected or you can memorize what you want to input to sense.
toddvj
Is there a setting that I have to change to turn on the automatic switching, will my Denon tell me on its display that it is in DTS mode instead of standard Pro Logic II ? If you are in PLII, and you start playing a dts source, the display should switch automatically. If it doesn't, you aren't getting dts. Check the settings on your DVD player, etc and make sure it is set to bitstream over a optical, digital coax, or hdmi connection.
USNRET
Yep sometimes we overlook the obvious. Does the soruce material have it available? Is source set to output the signal? Is it being transmitted over a connection that will accommodate it? Is the processor able to 'sense' it and not be locked into some other format? superedge88
I checked the DVD I am playing, checked the DVD player output, now I will mess with the receiver to make sure it is set to "Auto" Thanks guys for all your help, I really appreciate it! shake777
With my AVR4306 I usually use Dolby D PLIIx C and PLIIx musi for CDs. I think there might be something technically incorrect about this but it seems to sound the best to me.
superedge88
Turns out all I had to dois go to the menu on the denon and set it to auto. I can see it switching to DTS or stay on Dolby Pro Logi II, thanks for the help guys!
