StringerBell
Hey guys, I just received a brand new set of WB-14 Bookshelf speakers, but need some help connecting them to my 26" Toshiba LCD HDTV http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-26AV502U-26-Inch-720p-HDTV/dp/B001EHN7TY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top. I'm a rookie when it comes to home audio so I'm not sure if I need to buy a cable, an amplifier or something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. BuyOtherSoundEquipment
I have to ask - why is your username not Omar? I don't think that answers the OP's question very well... Stringer, It sounds to me that you are missing a receiver for your system. What you get Depends on if you want to do 5.1 (surround sound) eventually or if you plan just to stick with the two speakers. In the latter case, you want to find a stereo receiver. StringerBell
BuyOtherSoundEquipment, Thanks for your response. Do you have any stereo receivers in mind that are of good quality?
BuyOtherSoundEquipment
There are many, many choices for good stereo receivers. I happen to be partial to Harman Kardon and Denon, but there are many more good choices. Maybe these will point you in the right direction: http://harmankardon.com/product_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=REC∏=HK%203490&sType=C http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7897001&st=stereo+receiver&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1192232615058 Others will pipe up with other suggestions... TNRabbit
What's your budget for an amp? OR, what's your total budge for a receiver & 5.1 surround system, if that's the way you want to go...
StringerBell
I'm not looking to spend too much. I just want these speakers connected to my television, that's all. I'm looking to get the most standard set-up ... these speakers will already be an upgrade from the television speakers, so I'm fine with that. wuzzzer
I would just get a basic two-channel receiver that's sometimes referred to as an integrated amp. Companies such as Denon, Harman/Kardon and Onkyo all sell two channel receivers that will work perfectly for you and you can usually find them new/used in the $149-$349 range. You can get a two channel Onkyo TX-8255 receiver for $139 shipped directly through Onkyo: http://shoponkyo.com/detail.cfm?productid=TX-8255&modelid=15&group_id=1&detail=1&ext_war=1 %20front.jpg' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Its factory refurbished but so was my Onkyo 805 and I've had zero problems with it and it was in 10/10 condition. They ship anything that's over $99 for free and when you first sign up for shoponkyo they give you a $10 credit so it'll actually only cost $129. I would say that looks to be one of the better deals I have yet to see, Stringer.

russ69
Your TV does not have an analog audio output so you'll have to have an amp to get audio to your speakers. You didn't say but you can pull your audio from your cable box if you have one. I'm assuming you just don't have a TV and an antenna. Thanx, Russ
