chef73
Does anyone know anything about Acurus amps? Did klipsch make them? Are they still being produced? Where can I get one?

dougdrake
I have 3 Acurus amps - 200x3, 200x5, and a 250x2. I love them - very high power, very clean, very controlled. They were built by Mondial (which also built Aragon). Klipsch bought Mondial several years back, but to my knowledge never did anything with the brand before eventually shutting it down. They are no longer made. You'd have to buy them used.
JohnA
Hi Doug! He's right. eBay is about all there is for Acurus.

Dflip
Klipsch never made them. Mondial Designs, Ltd., 20 Livingstone Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522. Then they were sold to Klipsch with the higher end company, Aragon. Acurus was founded in 1992 as the value brand of Mondial Designs. Mondial was started with the Aragon brand, well know for its high end electronics in audiophile circles. Mondial was founded in 1986 by Paul Rosenberg and Anthony Federici, the latter of whom has since left the business. In December of 2000 Mondial was bought out by Klipsch of speaker fame. Paul Rosenberg is still with Mondial as the Director of Marketing and New Product Development. The initial Aragon products were actually designed by Dan D'Agostino of Krell. About 11 years ago, Mike Kusiak joined Mondial as Chief Designer and is responsible for all products since, including the DIA150. All Mondial amplifiers have the same design philosophy, i.e., no integrated circuits, motorized volume pots, glass-epoxy circuit boards, large transformers, lots of capacitance and bipolar output devices. They are no longer made, I still have an Acurus RL-11 preamp and a 150 W solid state amp.
