Has anyone ever owned or demoed this receiver? My old JVC died and I am currently using a sub par 5.0 surround for audio. [:'(]

It reviews well but I would prefer hearing from you guys. It has pre-out and zone 2 pre-out plus line level sub out. I have a bud that has a 7.1 Onkyo and it sounds great in pure audio mode.

What do you guys think? Fits my current budget $229 free shipping on Amazon.

Thanks

As long as you only need a two channel receiver it would be great. Also, just to let you in on a little secret, I bought my TX-SR805 through http://www.shoponkyo.com They have factory refurbished TX-8555s for $199 with free shipping. Also, when you first sign up you're given 10 points that count as $10 towards your first purchase = $189 total with factory warranty.

I haven't had a single problem with my 805 and even though the outer box said the receiver might have small cosmetic blemishes mine was in perfect condition.

I would also consider the HK stereo receiver,I would expect a big improvement over an Onkyo.

Well now you've gone and dunnit. After searching I found an HK 3390. It's the same price but 80 watts versus 100. Other features are compatible.

What do you guys think? I gonna get one of these. I don't think the 80 or 100 watts would make a difference but I could be wrong.

I'll consider this an interim receiver as it will end up in the 16'x24' workshop I'm going to build in the spring. It's all the budget I have right now.

I don't think there would be alot of difference.
